Fans and Players Unite

Two months ago the Board of Directors at West Bromich Albion FC released a statement stating that the club was prepared for relegation. In the statement the Board asked for the fans to get behind the team and management to make sure the team stayed in the division. Eight weeks down the line and things are looking slight rosier for The Baggies. With 5 wins in their last 7 games, things are certainly looking up in the Midlands. With the rumoured managerial change in the pipes, you have to wonder if this has also spurred Stramaccioni on. Whatever has happened in the last 2 months, it has put West Brom on a great run and pushed them up the table. With Everton struggling at the bottom and two recently promoted teams around them, things certainly look in favour of West Brom.

Saying that, there is still a long way to go and a lot of work still has to be done here, even more so if they stay up as the current regime isn't working as it should. That falls on the shoulders of the "Big Scot" Angus Guthrie, the current owner and Chairman. He has apparantly being making moves behind the scenes to get this club going forward, what those moves are, we don't know but its one of the main reasons we haven't heard directly from him since his flight back from Sweden.

It all seems a bit ragged at the moment but once this club pulls itself together, it could possibly go somewhere. Either way watch this space......

Invincibles reign continues as Henry takes chairman position

Following the step-down of Dennis Bergkamp, the appointment of a new chairman was of highest priority in yesterdays board meeting at Swansea City AFC. Contrary to common speculation, the invincibles' reign will continue at Liberty Stadium, as Thierry Henry was voted new chairman of the board. In a comment the legendary striker said:

"I am delighted to take over the role from my good friend Dennis, when he had to step down. It is with great honor I take on the position as chairman at this great club. I am hoping to lead this club to great success, just like I once led the invincibles' attack back at Arsenal. And just like then, I am honored to have these great companions backing me up."

Asked about the team's results this season, Henry said:

"The positive thing about this season is obviously our fantastic play in Europa League. Because of that, this has certainly been a season to remember for all Swansea fans. Besides that, we are obviously disappointed by where we are in the Premier League, but I am confident Steve MacClaren will secure our spot in the top tier."

Companion invincibles Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg will stay on the board, and the free spot left by Bergkamp will be filled by Sol Campbell. This further secure the continuing of the five year plan put in place by Dennis Bergkamp. And Thierry Henry is pleased with the recruitment of Campbell:

"Obviously, we are glad that Sol wanted you join our project here. He has a lot of football experience, not at least about the defensive side of the game, and I am sure he will add a lot to this club."

Asked about the overall progress of the club, Henry was very clear:

"We want to continue in the way we have started at this club. The five year plan put together by us and Dennis will continue to be our guideline in the future development of Swansea City AFC."

NORWICH DISAPPOINTED BY ANOTHER SECOND HALF COLLAPSE
View attachment 386449

Norwich City chairman Viktor Brezhnev has today said that he's been disappointed by another season in which the team's form has collapsed in the second half of the season. Norwich haven't won since the 1st March and have struggled to compete against fellow mid-table sides following a successful first half of the season. In January the team were hovering between 7th and 9th but have now dropped down to 13th and aren't yet safe with three games to go.

The chairman also said that the battle against relegation has been an interesting spectacle this season with Everton and West Brom confusing the bookies week after week while he congratulated his fellow chairmen on their hard work. Brezhnev has tipped Watford, Blackburn and West Brom to be relegated but admitted it would be a shame to lose any good teams to the championship. In a topsy-turvey season which could mathematically see Norwich relegated or finish 6th even this late the chairman has said nothing on the future of manager Malky Mackay, with some saying that continental coaches such as Dan Petrescu and Zinedine Zidane rumoured to be favourites if the club do decide to depart with the former Cardiff coach.

NO FOG ON THE TYNE

With three games left in the season the animosity aimed towards Newcastle owner Frederik Josef has all but disappeared.
The Magpies are no longer threatened by relegation, and are still mathematically capable of making it in to Europe; while sat in 9th place. Frederik Josef has recently got back from a scouting mission to Germany leaving him unable to attend the monthly press conference.

With the recent 5-1 victory over 16th place West Ham United still in the memory of all on Tyneside, rumours are circling that Harry Redknapp has been assured that he will still be the man in charge next season. Finances are said to be tight, the compensation paid out to Redknapp and the increased wages that adding a new manager would mean has also added to the managers security.
Josef has said that after staying up to watch the NFL Draft recently he would be turning the conference room at St. James' Park into a War Room to plan the changes in personnel for next season.

coloccini.jpg

Presumed 'Player of the Season' and captain Fabricio Coloccini turned up late for training on Tuesday, and could find himself dropped and forced out of the club, as the team introduces more discipline into a team that can only be bettered by Southampton when it comes to worst discipline.

Arnie celebrates magnificent change in form!

Arsenal's form has rocketed in recent months, unbeaten in 6 matches and winning 8 out of their last 11 Premier league matches.

This turn around has left Arnie in great spirits and very happy with his Norwegian manager! He has also stated that he plans to give Solskjaer a healthy transfer budget to see who his own managers wants to buy!

The Austrian business man has, in the past, handled all the transfers for his managers. This has been hit and miss with a lot of money spent!

Arnie said "I want Ole to know his efforts are appreciated so I will let him handle the transfers this time...with a little bit of my influence on who to buy of course!"

Time will tell if he has complete control or if Arnie will change his mind and dictate his will onto the players he will buy.

(of course he will change his mind!!!! best part is buying people!!)

The Great Escape - An Everton Story

Everton: The Great Escape

There is often a big club that sleepwalks through the season, drifts down the league and then wakes up in its pyjamas staring at the drop without quite knowing how to cope. Almost invariably, like Newcastle in 2009 or Manchester City in 1996, they are relegated, killed off by the little clubs that have learned how to scrap. Almost but not always.

Everton had frittered away this season, with injury after injury being a major setback for Moyes and his boys, and it was Moyes that paid the price for the clubs downfall, losing his job in April. After a positive start to the season, the momentum began to seep away. Even now, it seems a ridiculous allegation since Everton, beset by nerves, appear bent on suicide with the team not even able to string together a run of good form.

The turnaround in the last month almost defies belief. Profe Cruz arrives from Monterrey, Mexico and he has had instant results and his tactics have been considered alien to the English game but what a saviour he could become. Two loanees Giroud and Arteta, get Cruz off to a great start with a away victory against a Cardiff team that have been in good form this season.

A ground that had hoped to grace the Champions League this season, may well be celebrating their survival come the end of the season.

But, the real question is not whether they will go down or not, but how will they bounce back from this disastrous season? With Southall spending erratically, down seems the only possible direction for Everton.

At least for another day or two the blue half of Merseyside can believe that the Great Escape still a possibility for The Toffee.

We are staring at relegation.

That was the message from Ewood Park at the end of a topsy-turvy month.

As was stated in last months review, this was going to be the month where it would be decided if we were to stay in the Premiership or if our return to the heights of the English League was going to be a short one.

It started very poorly.

An away match against a team that came up with us last season, Notts Forest. We really needed to get a result in this game to set us up for the rest of the month. Unfortunately we fell behind to a Nicolas Castillo goal in the first half. Then the luck that we've been missing for most of the season looked as though it had returned with perfect timing as Forest had a man sent off for a very soft challenge, a yellow card at most is what most folk said. Soon we had levelled the match with Gabriel Iancu getting his 5th league goal in the 71st minute. Ten minutes after we equalised the luck that we had thought had returned was disappearing over the horizon as Fabiano Santacroce picked up with a serious injury, with the Gaffer already having used his 3 subs after Forest were reduced to 10 men we had to play out the remaining time with 10 men as well. Only 2 minutes after this body blow Nathan Redmond popped up and scored the winning goal. A terrible result for us and questions were asked why we could not beat 10 men.

Next up were Watford, the other team that were promoted with us last season. They too are struggling at the bottom of the league so this was a big game for both teams. With a bee in their bonnets from the previous week our boys put on a fine display and ran out 4-2 winners. Jordan Rhodes hit a double to take his tally to 15 for the season in the league, Peter Whittingham with his first since arriving in January and Rudy Gestede hit his 8th. A great 3 points against a team that we are fighting tooth and nail with.

WE were then away to Crystal Palace, where we fought out a tough 1-1 draw. Jordan Rhodes again with the vital goal. We would have preferred a victory in this game but it was not to be and we were probably lucky to hold out for a draw.

In the last game of the month we were at home against a Swansea side that had had a poor season although they were flying in the Euro Cup. So we knew that this would be a hard game as well. Jordan Rhodes got his 17th league goal of the season to put us one up and that is how it stayed until a moment of lapsed concentration allowed Swansea in to score with only three minutes remaining.

A very costly goal as this may turn out to be the goal that gets us relegated. A victory in this game would have got us out of the relegation zone and up to 16th spot, 2 points above the drop zone with only 3 games to go.

Our next game is probably this seasons decider for us. We are away to Everton currently on the same points as us. A win for either team will probably be enough for safety this year. Though with the games we have after this one, away to Spurs then last game at home to Man Utd, I think we need the win more than the Toffees.

Quadruple chasing summerbee speaks about chances

Reporter:so mike, not long of the season left, how has it been for you?

Summerbee: magnificent! We entered 5 competitions this season, and we can end the season having won all 5 of them!

Reporter: so do you think you can win everything?

Summerbee: of course! If we win our next 6 games we have done it. We have wrapped up the 2 smaller competitions already(community shield+league cup) and have very realistic chances with the other 3. We have a 4-0 advantage going into the second leg of the champions league semi final so I'd expect us to get to the final, and juventus/fiorentina are hardly Barcelona or bayern so we'd have a good chance there-especially if it's fiorentina. In the fa cup well play Tottenham in the final and anyone can win that match on the day,but I'm confident if our players play like they can then we will win.the premier league, although we can win it I don't think we will. We have a very difficult game away to Southampton which I just can't see us winning, and that's followed by another away trip to hull, although they have a diabolical home record. We finish the season with west ham who are good travellers so won't be easy, although hopefully well be celebrating the title against them(in real life aswell). Chelsea have 3 very easy games against Cardiff,Nottingham forest and Watford so they should win from here, however we get hope from them failing to pick up a single win in their last 7 games, aswell as their disgraceful home record where they've picked up just 22 points in 17 games(12th best in league)

Reporter:if you were to win all 5 trophys, would you need much strengthening? Or is the challenge to bring some young players into the first team squad then?

Summerbee: that is a stupid question we must strengthen every season to stop things going stale and continue sustained success. And we're bringing players through, lopes and tielemans have had chances this season and shaw is only 19 so you can fuckoff telling me to bring young players through you ******.

Reporter: predictions for other positions?
Summerbee: I've already told you to **** off now, and I couldn't give a flying **** about any fights city aren't involved in.

Summerbee then told a different reporter he was speaking out of anger, and is enjoying other battles "the relegation battle has been amazing so far, and whilst I wouldn't bet on it,I believe the current bottom 3(Watford,Blackburn and west brom)will go down). I called Everton will struggle this year if they failed to get champions league last year and it has happened, getting David Moyes as manager didn't help them either but I get on well with their chairman and hope they stay up. The top 4 is brilliant, a massive shakeup with Fulham and Southampton both looking likely to be in the champions league next season. 3rd place will be important for them as they'll have low coefficients, so would face tough teams in the qualifiers. They'll both be fighting for chairman of the year and would both be extremely worthy of winning it,but if I was going to choose it'd be southamptons, their squad is so strong from how it started without spending much, just some great wheeling dealing from their chairman. He is also a pleasure to deal with. I've not personally dealt with the Fulham chairman but he seems like a nice guy and what a decision hiring rafilla, a great scouting mission from him to find such a great young manager that A lot of people including myself would have never heard of"

Tough Month and a Voodoo Spell
View attachment 385860

It's been a tough month for cardiff picking up one point from the twelve available, has seen them slide from 6th to 12th position. This follows a poor February where they picked up four points from the twelve available.

Reporter: Have your players taken an early summer vacation, having secured premier league safety so early in the season?

Njmclare: My players are a dedicated bunch, they fight for every point, and in truth we aren't too far away. The last time we lost by more than one goal was in December, which proves how close every game is. We just haven't managed to get the rub of the green. We need to finish higher to increase our prize money to ensure we can improve the playing squad in the summer.

reporter: Maybe the players have realised this and are sabotaging the season to give you less money for transfers.

Njmclare: No, I don't think that to be true. More likely is that Kenwyne Jones has put a voodoo spell on us, having won only one game since we sacked him. We are going to get him involved in hosting the corporate days, after dinner speaking, that sort of thing. hoping that when he is more involved he will put down his shaman cloak and support the team with as much passion as I hated the individual. Now if you will excuse me, I need to go and read how to remove a voodoo spell on yahoo answers.

European dream leads Swansea into relegation?

View attachment 576576

This season has clearly been a mixed one for Swansea City. Ending a busy month with a 1-0 win at home to Schalke, the Welch club are only one game away from a Europa League final, a fantastic performance. But in the Premier League, Swansea are only two points off the relegation zone. With only a handful of games left of the season, it could still end up as a fantastic success or as a disaster.

Speaking about his club's season, new chairman Thierry Henry said:

"It has obviously been a very eventful season. The players have worked under four different managers, playing in four different competitions as well. I am delighted with our European spell, having played nine home games without losing, and being in the semi-final. Obviously, our Premier League record has very much suffered from this. But I am still confident Steve McClaren can make the team grab the needed points to secure our Premier League status. Our team is certainly good enough to do that."

Next up is a travel to Selhurst Park for Steve McClaren's men, where a win could see them passing the London team in the league table. Then away games with Schalke 04 and Manchester United await the Welsh team, followed by a potential relegation decider at Liberty Stadium, when Everton visits in the last game of the Premier League season. Nothing is certain, but that May will be a thrilling month for Swansea City.

Swansea saves Premier League status in 3-0 victory

View attachment 577914

What has been a tough season in the Premier League ended well for Swansea City. Beating Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park proved to be enough for securing a new contract in the top flight. Swansea then finished off their league campaign with a draw at home to Everton, which also fulfilled their great escape. Steve McClaren therefore landed his team at 15th place in the league table. Swansea chairman Thierry Henry expressed his views of the league season after the final game:

"I am glad we could secure our Premier League status after a tough league campaign. During my months in charge I have felt confident we were going to make it, and I am delighted to see that I was right."

Asked about his plans for the future, Henry added:
"We need to evaluate this season together in the board of directors. After that, we can see what the next steps to secure further progress are.

Thierry Henry also refused to confirm Steve McClaren will still be in the manager's seat when the next season starts:
"His work for the club is of course a part of the evaluation. Therefor I cannot say anything until we have discussed it in the board. But Steve McClaren is a very competent manager, that is for sure."

Tottenham Fires Roberto Mancini.

Following a devasting 10th finish in the Premier League, Sheringham and his displeased board has decided to let go of Roberto Mancini and make room for a fresh start for the new season. Sheringham expressed that he had no bad feelings toward Mancini, but explained his disposition as a result of the lacking confidence towards Mancini amongst the players, fans and shareholders.

View attachment 385159Mancini took over at a far from optimal stage in the season, due to work-permit issues. Since then the results has been very unstable, and the results in the Premier Division has been far from acceptable.

Mancini led Spurs to a win in the FA Cup and a semi-final spot in the Champions League - both against his former employer Manchester City.

Since Sheringham's takeover, Tottenham has won the League Cup as well as the FA Cup, and have competed as one of the last four clubs in Champions League and finished as runner-ups in Euro League.
Sheringham stated, that these results clearly shows that Tottenham is strong enough to compete in the top-4 in the Premiership, which he is looking forward to prove next season.

The board is still in the progress of making the initial steps towards finding a replacement for Mancini. Though roumers are circulating that Spurs is looking to approach current Arsenal manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Sheringham also congratulated City with their Champions League win, and Chelsea with their close winning of the BPL title.

End of Season Review
View attachment 385067

The cardiff board are generally very pleased with the season. Finishing well above our media expectation of 16th. However the board are slightly disappointed with the final three months of the season. As with any season regardless of the finish, the board are reviewing the performance of manager stefano colantuono. We hope to be sitting down with him in the next couple of days.

Fan's player of the season
Fan's player of the season goes to Yannick N'Djeng, closely followed by Matej Delac. Yannick was signed for 1.1m from FC Tunis in, yes you guessed it, Tunisia. His goals certainly helped us with our 9th place finish. There are a few teams sniffing around him due to his exceptional maiden season. We are however confident he will be playing in the red shirted bluebirds next season. Matej Delac, another player making his debut season kept the second highest clean sheets in the premier league.

Cardiff, as ever, will look to be active in the transfer window bringing in a mix of players on loan and permanent transfer. We will be producing our transfer list in the next couple of days and faxing this to the other chairmen when the FA open the transfer window.

A big thanks again to the FA for another wonderful season. Here's to many more...

End of Season

newcastle_football_team.png

Bottom half of the table does not seem good enough for the new owner; watching Newcastle's season end dimly with no wins in the last 3 games doesn't either.

Frederik Josef was recently fined by Hull after smashing the box he sat in, with his advisers, during the 3-0 defeat. Josef apologized afterwards to the Hull owner and gave him a presumably expensive bottle of red wine to show his regret for the red mist that destroyed multiple TVs and a window.
Harry Redknapp must be glad he was in the dugoout during that fatal evening. The manager as recently as last month reassured about his job might be walking on eggshells now the post season has begun.

37008621.png

Luuk de Jong who has been rumoured with a surprise move away from St. James' Park along with fellow Dutch international Tim Krul, was presented with the Player of the Season award after the final game. The Dutchman is unavailable for transfer according to the owner, but when asked about other players specifically Krul, Papisse Cisse and Vucinic among others Josef was more coy saying "We we luck at it now the season is over, we will need to improve that's for sure".

Swansea only minutes away from Europa League final

View attachment 578615

In what has clearly been the highlight of the season, Swansea City ended their Europa League campaign in Gelsenkirchen. After winning 1-0 at home to Schalke 04, the Welsh side had a good result with them to Germany. However, the Germans managed to score twice in the first half, before Ignacio Scocco scored to put Swansea back in the driver's seat. Steve McClaren's side managed to hold on for half an hour, but with 88 minutes on the clock Jefferson Farf?n scored the winning goal, putting Schalke into the final against Liverpool. Asked about his club's European season, chairman Thierry Henry said:

"I am very satisfied with our performance in the Europa League. Going all the way to the semi-final, beating clubs like Ajax, Athletic and Wolfsburg is something the whole club is very proud of. We have shown that we belong in the European cups, and hopefully we can get back out there after next season."

The European campaign seams to have affected the league negatively for Swansea, something that Henry also admitted:
"It is hard to argue against that. Hopefully next season we can focus more on the Premier League, and therefore do better there. Maybe we can also have a go at the FA Cup or the Carling Cup, which are great ways to qualify and bring home some silverware."
