Disclaimer89's English Premier League Chairman Game - FM 2014 Edition

Which database would you chairmen prefer to use?

Would this though not encourage the bigger teams, who by their name can attract star players, to spend crazy money on transfer fees and wages? They'll know that the background chairman will support them. The smaller teams won't have this same pulling power in the first place and hence the bigger teams will get bigger....

I may well be wrong in this assessment though - so if this can be clarified then that'd be great.

I'm all for stimulating growth on transfer activity in the game - but would seem to be punishing those chairman who have been more financially astute up until now.

or just give every club a set amount of money each summer... 20m??? That way it is consistent and the money comes when we need it for the transfer window. With the sugar daddy chairman there is no guarantee when money is injected. So clubs could be -1m going into the transfer window and therefore no business.

Another successful transfer window from Cardiff

Cardiff city are happy to announce a few newcomers to the first and youth teams.

First up, Oriol Romeu has joined from Chelsea as a defensive midfielder. He showed good promise when he first signed for chelsea but hasn?t featured in the last couple of seasons or so. His contract was up in the summer so we made chelsea an offer to sign him in January. However, having seen some photos of the arsenal chairman on the internet, the clubs directors felt a little intimidated, and therefore decided to loan out Romeu, so that Will Hughes and Lucas Romero still get their game. Don?t worry cardiff fans, Romeu will be back.

Guido Dal Cason, a young boy from Argentina, he doesn?t speak a word of english but does have a volatile personality, so I think if anything it will be fun trying to manage him. Hopefully he will begin to feature next season. We signed another youngster from South America, in 17 yr old goalkeeper Max Elola. He is an ambitious goal keeper, so hopefully he will be pushing for the first team in a few years time.

We have been tracking santiago vergini for a number of years now, and are finally delighted to announce he?s signed on the dotted line. He is a solid defender, with premier league experience so it is hoped he will fight for a first team start in the second half of the season.

Finally, having done a good job selling some fringe players, the club noticed only 3 registered central midfielders, so made a last minute call to loan in Rafinha from barcelona. A player with loads of potential and hopefully will inject some spark when coming off the bench.

We managed to reduce some wages from selling Mutch, whittingham and connolly. We are also currently in discussions with Kenwyne Jones telling him to f**k off and not to bother reporting for training in the future. The groundsman is spending a fortune to replace the grass at the training ground where the big oath stands

Arsenal Chairman spending big once again!

The injury plagued team have had to spend big and on a few players to cover the injury crisis they have been faced with!

Key players like Szczesny, Caulker, Diego Costa, and many others have been hit hard with injuries forcing Arsenal to dip into their reserve and youth team!

Szcesney has been the only first team keeper at the squad so for the last few months they have had to resort to the youth squad for a stopper!

Mr Schwarzenegger has made this right by singing German International (I think) Ron-Robert Zieler from Hannover for 5.2m and David Stockdale on a free from the Fulham Collective!

"Zieler is here to challenge for the number 1 spot with Szczesney and this competition should help improve our defence! David will be used as a squad player and a back up until Szczesney recovers."

Other signings include Daniel Sturridge from Man City on loan and
Eugene Khacheridi from Dynamo Kyiv for 13.5m

"we needed another striker since Diego Costa got injured, we have Bony filling in but if anything happened to him we would be screwed. Hopefully we will be able to do a deal at the end of the season to keep Sturridge but you never know!"

"Eugene was a player we have been tracking for a while, Ukrainian international Centre back with experience at the top level. We needed a replacement for Koscielney in the summer but was unable to work out a deal in time. With the injuries mounting up at the back we had to make a decision to get someone in and we got our man!"

We also asked him how confident he was of avoiding the drop and what his expectations are!

"I am very confident we can avoid the drop, there is no way we are going down! I am still hopeful our new manager (not sure who is yet...if someone could check for me that would be greeeeeeeat) will get us back into the top half and possible mount a challenge for European football soon"

"Morale is low, confidence is shot and we need to address this soon or there could be trouble!"

There have been rumours that you are looking to step aside from your role as chairman of Arsenal and get back into your true passion...Nude-Blind-folded Fencing!

"That is a passion of mine but I am not looking to leave this position! I am having a wonderful time wrecking the finances Arsenal have worked hard to build up and would like to thank all other chairman and the General (Disclaimer) for making this a fun and memorable experience!"

"Now no more questions as I have wasted enough of work time writing this silly thing :P"

This seems like a sensible idea. Means all clubs would benefit equally.

I think giving sugar-daddys to everybody is a bad idea (unless it would be underwriters).
And giving everybody same amount would just get inflation.

How about announcing that FA has succeded in selling online-viewing rights (or something partly realistic) in addition to the current in-game system.

The new money could be giving after positions or a cash amount per victory over the season or something like that.

Liverpool doubles club balance during January transfer window

The new chairman has only just arrived in Liverpool, but Thompson already managed to double the club's balance in just one month by selling Tiago Ilori to Nottingham Forrest for 1 million pounds. The club still has a long way to go before the finances will be at the expected level again, but Thompson will do everything he can to make that happen.

I would say underwriter is just as bad as foreground, just because it clears the debts at the end of every season, so you could spend 300m and they will probably just clear it for you come the end of the season.

Or give out this prize money in reverse. 17th position gets more than 1st position. Even things up a little bit. Or group league standings 1-5th get the same, 6-10th get more, 11-15th get more etc. Smaller teams can then sign players from the big teams, and then in turn the big teams can sign players.

Also keep same wages for c2c transfers. Or look at reducing wages if they have started less than 5 games in the previous season. Some fringe players at bigger clubs can't be sold to smaller teams because of the high wages, young, nani etc. Keep wage increases from abroad as these are generally lower.

I guess we just need to be aware of transfer fees and wages as chairman and spend less than our turnover. But easier said than done it seems.

Wouldn't be fair on me or fulham( if the second half of the season is like the first) as we've really overachieved and won't be able to sustain success if all the people below us are given a better budget just because we had a good season

Think there a lot of similar ideas being suggested..... Once Disclaimer is back on line then we should let him decide on what could/couldn't work.

C2C deals at the same wages is good idea, lower salaries for players who don't play or are over a certain age is another....

A "bonus" payment to all clubs at the end of season also works, whether it be uniform or more for the lower teams - i don't really mind.

Other one i was thinking was the ability to jettison a max. of 2 players a season for no cost - i.e. just cancel the contract and pay no compensation - am thinking if Villa came back up and a new chairman took over and had to deal with Torres on 270k per week.... others shouldn't suffer due to Lewie's broken calculator.

I just think we need to control these elements rather than allowing the in-game chairman to control the purse strings with the foreground/background/underwriter idea.

Ultimately all these things will free up transfer fees and salaries to generate more deals in the transfer windows and make it an even better game :)

Yeah, but since we are not allowed to go over our budgets, it will still have a large effect!

The foregrounds will pump stupid and random money in the clubs and will be based on in-game chairman stats.

And I totally agree that C2C transfers should be without wage-adding (or how you say it in English) !!

Hey guys, I'm going to do the update tomorrow night. I went out for too many drinks after work; shattered so off to bed! haha

Will read all the comments tomorrow and decide on the best approach to take in regards to finances, cheers for the suggestions.

New Castle for New Boss

Newcastle United called a press conference in the early hours of this morning, and as the fog began to fall on the Tyne, an unknown man came and sat down at the head of the table.
Silence fell in the room as the smartly suited individual calmly poured himself a cup of coffee, looking over the throngs of reporters in the room.
A cough echoed as he sat down and leaned towards the microphone, and there he said the three words that brought shock, and more than an ounce of excitement to this aging journalists eyes.

"I own Newcastle".

As the clamour for questions and answers being to die down, the press conference began. Who was this man?
Did he know the club? Did he know the history? Did he even care?

Frederik Josef is the man, and he seems to talk the talk, but only time will tell if can indeed walk the walk.
Making his fortune through the world of Sports Betting, first in the industry and then as a professional gambler, the Liverpool born owner certainly knows his sport. Talks of the famous 4-3 losses to his home town team, brought excitement, the talk of a sensible financial approach was in stark contrast to the life of the new Chairman, but it was the talk of Harry Redknapp, the clubs manager, that brought more honesty.
Asked if Redknapp would remain in charge Josef answered that

"You get nothing from sacking a manager when a team is mid-table, we will look over the team and squad at the end of the season and we'll take it from there."

It wasn't so much a vote of confidence for the manager, more of a challenge to prove his worth.
I'm sure we'll hear more from and about Newcastle, and I for one hope it's mostly positive.

Elmo's January Transfer Update

View attachment 389622

Hello everybody and welcome once again to my round up of the new faces captured by The Fulham Collective over the January period.

Following a detailed and lengthy (circa 25 minutes) mid-season review by The Collective it was decided we needed to strengthen the center of midfield and get cover in for a couple of other problem areas.

Bert and the Cookie Monster were then dispatched to Europe in order pick up some bargains. Ernie stayed behind this time.... Tensions have been building for a while between him and Bert (they have been sharing a bed for 30 years, so it's understandable) and it was decided by all that he needed to spend some time considering his future. Nothing has been formally agreed yet, but, Ernie may well be moved to a back office dept. for a while. Cookie, who previously scouted under Sir Bobby, Lord Alex, Dr. Jozef and the late Tito, is well equipped to step in for the interim period to help out Bert through this tough time.... There is mention of black armbands being worn this weekend, and lets be honest, they've been worn for lesser occasions in the past :(

Incoming:-

Jesper Juelsgard. Free deal. A cultured and experienced left-back (think John Arne Riise) who will provide competition to Alex Buttner. Only eats muffins (are we sure on that fact.....?? Big Bird)

Sergiy Rybalka. Free deal. Every good team needs a Ukrainian attacking central midfielder, and now we have one. He will be cover for Manuel Fernandes. Was seen sporting a pro-Putin t-shirt during his first training session.... I'm sure that's ok though.

Ruben Pardo. 3m. With the departure of a few central midfielder's (see the below "you're dead to us list") we needed to draft in some younger replacements. Ruben joins us from Real Sociedad (who live Spain) and should acclimatize over the next few months and replace Steven N'Zonzi next season.

Oriol Romeu. Loan. The Cardiff chairman had an embarrassment of riches in midfield and so decided to let us "borrow" him until the end of the season. We would encourage Rafilla to play Mr. Romeu as often as possible as lets be fair, once he's had 5 months in west London he ain't going to want to head back to Whales.... I hear in that country they like sheep in a way that would be illegal in most US states.... :)

Maximilian Meyer. Loan. A very exciting prospect from Schalke has joined us for a few months. Will be pushing very hard for a starting place and hopefully will replace Bryan Ruiz real soon. We welcome Maxi to the club and ask all of our older fans to not mention the war, i think i mentioned it once already, but i got away with it.

Outgoing aka You're Dead To Us:-

Scott Parker, Ashkan Dejagah, David Stockdale and Derek Boateng have all been transferred for free to some other clubs. We don't care. We didn't want them. They sucked. Good riddance.

Emmanuele Giaccherini was sent back to Sunderland, he didn't play and we didn't like him. End of story.

John Heitinga has gone back to Everton for a while. If he's well behaved he can stay there.

Finally, and it is with the biggest of smiles on my face, i can report the death of Hugo Rodallega. He was *****, his family were ***** and everything he said was *****. I apologize for using such bad language in front of all the children, but, he was f*cking U*&*?&$?*&$?^(?&...... (that's enough for today Elmo, maybe lay off the sherbet next time....... Big Bird)
