...
but u have completely proved me wrong u r doing really well wid the cook islands

Was delighted with last weeks performance, hopefully we can continue the form into the next game against Tahiti. A country well known for well...NOTHING. I expect the 3 points. Want the lads to put on a great show for the spectators today..

Right guys I am expecting a big performance from all of you today. This team have no threat at all. Lets take 3 or 4 of them and make the other competitors fear us. Play with a lot of passion today, there are scouts out there watching you. This is the gateway to the big bucks in western football. i want to see sweat dripping out of you by the end of 90 min
utes, Don't give them a seconds piece, in their faces all the time. Lets go and get the win !!

CLASSIC PERFORMANCE SEES COOK ISLANDS REMAIN TOP OF GROUP "C"

Another solid performance by Peter Hewitt's Cook Islands, see's them remain top of their
group and depending on the result of tomorrows match between Papua New Guinea and Wallis & Futuna could see them qualify before their third match on Monday against New Guinea. 4 minutes into the match Cook Islands centre half Rob Mackenzie was sent off for a last man challenge on a Tahiti midfielder who was through on goal. Then Tahiti took a surprise lead on 17 minutes after an error from Steve Cuthers let the opposition in on goal to go one up. It was another wake up call for the Cook's side as they dominated the rest of the first half scoring 2 crackers 5 minutes within each other. The second half was a memorable one for Martin Samuel who scored from two corners with towering headers. Hewitt's unbeaten r
un now extends to 9. An astonishing record.

Another excellent comeback by the boys, hate going behind, need to sort that out. The sending off was a definite and can't blame the referee or the player. It all turned out really well anyway. I was delighted by big Martin Samuel's performance, he was really dominant in the air and scored 2 great headers straight from the training ground. Hopefully results go our way and an get an early qualification

This is a fantasic story mate, cant stop reading it, its te first thing I do when I come onto the website! Keep it up!

Well the result in the other match never went the way I wanted it to be, but i have faith the lads will get us through. It's a tough task. Our previous encounter was very close and it was a narrow win for us. I must say i am absolutely ******* it. I don't want to let the Island down, with a bad tactic or substitution etc.

C'MON LADS. We can do this tonight. Lets get to the quarter finals. It's going to be a to
ugh shift tonight. But we can you can do it, have a bit of belief, go out their KNOWING we are going to win this match. Keep it tight first 15 minutes, then i want us to really have a go at them, attack after attack. Good luck out there tonight..

COOKS VINTAGE DISPLAY ENSURES QUARTER FINAL PLACE IN PACIFIC GAMES

Yet another fantastic display from the Cook Islands yesterday against Papua New Guinea saw them reach the quarter finals of the pacific cup. The stadium was bouncing, the fans were incredible, it seemed to be a highly anticipated game around this place. The game kicked off and after 22 seconds Papua New Guinea had hit the bar. Another shaky start for Hewitt's men. But that was soon all forgotten 18 minutes into the match when Paul Luiz Van Eijk scored a tap in after some great link up play with Tikalla The Cook Islands started to relax and "let their hair down" and started to knock the ball around poeticly. It was a sheer joy to watch. Cooks then sealed the victory withing 2 more goals coming in the first half. A 30th minute wonder strike from Tikalla let the boys sit back . But Hewitt's mentality is to go for more, and it paid of 15 minutes later home when one of the opposing players headed the ball into his own net. Papua New Guinea were pretty poor but made some decent chances to get themselves back into the game.

Great to be through to the Quarter finals. The players were magnificent. Absolutely delighted with the standard of performances over the group stage. 3 wins from 3 and going strong. The draw has been good to us giving us Vanuatu Think we should win that tie definitely.

ANOTHER CLASS DISPLAY FROM COOK ISLANDS PUTS THEM INTO SEMI FINALS

Yesterday afternoon, The Cook Islands performed a masterpiece of football. The best i have yet seen since i've been out here in New Caledonia. They dominated from the start and Tikalla worked well with his strike partner then slotted the ball home into the bottom corner. They then went on too miss a countless number of chances before they were forced to pay for their poor finishing a minute into stoppage time when they equalised through some neat passing play before Pita Maki put the ball in the top corner. The second half was a memorable one for the Cook's scoring 3 goals to send them through to the semi's. Tikalla scored once again to take him to 5 goals in the tournament on 53 minutes. Once again a lot of chances where created by the cooks but none where converted til the 82nd when Teariki Piri was brought down in the box, he then shook the knock off to slot the ball home and seal the victory for Hewitt's greens. The tie was definitely over when Martin Samuel smashed the ball into the top corner from a free kick 35 yards from goal.

MANAGERS SAY

What a performance by the boys, they were outstanding. The played some really good football and made it look easy for most parts of the game. Best game Tikalla has played in the green shirts for
us also. He was outstanding, so proud of the boys. They have came a very long way in such a short space of time, i need to salute them for being so great for me this year ..

This is a huge day for me, really excited. A final in my first year in charge would be nothing short of a miracle. We beat our next opposition in the group stages. Think we could do it again if i'm honest. Lot of speculation about my future in the media at the moment and it's starting to get to my head a little. I cannot reiterate enough that i am staying with the Cook Islands for the foreseeable future.

Who here doesn't believe we can win this cup ?. if you don't then get out of this dressing room right now, 2 games. 2 winnable games and we are kings of the pacific. I want to see a composed performance today, i have seen quite a lot of scouts already out there, if we win today and put on a show they'll be interested, some big clubs too. I want all of you to be playing abroad. So go out there and prove to me and the world you deserve that opport
unity. COME ON BOYS !!

TIKALLA PULLS COOK ISLANDS INTO FINAL SINGLE HANDEDLY

Tikalla last night
put in a sensational performance to help his Island reach their first ever final. The striker recently signed for Ligue 2 side Angers and ever since has been beaming with confidence which has showed in his recent performances. He scored a double against a very weak Wallis & Futuna side. Hewitt's greens started to attack from the first whistle and could have taken the lead withing 12 seconds. Nothing much happened apart from that in the first half. Tikalla sparked too life in the second half and before his two goals could have sealed a hat trick. The breakthrough came 63 minutes in when Tikalla took it buy 6 Futuna players before lobbing the keeper, a sensational goal. 15 minutes later he played a neat one two with Paul Van Eijk and slotted the ball into the middle of the goal two seal the win for the greens. It was a great day for the fans, they were buzzing. It's a one in a life time opport
unity for them.

Managers Say

Still struggling to get my head around it, we are in a final !! I'm delighted. 5,000 Cook Islanders sailed over to be here today, it shows great support. Tikalla was once again exceptional. Hopefully some of the players follow in his footsteps and go onto European football. Kiribati in the final. We beat them 2-1 a few months back, hopefully more of the same.. Starting to get nervous

HEWITT LEAVES COOK ISLANDS FOR ANNAN BEFORE FINAL

View attachment 224963

Our sources can confirm that Peter Hewitt has taken over at Annan Athletic leaving the Cook Islands managerless before their big final against Kiribati tomorrow in New Caledonia. He agreed a deal late last night and flew into Aberdeen international airport to sign the deal, he will take over with immediate effect. This move has sparked a lot of controversy as he recently came out in the press stating he would be going nowhere in the forseeable future. His first game will be against Forfar and takes over from Harry Cairney who was fired after his involvement in a *** tape involving one of his players wives. Annan are currently 9th in the bottom tier of Scottish football and are in a relegation battle with his next opponents. He singed a 4 year deal and is on a weekly wage of £2000. A budget of around £200,000 has been made available for new players. His first press conference will be held tomorrow after his first training session with the boys.

NO WAY!!!

gutted with you're decision to join Annan Athletic :'(

Just got home from the Semi final when Sarah showed me this ludicrous website. Can't remember the name of it, but it said that i had signed a deal with Annan Athletic and left New Caledonia before the final. I chuckled hardly at this, What sad ******* would come up with a story like this, it's just pointless. I don't ever want to leave Cook Islands. It's now my home, my favourite part of the whole report was the part about LEAVING BEFORE THE FINALS. That's absolute madness. It may only be the Pacific Games but silverware is silverware, we are only a tiny island. Additionally the way the manager was fired somes up the nation of Scotland. Bunch of shaggers we are. Anyway looking forward to the final should be a sell out. 8,000 fans have travelled from our island to support the team. Should be good ..

Congratulations on getting this far g
uys, i am so proud of each and every one of you. No matter what the result today you will be known as heroes. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you have put in performance after performance and kept the islands dignity. Lets go out there and win this, do it for yourselves. For your futures. Enjoy the occasion as much as you can. Come on lads, we can do this. COOK ISLANDS ON 3 ...

COOK ISLANDS WIN PACIFIC CUP IN PENALTY SHOOT-OUT

The Cook Islands lifted their first ever trophy yesterday after winning 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out against Kiribati. The match was very boring. With Kiribati dominating in both halfs and in extra time. Both teams had a few chances to score in each half but none of them were converted into goals. Kiribati are a poor side but 7 of the Cook's squad where injured. 2 having to play through the pain barrier and as a result their injuries have worsened. During my time in New Caledonia i have been impressed with how the cook islands play their football, and in my opinion their manager is a rising star and if his loyalty doesn't stand in the way then he can go onto much better things.
