The first signing is 26 year old midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz who cost 4.5m from Southampton. The German international is a versatile winger who can add to the team after Nathan Redmond joined Nottingham Forest for 5m. Second is Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho, who has signed on loan from Manchester City. Carvalho is currently suffering a minor injury but should press on to try and replace Leroy Fer; the top midfielder who cost Inter Milan 13m in the summer.
Third is Marc Muniesa, who signs for 3.5m from championship side Stoke City. The former Barcelona defender, who has played alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Peter Crouch, will now be training with Gary Hooper and Johnny Howson. Finally is Isaac Cuenca, another former Barcelona player who has come to the club on loan from Feyenoord with the view to putting ink on the dotted line this summer.

Update:

- I have corrected a couple of transfers; check the transfer update page and ensure it is correct.

- Make a few transfer changes within the Game save to reflect this, check the game save; any issues PM me.

- Finances will be updated on the first page, tomorrow.

- I'm still debating the finance boosting, was thinking something along the lines of reward finance reward for top goal scorer, manager of the year..so on an so forth. Anyone who has a good idea for the finances then PM me! (As a few people seem to be against the idea of background sugar daddies)

Press Release

Davie Bond is pleased to welcome to more new faces to the Blackburn family.

Both players come from Italy and arrive on free transfers.

27 year old Luigi Vitale arrives after his contract finished with Serie A club Napoli. He spent 10 years at Napoli though he was loaned out several times to other Italian clubs. He is a natural left wing back so he will add to the competition for that berth in the team.

Fellow Italian, Fabiano Santacroce has also us here at Ewood Park. The 28 year old centre half will be a great addition to the squad and he is said to be looking forward to playing along side one of his heroes in Alessandro Nesta.

That concludes the Rovers activity this transfer window.

Maybe you could also make some more chairman awards with cash prices - primarily for press-handling!!
But maybe also for other things like best buy etc.

The problem with this approach could be tactical-voting, but I think we are all to good for that :)

More Chairman awards is definitely something I'd like to do. I'll do an even bigger 'end of season award's update' to compliment it. Press-handling award is interesting and something I'll put in place. I'll come up with quite a few different awards.

Once again, anyone with any good ideas to give this game a little revamp, either pm me or post in this thread.

CHAPMAN DISAPPOINTED WITH PALACE RESULTS

View attachment 389301

After Crystal Palace lost their 2 matches this month, Chapman reportedly warned Tony Pulis about keeping his job. The goal Pulis is tasked with is keeping Palace in the Barclay's Premier League. Currently, Palace sit in 19th Place, with the 2nd worst goal difference in the league.

Resigned to Relegation?

A statement has been released today from The Hawthorns regarding the current footballing situation and possible future of the club. The statement covers the current position in the Premier League, Andrea Stramaccioni's position and the future of the clubs ownership.

"The Board of Directors would like state on record that this season has been completely unacceptable by any standards. The players and management team have let everybody involved with this club down in a big way. Fans have been revolting against the new owner and the board but we urge them to back Mr Guthrie as his vision for the club is something to behold.

"There is to be a change in management, this will happen before the end of February, a lot of fol may say that this is too late but that is the decision that has been made by the board. We will announce the new manager as soon as the deal is done and we are sure that this new man can lead this club forward.

"At the moment the near future of the club looks like it will be in the Championship next season, although nothing is certain at the moment it looks increasingly likely. If this does in fact occur, then this club will make all the necessary investments and improvements to make our stay in England's 2nd Tier a short one. Although being relegated from the Premier League is something no Baggies fan or board member wants to see, it is something we may have to deal with. We urge all fans to throw all your support behind the team between now and the end of the season to give us the best chance of staying in this league."

The statement from the clubs Board seems to suggest that the club is expecting relegation to come their way. It's a sad read for any Baggies fan as they must dream of watching their team come up against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and of course Hull City. The managerial change could be interesting depending on who they could get, we have listed the options below with the current odds to get the job. Future looks bleak in the Midlands but will the enthusiastic Scot stick around if they get relegated? Only time will tell.

Possible new managers

Viktor Goncharenko 5/1
Barry Ferguson 8/1
Mikael Stahre 12/1
Roy Hodgson 18/1
Steve Bruce 25/1
Pep Guardiola 500/1

Good Month for Watford, with John's decision to leave any signings completely to his manager looking like a good one. Watford have climbed two places up the table and gained 7 points as well as stretching their unbeaten run to five games, albeit with three draws in there.

With the ?2 Million or so that Mr John gave his manager, Gai Assulin, Steven Fletcher and Rais M'Bohli were brought in for a combined total of around ?3Million, with Assulin on loan, and this window saw three players leaving - Iriney released, Connor Smith loaned to Wimbledon and Mathais Rangerie heading to Sweden for a couple of hundred thousand.

In Assulin's first two games he produced some average performances, with a rating of 6.6 for the two matches from the left of midfield.

Steven Fletcher on the other hand had a very good month, with two goals in the three games he played, and an average rating of 7.2

Slight growth in Liverpool performances

It was a busy month of mixed results for Liverpool, and the club is still far away from performing as expected. After getting three draws in the league against Man City, Arsenal and Cardiff, and a win against Fulham, Liverpool managed to climb 2 places and is now in 12th place. The club has also progressed two rounds in the FA Cup, after beating Tranmere and Southampton in the 3rd and 4th round. Liverpool was also still competing in the Capital One Cup and played Manchester United in the Semi-Final. Despite a 2-1 win at home, Man Utd managed to equalize in the second leg and won after a penalty shootout. Chairman Thompson can see some improvement compared to previous months though, and is staying positive for the future.

It's admirable that you are hanging on ;)
But I would think it was fair, if you changed club to the 2 free ones - either now or reserved a spot :)

Had thought about it but dunno, i feel i could have done better with West Brom lol

Feel ive let them down and need to stick with it.

Tough Month for City

Cardiff city failed to register a victory in the league this month, although they did progress to the 5th round of the FA cup. They struggled for goals while their leading scorer, N'Djeng, is sunning himself in Morocco, at the Africa Cup of Nations. On loan striker Batshuayi waded in with two of the three league goals cardiff scored in their five games this month. On the positive side, although we didn't pick up many points we played well in all five games and with a bit more luck we could have had a vastly different month. The new faces have settled in and starting to get some game time. So things are looking good and we are on course to meet the seasons expectations of finishing mid-table.

Big Birds January Update

View attachment 389167

Hello to the all the boys and girls :)

January was fairly poor month, let's be honest.

We enjoyed being knocked out of the FA Cup by some Mickey Mouse northern team, the 50,000 pound bribe handed to Mr. Clattenburg before the game clearly worked.... He gave them an 11th minute penalty and after that it was just a training session for all involved.

In the League we won one, drew two and lost one.... We were particularly disappointed with our draw at home to West Pork. Our much changed midfield seemed to struggle up against the world class talent that is Kevin Nolan.

We have maintained our position in the top 6, but the month ahead looks dangerous and scary - games against Citeh and Arsenal are followed by tricky clashes with The Palace, Cardiff Dragons, What Ford and Sherwood Forest..... We hope to stay in the places which enable us to go on a European vacation next year, but we need to find some form quickly.

New signings Rybalka and Romeu have settled well.... Max Meyer is already injured, which is very annoying. Manuel Fernandes is also still hurt, we hope he'll back in March.

No player of the month award will be issued this month.

Honeymoon Over Already

Newcastle are in trouble, just ask anyone. One month after Frederik Josef unveiled himself has chairman, soon quarters are calling for the new man's head. The reasons are what you might expect, but is it to soon for the reaction? We took a look below:

Transfers - Well, there weren't any; permanent or loan. The Chairman yesterday blamed the timing of the takeover and promised that the squad would be expanding in the off season, but is rumoured to be privately angry with Harry Redknapp for not delving into the transfer market when players were available to improve the squad.

Form - There have been four games now, and just a solitary point to show for them. Against relegation threatened Arsenal. This needs to be improved if support for the chairman is to continue.

The 'R' word - This writer is not going to say it, the same way I won't say 'Macbeth' in the theatre. I will however think about it. If the 'R' word did occur then the chairman could be on his way out after stopping by just to pay players wages for a few months.

The next two months are going to be crucial for Frederik Josef, it's too soon for me to judge. It took me two weeks just to get my office seat to the right position, so I can't imagine how much work Josef has put in to get the team molded in the right direction.

West Ham Chairman praises adaptive Roberto Martinez
Raul, has gone on to say that he is a massive fan of Roberto Martinez. Despite the Hammers lying in 11th place. "With three owners in such a small period of time, its hard to concentrate of football" stated Raul. West Ham, who are predicted to be a mediocre mid-table side, will be extremely pleased with the position the team finds itself in. "The situation at the club, isn't at all ideal, the club needs to improve financially", as Raul gave us an insight into the clubs financial position. However the club was still able to pull off three great deals, for barely any fees, signing Boateng, Dejagah on permanent deals from Fulham, as well as welcoming promising English winger Oxlade Chamberlain on a six month loan deal. Raul is certainly looking forward to the remaining games in the premier league, and has stated that the players and manager can do their business with no pressure as they have already fulfilled the aims of avoiding relegation after the start of the Raul era.

Well the Hogmanay party was a smash and the new guys all looked as though they enjoyed themselves. Hopefully it lets them all gel as a squad a little quicker as well.

So 3 days afterwards, with hangovers eventually fading away, it was the 3rd round of the FA Cup and an away match at the Madelski Stadium against Reading currently placed 9th in the Championship. New boys Fabiano Santacroce, Luigi Vitale, Peter Whittingham and Scott Parker all made their debuts in a 2-1 victory. All 3 goals were scored in a crazy 3 minute spell in the first half. Firstly man of the match Jordan Rhodes hit his 11th of the season only for Eduardo to equalise straight from the kick off. Then team captain Jason Lowe repeated the feat to put us ahead again. The draw after the match pitted us against another team from the Championship, QPR at Loftus Road.

Our first league game of the new year saw us travel to West Brom where we fought out a 2-2 draw. Matty Taylor made his debut in this game where Matthew Kilgallon scored his first goal of the season and Rudy Gestede hit his 7th of the season only for Stephane Sessegnon to peg us back each time.

The first home game of the new year saw us welcome league leaders Chelsea. The game somehow ended up a 1-1 draw. Although Chelsea had nearly double the posession that we had, we absolutely pounded their goal with 8 out of 16 shots on target compared to their 2 out of 8. If our strikers had only been a little more punishing in could have ended up a rout. Again Jordan Rhodes (12) was the goalscorer for us.

Next up was a spanking from Norwich at Carrow Road where they hit the net with 3 of their 5 shots on target. A very poor performance from everyone in this game and Gianfranco had everyone locked up in the changing room for an hour after the game.

After that poor performance it was good to get away from league duty and play QPR in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Jordan Rhodes (13) had another great game for us scoring yet another goal on his way to collecting his 2nd Man of the Match award, both funnily enough coming in the cup. Rudy Gestede (8) scored the second goal after Loic Remy had brought QPR level. Next up in the cup is a home match against league leaders Chelsea on St Valentines Day.

After the QPR game we travelled down the coast to meet Southampton as we returned to league business. Southampton are having a fantastic season and they continued that form as they beat us 2-0. Nothing to say here apart from the fact that we were just beat by the better team on the day.

And we finished the month with a home game against West Ham. A dreadful end to the month as we lose 2-0 to the Hammers. Only two players managed a rating above 7.

So overall a very poor month for Blackburn as we only pick up 2 points from a maximum of 15. And as such we fall back to just above the relegation zone. Lets hope for a better February and a climb back up the table.
