Southampton chairman reflects on pellegrini reign so far
Reporter: so you made a big decision sacking such a quality young manager to replace him with a 60 year old, how do you feel that has worked out so far?
Dave: he has done ok, our performances have been better than our results under him, but with a stroke of luck the results will pick up.
Reporter: how would you reflect on march?
Dave: there are certainly 2 ways to look at march, 1 is that we lost only 1 game the other is that we only won 1 league game.im a perfectionist so I'd usually look at the negative side, but our 2 home game were against united and Tottenham, so 4 points isn't bad there, whilst we did well to draw against the team I think will finish 4th(Everton) away. I am disappointed to only get 1 point out of Stoke and Aston villa but they are fighting for their lives so we must be alert against these. The 4-1 raping of arsenal in the fa cup was definitely our highlight of the season so far.
Reporter: so what do you expect and hope this season?
Dave: we're only 5 points away from relegation so we need to win a few games to assure our place next season, then push on to battle for 10th with Norwich and Newcastle.also a win against chelsea In the fa cup semi final will get us a European place I believe, as I can't see Nottingham forest beating Manchester city.
Reporter: and finally what do you make of the hull chairman (Matt smith) claims that your chairman of the season?
Dave: well of course I am flattered, and looking back on the season we have done well, with some top quality young players now here that can push us on in the future,I also believe we'd be much better of if we didn't sell schniederlin, which was very much against my wishes. However, i must say that I feel the Swansea chairman has been the best, and they'd be pushing for the top 4 now if they still had wenger.
