Rowett Sacked!!!
i actually made this decision in January when i wanted to make the move. I believe that if we had made a change in January we would be in the Premiership right now. I have confirmed a new manager with TheNotSoSpecialOne but getting cold feet and may have found a more suitable man for the job. More to follow once the window is closed!

As for last season as im sure you can tell i am furious that we couldnt finish in the top 2 and i put the blame at Gary Rowetts feet. A squad with Premier League winner and a man starting for Barcelona in real life as well as having two of worlds best u18 strikers and the best keeper in the league yet he still fell short. The next manager wont get the same level or investment after Rowett failed me the new man will have to win my trust.

Swansea City 2018/19 End of Season Summary

First Half of The Season
After the great news at the start of the season that mathhow was replacing the previous American ownership that has taken Swansea out of the Premiere League, Swansea really struggled during the first half of the season.
Swansea really lacked creativity and goals, particularly with Wilfred Bony being out injured until mid-December. Coming towards the end of 2018 Swansea had a run of games with 1 win in 11 with a run of 5 consecutive losses in that same period. The result was ending the year in the relegation zone with the lowest number of goals scored in the league.

Second Half of The Season
After the sacking of Graham Potter, mathhow looked at various options and considered going with an experienced and available manager like Sam Allardyce or Steve Bruce to steady the ship, but in the end decided to give a young British manager Joe Edwards a chance.
The decision paid off immediately with an immediate change in fortunes for the Swans, winning their first 5 games under Edwards which included a 2-1 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup 4th Round.
Swansea’s good form continued through the remainder of the season and they ended up climbing the table, moving from the relegation zone to competing for a playoff place. A win in the last game of the season would’ve seen Swansea make the playoffs, but a draw away to Stoke left them in 7th place and one point outside the playoffs.
Fans Player of The Season – Cameron Carter-Vickers (On Loan)
Top Scorer – Oliver McBurnie
Transfers In
- Paul Morer – FT
- David Turnbull – FT
Transfers Out
- Leroy Fer – £2.8m

2019/20 Season Plans
Target – Continue good form from the second half of the season and compete for promotion.
Concerns – Finances not looking great, currently have a negative balance meaning spending on players and wages needs to be carefully managed. As a result no players are being transfer listed by mathhow until the financial situation at the club improves.

Looks like my loan signing is missing from the list?

Some unbelievable player signings and those managers in the championship. Thinking it’s going to be a **** of a season!

Birmingham getting Luiz for £27k per week!! Nice business.

Happy with the deals I achieved. Annoyed at West Brom stealing two of my EXP bids!! That West Brom midfield is going to be brutal with De Jong, Pereira and Bentancur! Plus whatever happens with the managers choices.

When is the next updated expected? And will our players be placed on the transfer list that we posted beforehand?

Great job by the way.

Just updating all your transfers in the editor as we speak. Hoping to get an update up tonight lads....hopefully!!

Simming to the end of September lads....I will be simplifying the updates on the thread as I'm now following 3 divisions...hope thats OK!

You can download the file and see all the player/team stats and manager awards etc...for your write ups in the thread!

Wow - seriously impressed with Savan’s dealings! Great job mate. andy_14clark - were you after Meret also? I tried to get him as well but was trumped by the Baggies.

Actually just went through the list in detail. Am really impressed with a number of these. I think dporter8999 has QPR both primed for an immediate return but also ready for sustained success. andy_14clark has strengthened well following Sunderland’s promotion and I woldn’t be surprised to see them earn back to back promotions.

Stonecold has been very shrewd this summer as has TNSSO and BCFC was able to bring in some real quality while RVP20 has used this as a signal of intent! Boro will be strong too. Great work gents and looking forward to how the season plays out. Hopefully I have bulk funds in January to play with!!!

August September Update

AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2019 UPDATE

PREMIER LEAGUE

Dean Smith abandoned Aston Villa after getting them up last season to join Crystal Palace. Villa have replaced him with Vincenzo Montella! Yeti01 you'll have a chance to replace Montella in the January window if you wish!

West Brom have made a very impressive start in the Premier Division and sit 3rd and are the only unbeaten side in the league! At the other end, Aston Villa are in the relegation spots, with Blackburn just above them on goal difference!

View attachment 20709

SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP

The opening day of the season and there were wins for Swansea, Bristol City, Derby, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Norwich and then Stoke who beat Leeds on the Sunday!

View attachment 20708

Our managers did a little bit of business of their own in the transfer window....none more than new Stoke boss Mauricio Pochettino who has had a complete clearout!! stonecold should have some fun in the January window with his current balance standing at £53 million (on 10th August).

View attachment 20707

At the end of September, 3 of the top 4 are non chairman clubs as Millwall lead the way! Bristol City, Swansea and Sunderland all sit in the playoff places, whilst Wigan sit in the relegation spots after 10 games!

View attachment 20706

SKY BET LEAGUE ONE

QPR kick off their League One campaign with a home defeat to Luton!

View attachment 20705

QPR have recovered well from their opening day defeat and sit 2nd after 11 games in League One!

No it was the other two, I thought I would sneak in with Pereira but Baggies smashed my contract offer and only just beat my Origi bid.

Appreciate the comments. I haven’t seen the update yet but hopefully will do well. Took a gamble paying £6m for a 16 year old.

6th, I’ll take that. It looks like start well looking at the form and hit a bad patch towards through September.

I just can’t seem to shift my players even on the transfer list.

Looking forward to the next update. Probably have no money left to spend haha.

SUNDERLAND TRANSFER AND AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2019 UPDATE

Transfers Out

View attachment 20702

I was hoping we had got rid of more than the above, in fact I was hoping to sell the above but we only ended up loaning players out instead.

TRANSFERS IN

View attachment 20700
Now I was extremely happy with the business done during the transfer window except this has now left John Toshack with no transfer funds and wages are £123k in the red! I was hoping yo offload some contracts to help reduce this deficit but did not go as planned.

Firstly I knew we had to improve in goaltending and defence. I did have a few players shortlisted for these roles, however due to transfer restrictions I wasn't able to pick up all those wanted. Firstly goalkeepers. I had two players listed for this spot (Itumelung Khune was the other) but I thought out of the two, Predrag Rajkovic was the better of the two and has the most potential to grow and to pick up the players for only £2m was worth the investment.

Now onto the defence. This is a position I invested in heavily signing 5 players. Free agents Antonio Valencia and Jordan Lukaku were hard to not go for an arrive to fill our full back roles. I also used my other EXP position to pick up Dedryck Boyata on a free from Celtic paying on £11k a week and an £8.5m value. He will partner Lamine Kone who returns from Strasbourg. I wanted to sign Ross McCrorie on a permanent deal, however due to restrictions and wanting to other FGN signing, we were restricted to a loan for the season. He will provide back up to our main two. The final signing was a big one and definitely an investment in the future. And this was the signing of 16 year old Arsenal Centre Back Josh Dobson who looks like an amazing prospect. Andres Rodriguez was the final player we brought in with us looking to the future against and will likely partner or challenge Dobson.

Moving onto my midfield and I feel I didn't invest enough in the central position especially after losing out on Andreas Pereira to West Brom. Brahim Diaz was brought in to player the AMC role best suited to Toshack's favoured tactic and will likely take this spot over from Honeyman. We also brought in Trevor Clarke from Brentford in a deal for £100,000 which we believe to be a bargain as he has amazing potential if he gets games. The other is Eddy Salcedo from Genoa who is one for the future but actually looks to be prominent in Toshacks side keeping out Clarke who was dropped to the U23's with Maguire.

Lastly was the forward position and I felt we needed to replace Charlie Wyke who we ended loaning out to Bolton. First I targeted Jan Mlakar of Maribor who we manged to signed for £1,950,000. We felt a third was needed and when Zach Clough was available at £250k, it was definitely worth the fee.

RESULTS

View attachment 20695
Now I am very happy with the start we have had as we find ourselves in 6th place. An amazing start saw us almost have a 100% record throughout the month of August bar the draw against Middlesbrough. We then struggled a little in September which was a tough month for us drawing 2 in the league and losing 2. But we find ourselves in the 4th round of the Carabao cup with a home tie against Everton coming up.

Hopefully we can keep this from October to December then have a look to see how things financial looks as I think the focus will be to try and get rid of some of the dead wood in the U23's like Cattermole, Maguire etc.

“I try never to get too high when things are going well. I try never to get too low when things are going poorly. I try to keep an even keel.”
Barack Obama

Fresh off their victory in last season's championship you would have forgiven Aston Villa's fans for starting to dream of things to come. Playing in a large stadium, with the promises of Premier League riches to help with the task of staying up things were looking pretty rosey.

Which is why, in what time will decide is a good or a bad move, it is also not hard to feel sorry for Villa fans after Dean Smith somewhat pulled the proverbial rug out from under their feet. Sure, they didn't have significant funds to play with in this window but that didn't stop him spending what funds had been available on Sven Bender and Michael Jacobs which makes his switch to Crystal Palace weeks out from Vill's first preseason game so questionable.

View attachment 20690

Also questionable, was the club's decision to continue with the transfer Smith had arranged for Dmitri Oberlin, sending a package that could end up exceeding 10 million points to Basel for the pacey forward, especially when there significantly better options available.

View attachment 20689

Subsequent to that move, Villa's eccentric owner then made, what appears on the surface at least, to be shrewd move, appoint Vincenzo Montella as Smith's successor, one of the best managers available. With experience at the top level in Spain and Italy, Montella began his transfer dealings by offloading Jonathan Kodjia, ostensibly to offset some of the outlay on Oberlin.

View attachment 20685
View attachment 20684

Active also in the loan market, Montella has overseen a slow, but steady start to the season. Although currently sitting in a relegation spot, a review of the schedule so far only shows one result that could really be described as "bad" - the home loss to Bournemouth. In all other games Villa have been right there even away from home have given a decent account of themselves at places such as Manchester City and Arsenal. What is becoming apparent though is that, whilst Villa appear to be quite solid at the back, goals are proved difficult to come by and that is what they will need to convert some of their current draws into wins. The current strike options will be given their chance, but it is obvious that Villa will be active in looking for reinforcements at that position in January if things don't change dramatically. No one player has scored more than a single goal so far and Oberlin's solitary strike was 'only' in the Carabao cup loss to Norwich.
