WEST BROM ALBION - A STEP FORWARD?

After a tense beginning to the year, WBA have somehow managed to qualify for Europe as they displace Arsenal to the final spot of the Europa League and complete an impressive turnaround. A year back there were questions about the manager, the chairman and the players, now only a certain question about the player remains and that is a very good thing.

Mr Savan Shah was keen to sack Jorge Jesus at the start of the season but his advisors suggested otherwise and it has paid dividends as a full season granted him the chance to instil his ideas in the team and which often showed. However, the Chairman and the manager both agree for once that the lack of goals is a concern as they try to find a goalscorer for the club especially after being trumped by Luis Suarez by Stoke and chairman Stonecold.

The real question today is, is this a step forward or is just a hoax and the club will fall into a malaise again? The Chairman with however number of faults he has can't be blamed for his lack of passion as he tries to turn WBA into a genuine force but it is still a huge task and road ahead. So will it be a step forward or will we see 2 steps back in the upcoming season? Only time will tell.

Right now the midland club can celebrate what is a historic and fortunate European berth and try to make the most of it as they announce themselves to the world.

I am back in the country guys and will get the game updated today with all your transfer business.....window closes at 12 midday. I might not have a SIM done today though and that may be tomorrow I'm afraid....but I will try my best

Do whatever you can mate, I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say your hard work on this is very much appreciated!

Looking forward to this update as I didn't manage to put much time into things for last season, hence no transfers and no updates. Will be putting more time into this coming season.

The following players have been booted due to inactivity....

Kodjia Master - Bristol City

Hey there mate! glad to see someone started a chairman game this year! **** it's been a while since I posted on here hahaha but any chance I could join this? If you want to wait a season or past the transfer window so you're not overwhelmed don't worry about it, still would love to take part though!

EDIT: great job running this so far! :)

Hi mate. As we've just finished a transfer window I'm not allowing new players until the end of the season. But please keep an eye on the thread and message me when this season is over and you're more than welcome to join. We're averaging a season a week at the moment so should be into season 5 by the weekend

Awesome, looking forward to it! hope I can get a decent side hahaha (considering I've seen the likes of Pulisic and Arp at Blackburn I might struggle lol)

I think it could be another tough season for chairman run clubs in the championship. Looking at the non-chairman teams who made the playoffs but didn’t go up and the teams coming down it looks like a real strong set of non-chairman teams.

ENGLISH PREMIER DIVISION

Now before we get on to our chairman clubs, just take a look at Chelsea struggling down in 17th after the opening 8 games! Stoke, Leeds and Middlesbrough have made a great start and sit 6th, 7th and 8th respectively. West Brom and Blackburn are mid table in what is a very close division at present!

SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP

Nottingham Forest and Millwall have made a brilliant start to the campaign and sit 2nd and 3rd after the first 11 games. Aston Villa, Norwich, Brentford and Preston all occupy places in the top 10, whilst Sheffield Wednesday look like early contenders to battle relegation this season!

View attachment 18613

SKY BET LEAGUE ONE

Our League One participants, Wigan, have made a solid enough start to life in the 3rd tier and sit 2nd only to Luton after the early stages.

CARABAO CUP

As we enter the 4th round stage of the competition, Leeds, Stoke, West Brom, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Blackburn all still remain!

EUROPA LEAGUE

Stoke suffered a tough draw in the Europa League with both Atletic Bilbao and Zenit in Group L, and they've only managed a single point from their opening 2 games. West Brom, on the other hand, have made a perfect start of 2 wins from 2 and top Group K.

Well done to Stonecold and Savan - you have done extremely well to turn around both Stoke and West Brom's fortunes!

That Pellegri transfer has got to sting! Big money, but surely a virtually irreplaceable striker!

And for ONLY £62m! Dont think i've seen him move for less that £80m! We were robbed. £12m on a right back we do not need isnt great and we wont see much of that transfer money due to our wage budget eating away most of that money every month.

I have to admit your wage budget is impressive or possibly worrying.

January Update

JANUARY UPDATE

MANAGER MOVEMENTS

West Brom - Sacked Jorge Jesus - Replaced with Viktor Goncharenko
Sheffield Wednesday - Sacked Dean Keates - Replaced with Steve McClaren
Preston - Alex Neil left club to join Fulham - Replaced with Javi Garcia
Sunderland - Sacked Simone Inzaghi - Replaced with Albert Celades

Chairmen with sacked manager, please let me know what you'd like me to do...

1) I can either reinstate your manager again for free (even if this manager has gone to another club, you will have 1st choice to keep him, even if he has gone to another chairman club)
2) You can replace them with someone else (you'll only have to pay compensation to your new manager's club if they have one, unless it's a chairman club in which case you can have them back for free).
3) Keep the manager who has taken over your club on the game for which there will be no fee as the game will have already worked out and taken any compensation from your balance (unless it's another chairman's manager and they want them back, in which case you'll have to revert to option 1 or 2 above).

If your manager was not sacked and left the club (Derby in this instance), then you cannot re-appoint him for free! You can either stick with the manager who has taken over, or you can appoint a new one of your own but if they have a club then you'll have to pay compensation!

ENGLISH PREMIER DIVISION

Stoke continue to lead the way of all the chairman clubs, sitting 7th at the half way stage, but a good 19 points off Man Utd at the top! Leeds, Middlesbrough and West Brom are all within 6 points of Stoke, whilst Blackburn have been sucked into the relegation battle!

View attachment 18591

SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP

Two chairman clubs sit 1st and 2nd on 50 points as Nottingham Forest have continued their amazing start to the season, now extended to the entire first half of the campaign. Villa are expected to be where they are! Millwall have fallen away and now sit outside the playoff spots, with Norwich and Preston sitting above them! Brentford are still within touching distance of the playoff places! None of our sides occupy the bottom 3 positions at the moment, although Sheffield Wednesday and QPR are definitely being drawn into the relegation battle.

View attachment 18590

SKY BET LEAGUE ONE

Wigan are still within touching distance of the automatic promotion spots, but have fallen 8 points off top spot and now sit 4th at the halfway stage.

View attachment 18589

CARABAO CUP

Could we potentially have our first domestic cup win on our hands as two chairman clubs have made it to the semi finals of the Carabao Cup. Middlesbrough will take on Spurs, whilst Leeds play Everton in the other semi!

View attachment 18588

FA CUP

The draw for the 3rd round of the FA Cup sees an all chairman affair as QPR take on Norwich. From the rest, Aston Villa have the dreaded away tie at Man City, whilst Birmingham will host Liverpool!

View attachment 18587

CHECKATRADE TROPHY

Wigan have made it to the 3rd round of the Northern Section and will play Burton in the next round.

View attachment 18586

EUROPA LEAGUE

West Brom and Stoke both made it through their groups to the knockout stages!

View attachment 18585

And both have very winnable ties in the first knockout round!
