QPR 0-4 Crystal Palace
We were quality throughout and were deserved winners. We look very strong going forward and look very organised at the back. We are playing exactly how I want us to play and are taking our chances. We are now looking like genuine contenders for a Europa League space.

Liverpool 2-1 Crystal Palace
We struggled against a Liverpool side that is in a fight to win the league. Pacheco saved a late penalty from Balotelli but we just couldn't break them down to draw level.

Crystal Palace 1-2 Tottenham
This was a really tight game and we were unfortunate to see Spurs get a late winner. We deserved a point and this result saw us drop down to 8th.

LAST 6 FIXTURES
Newcastle (away)
West Ham (away)
Swansea (home)
Man Utd (away)
Chelsea (away)
Blackburn (home)

As Man City won the League Cup and are currently 7th in the League we know that that we must finish 6th to get Europa Leage football if we are to finish higher than them. So I will be keeping a close eye on their form as the season comes to a close. I will be hoping for some big away wins and to make sure we win our home games. It's going to be close - that's for sure!

Newcastle 3-0 Crystal Palace
With European Football at stake I was gutted to see us play so badly. Newcastle deserved to win the game as our defence looked complacent against a team who looked dangerous going forward.

View attachment 305855
West Ham 0-2 Crystal Palace
It was easy to see which team was fighting for european places and which was in a relegation battle. West Ham were so poor - and they had just been taken over by someone who had vowed to splash the cash to make them a european force. His first transfer window will be in the Championship. We deserved the win and were still in with a shout for Europa League.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Swansea
With the tough games we had coming up we really needed to win this game to stand any chance of catching the top 6. We dominated and didn't take our chances.

View attachment 305853
Man Utd 3-1 Crystal Palace
This result made sure that we could not catch up for european qualification. It was always going to be tough but we were hoping our form against big teams could continue here but sadly that was not the case.

View attachment 305852
Chelsea 4-3 Crystal Palace
We made them work hard for all 3 points, and more importantly winning the Premier League. This game all but secured them the title. A tough defeat to take and confidence was as low as it has been all season after this result.

Crystal Palace 2-0 Blackburn
Ben Arfa won us the game. He has been superb all season and stepped up again today to cause Blackburns defence all sorts of problems. The biggest problem though was relegation back to the Championship.

LEAGUE TABLE / Final position 8th

Well there we have it - we finished the season in the respectable position we targeted at the very start. After coming so close to qualifying for the Europa League however we are left feeling disappointed, but up for the task at hand next season. Gaston Gill Romero has been an inspired signing and made a huge impact in midfield. We had our injury problems this season with Abel Hernandez not really making the impact i'd hoped for. Joel Ward expressed earlier in the season that he will want to leave in the summer if a team in Europe comes in for him - so I may have problems holding on to him.

Crystal Palace announce plans to increase Selhurst Park to a 39,445 capacity.

The work will take 13 months to do and will be ready for the 2017/2018 season. Due to the nature of the improvements however we will not be able to use the ground and will be sharing Stamford Bridge with Chelsea for the next campaign.

Crystal Palace manager linked with Arsenal & Man City
Pellegrini has been sacked by City and so has Michel by Arsenal. I have been made the odds on favourite for the jobs and have been asked by the media about both vacancies. I am not sure what to do - Have I taken Palace as far as possible? Would it be wrong to leave with the improvements that are being made to the Stadium & Training Facilities? Can we realistically break into the 'Elite' group of clubs in England and seriously challenge?

ohh thats tough, look at man city and Arsenals squads see the changes they've made if your happy with their squads i'd suggest take one of them.

2015-2016 Summary

There was alot of transfer activity in the summer before the season started and alot of adjusting to do for many new players. New signing Abel Hernandez spent much of the season on the sidelines and didn't have the impact that we expected him to. We lost Lucas Romero but managed to bring in Romeu to replace him. Otherwise in January we brought in Gaston Gill Romero who has made us look really solid in midfield.

View attachment 305819

After being heavily linked with Man city & Arsenal I have decided to stay at Palace. I decided that with the stadiums capacity being brought up to 39,455 in 12 months time and sharing Stamford Bridge with Chelsea for this season that already massive progress has been made. With new captain Sviatchenko, Gaston Gill Romero, Babacar, Sergi Roberto and Ben Arfa all being stand out players this season it is up to me to play in a way that means we can have Europa League football for when we move back to Selhurst Park.

View attachment 305818

Last year we were really busy in the transfer window, this year will be much quieter and it is unlikely we will move anyone on unless they are not needed. I will look to bring in a new CB as Ilori's loan from Liverpool has ended. Otherwise I am very happy. I may look at a more attacking tactic making it possible to play 2 up front. If I can find the right balance I may bring in another Striker who is perhaps more experienced than Babacar & Abel Hernandez.

Pre Season will see us travel to Italy and play friendlies against Lecce, Atlanta & Juventus. We will be arranging some friendlies for when we return all based in the UK and will be experimenting with new tactics for the new season.

I'm pleased ur staying with palace,ur starting to build a squad that has the talent to push forward and grab European footy. It would be great if you started to try and bring some youth player into the fold.

Cheers - I think the frustrating end to the season made my mind wonder. Now i'm in the transfer window i'm really exciting about the new season. Will be strange at Stamford Bridge but hopefully we can go back to Selhurst Park with European Football.

I've not really got any players in the youth squad that are much good. I've got 1 or 2 that have decent enough potential but not close enough to being in my first team squad. May loan them out this season!

Glad you stuck rather twisting mate, you're squad is coming together nicely, I'm guessing you'll be doing less business this window as the core of your squad is very strong? Also having GGR for the whole season could be a huge difference? Awesome save so far, good luck for this season. You can get into Europe!!!!

Thanks - I'm glad too... Yeah I am happy with the core of squad. I will be adding 3/4 players due to loans ending for Ilori, Salah and Crisetig. The target this season is Europe, if I don't I might lose my job.

We are not looking to disrupt the squad too much after a fantastic season finishing 8th in the Premier League. We have seen Ilori go back to Liverpool, Salah back to Chelsea and Crisetig back to Inter Milan all after they completed season long loans last year. I am going to attempt to replace them with permanent deals as I want to build a lasting squad and although Loan deals are handy in the short term - they can be frustrating if that player doesn't wish to sign or the club want too much £££ for you to complete the deal.

We are learning a new tactic that will change the way we approach the new season being a 4-1-2-1-2 (Narrow) similar to how Liverpool lined up at the start of this season when Sturridge was fit. This means that we may look to bring in a experienced striker to compete with Abel Hernandez & Babacar as well as some more attack minded full backs who have got good assist records.

PLAYERS OUT

View attachment 305673
Yaya Sanogo £1.3m to RC Lens
Signed last year to add depth to our attack. Rarely made an appearance and when he did he struggled to cause any problems. Due to a re-shape in our tactical approach for the new season he was more likely to get game time this season and this made me nervous. I have moved him on with a view of bringing someone else more competent in.

Paul McShane Free Transfer
Signed 2 years ago to help fight against relegation. He was instrumental in our first season but last year he struggled for game time and with us looking for a CB to improve replace Ilori, McShane was not really going to get a look in. His contract expired and we decided against renewing it.

Andre Wisdom £9m from Liverpool
Tough decision this - we had Ilori on loan last year and we were looking to bring him in permanently but Liverpool wanted over £20m. Andre Wisdom had spent the last 2 seasons out at West Brom & Norwich and had impressed last year in the Championship with Norwich as they got promoted. Will come in and challenge Tomkins for a space to partner Sviatchenko in the heart of our defense. Hopefully going to to realize his huge potential.

Oliver Giroud Loan from Arsenal
I didn't really want to loan anybody this season but we have already agreed a transfer fee of £4.5m if I decide to make it permanent. We are only having to pay 30% of his wages and with this signing being a gamble based on recent form I felt a loan was appropriate. I believe Giroud has a point to prove to fans in England and with us pushing for Europe this season we needed a player of his stature in the team.

Pavel Kaderabek £7m from Hull City
As previously stated we were looking for more attacking full backs for a new formation. Kaderabek moved to the Premier League with Hull and struggled in a team that was relegated. In the Championship last year he was brilliant although they only managed to finish 12th. We feel he will be looking for him to get forward and get assists this season.

View attachment 305656

With our pre season tour of Italy around the corner we will not be doing much more business in the window. However we have been strongly linked with Dele Ali from Championship side MK Dons as well as Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool. I am tempted to add a young English midfielder to the squad and these 2 would fit the bill. We don't have much money left to spend but I feel that we are in good shape regardless if a move is possible or not.

Nice! Giroud move is very decent, seen him score loads in the league.

Try teaching Kaderabek to knock the ball past the opponent, I find this helps the wingbacks with lower dribbling attribute get by players if they have decent pace and acceleration, should help him get in to crossing positions better :)

Thanks - It looks like he may of learned this while he was at Hull.

Yeah Giroud has all the attributes to score plenty - hopefully we can get the service right for him.

Maybe a bit too much spent on Andre Wisdom, I got him for about £3 million second season in. is a good CB but also quality at RB as a limited full back.

Yeah he was an expensive signing - but I think that he will improve and be a big player for us this season. Liverpool wouldn't go any lower than that and after missing out on a few players this season I was determined to bring him in.

No doubt he will improve, was one of my best players in my Derby save. You've made some quality signings enjoyed reading this save.

TRANSFERS IN

View attachment 305595View attachment 305594
Sergio Romero £2.5m from Fiorentina
We were not looking for a goalkeeper but I hired a new Italian scout who recommended Sergio Romero stating I could get him for between £2.2m-£4m. I thought that would be nonsense and made a bid which was accepted. Sergio Romero has a basic understanding of the language and will most likely be my #1 for the new season.

View attachment 305589View attachment 305588
Sheyi Ojo £16.75m from Liverpool
Some people might think we overpaid for Sheyi Ojo - but I was determined to bring in a young English midfield player who had serious potential. I was torn between Sheyi Ojo and Delle Ali. At 19, Sheyi Ojo looks like he will be a back up player for me this season. I will use him from time to time as I seriously expect him to be a big player for Crystal Palace for years to come. Most of the fee is being payed in installments as we didn't have enough budget for the full amount.

TRANSFERS OUT

Sone Aluko £3m to Stade Rennais
Failed to get into the first team last year and I needed the cash for the arrival of Sheyi Ojo.

Fernando Pacheco £5.5m to Granada
With Sergio Romero being a surprise addition I was happy to let Pacheco leave who joined on a free transfer last year. Like as with the Aluko sale we neededto raise the cash for other deals.

View attachment 305583

I've already done more business that I expected to this Summer and I will not be looking at doing any more. Romeu is unhappy that a bid was rejected from Granada as he wants to go there to play Champions League football. I am determined to hold on to him as I don't want to have to replace him. I have the squad I want for the new season and have slapped a high asking price on hoping that Granada go looking elsewhere.

2016-2017 Tactical Overview

View attachment 305580View attachment 305579View attachment 305578

With Giroud coming in on loan I really wanted to have 2 tactics that used to strikers. I will be looking to use the 4-1-2-1-2 early in the season and will be hoping the wing backs can cause trouble for defenses. Otherwise the 4-2-4 will be used in games that I am confident in winning and maybe when I am looking for a goal. The 4-3-3 with the DM was used alot last season and I wanted to keep it. I have spent some more time on individual instructions and will be really hoping to use all 3 tactics throughout the season.

With a first team squad of 21 players I might be tempted to bring in a CB on loan to act as cover.

August 2016-2017 Fixtures

Lazar Markovic LOAN from Liverpool
We were not looking for anyone, but when Liverpool made Markovic available for loan I couldn't resist. We had Salah last season who was OK - but I am hoping Markovic will make much more of an impact. He has failed to live up to the hype since signing for Liverpool and I will hope his quality going forward will ensure we qualify for Europe this season. I will use Markovic in any of the AMC / AML / AMR positions depending on formation played.
