November 2014 saw FC Porto hit the same problem that has troubled Price's squad since he took charge 27 months ago their inability to win penalty shoot-outs. They were knocked out of the Taca De Portugal after battering SL Benifca for 120 minutes in a penalty shootout. Porto also lost away to Real Madrid in the champions league but won the other three games in the month. FC Porto - Return To Glory December 2014 - Player Post
FC Porto Player Amongst World Player Of The Year Nominees
FC Porto were today celebrating a first for John Price, a player being nominated for the World Player Of The Year. This is the first time Price has had a player on the list and he is said to be ecstatic but 'not surprised' about it. Price will be aiming to maintain this next year as well as possibly adding more players to the list.
The player himself is Andre schurrle, the german striker who joined form Leverkusen 11 months ago. Over the year andre has played 39 times for FC Porto scoring 19 goals and making 11 assists. Its believed that his chances of actually winning the award are slim but its a step in the right direction actually being nominated.
When the draw for the champions league 1st knockout round was made FC Porto would have been expecting a game against one of the giants of the European game and they werent dissapointed. Having drawn Valencia in the next round they will feel although they offer a stern contest, that it will be a 'winnable' one compared to others that they could have played. Having the first game at home will give them the advantage of hopefully taking a lead to the Mestalla.
A month after Andre Schurrle was the first FC Porto nominee for a world award it is in fact 20 year old Lucas Andersen who claims one. Lucas today won the award for World Golden Boy, beating off contest from players such as Neymar and Draxler. Andersen is the first FC Porto player ever to win the award and was quick to dedicate the triumph to his club manager who he said 'is a key reason for my recent consistent form after the faith he showed when signing me'. Andersen looks set for a great future in the game after a great start to his career at Porto.
FC Porto - Return To Glory December 2014 - Monthly Review
Solid Month For FC Porto
FC Porto continued to impress in both domestic and european competitions during the month of December, securing an 5 point lead atop the Premier League and qualification from the champions league group. Porto won all 5 games during the month scoring 11 times and conceding just twice. Its believed that Price's main focus this season is the European competition and with a home leg against Valencia next up he is confident his team can advance.
December saw another fine month for Mattia Destro, cementing his place as by far the most deadly striker in Portugal at the moment with 5 more goals in 5 appearances taking his tally to 26 goals in 23 games.
Been good so far mate , Destro seems deadly. I also wondered what Lucas Anderson was like on this game as I havn't used him my self but seems like he's doing great aswell which is good to see because he is really good.
