FC Porto were in dominant form as the brushed aside AFC Ajax and threw group H of the champions league wide open. Silvestre Valera continued his brilliant form this season by scoring two goals within half an hour before Joao Moutinho gave Porto a three goal lead just before the break. Ajax were unable to cope with Price's mens attacking prowess and the only highlight Ajax could take from the game was a consilation goal on the 57 minute mark.

FC Porto - Return To Glory

Solid Month For Porto as their season takes shape!!

In a month that could have seen FC Porto cut adrift among their group H compatriates they showed great resolve to notch up 4 wins in 5 games scoring at will with 16 goals and conceding just 4. It was a month that saw them throw their group wide open, maintain their 4 point lead atop the Premier League and also progress in the Taca De Portugal. Price will be ecstatic that his teams form has continued through the month and that he himself has claimed his thrid straight Manager Of The Month

In a month when Silvestre Varela's form continued to impress all around the Estadio De Dragao it was his midfield teamates form that earnt the POTM accolade. Lucas Andersen put in some brilliant performances this month scoring 3 goals in 5 appearances. The young Danish attacking midfielder has really stated his claim for a starting spot for FC Porto but is said to be happy with his part at the club at the moment.

The New Porto signing is making a real name for himself

What an absolute steal you got from Dortmund mate. Gotze should be an amazing signing, hopefully help you push on in Europe, cos you don't need the extra help in the league, you're dominating! But keep going mate, I'm definitely following!

Thanks mate, yeah i was happy with the deal and with schurrle coming in were looking very strong in attack

Bringing in Schurrle and Gotze are good signings but should i play Schurrle as a striker or AM? Help would be great

Destro Takes Centre Stage For FC Porto

FC Porto 3 - Academica 0
Destro '23 '46 '86

Without the pressure of a large price tag it was believed that Mattia Destro would thrive at his new club FC Porto. Destro joined Porto in the summer on a free transfer after his contract had ran out and had made a small intermittent impact during his short stay so far. However after staking his claim for the sole striker role in the loss to Ajax Destro took complete advantage of a starting spot in the game against Academica with a performance of the highest standard and a hat-trick to go with it. With the imminent signing of Andre Schurrle both Destro and Bony are determind to stake theor claim for the number one striker in the squad and it seems Mattia has the edge.

In a must win game for FC Porto they showed the kind of desire that Price has instilled into his team. Porto went out with a game plan that had mastermind the away win against Manchester City in the previous season and that they hoped would take them to another surprise win this time. Porto defended to a man for the entire 90 minutes and took their best chance when Varela scored the winning goal on the 50 minute mark. The result means that FC Porto will have their faith in their own hands when they host League leaders Celtic in the dinal group game.

FC Porto Form Continues Into November

Consistency is said to be the key to any great team and it seems that is exactly what Mr Price has found with FC Porto. Their league form in particular is unparralelled at the moment and they continue to score goals at will making November a very happy month for the team. Price scooped his fourth successive MOTM award due to their form and it looks as though nothing can stop Porto in the pursuit for the title. The month also saw Porto take control of their own future in the Champions League and advance in the Taca De Portugal.

Premier League

Braga 2 FC Porto 3 Goals: Bony, Andersen, Varela

FC Porto 3 Academica 0 Goals: Destro (3)

Champions League (Group H)

Player Of The Month

This month saw the emergence of a key player for FC Porto in the striker position. Mattia Destro scored 6 times in 5 appearances to ensure that he was definately seen as Price's number 1 striker. Destro now has ten goals in fourteen games of which only ten were starts. Price will hope that his form continues so that they can advance from their group in the champions League.

FC Porto Face Week That Could Define Season

FC Porto will this week face two games that will shape their entire season. On Wednesday they host Celtic in the final ga,e of their champions league group knowing that only a win will guarantee their safe passage to the latter stages. Then FC Porto travel to bitter rival SL Benfica for a top of the table clash that if lost could see the momentum shift to Benfica and Porto's 6 point gap slashed in half.

Price will be doing everything he can to ensure his team have their heads on for a big week!

Toughest Month so far in my career with Porto, update will be up later on. Any opinions on my story?

FC Porto - Return To Glory

Price Endures Stormy December

A month that was set to define FC Porto's season did not go the way in which Price would have liked. With losses to both Celtic and SL Benfica it meant that they lost their six point lead in the league and were knocked out of the champions league making it the worst month of Price's managerial career so far. With wins in all three of their other games including a dramatic late winner in the league cup against Sporting it meant that a disasterous month was slightly averted as they stayed on track in domestic competitions.

Premier League

Nacional De Madeira 1 FC Porto 3 Goals: Destro, Ginter, Maicon

SL Benfica 2 FC Porto 1 Goals: Ginter

FC Porto 2 Olivierense1 Goals: Destro, Bressan

Player Of The Month

This months player of the month went to a player for one individual performance. This came during FC Porto's win over Sporting in the League Cup. After two big losses for FC Porto they were a goal down at half time and on came Mr Wellington Nem, he scored two goals in the second half including a last minute winner which helped to stabilise a rocking ship at FC Porto.

whats happened to Bony? he seems to be a bit quiet at the moment.

with Destro bagging he isnt really getting a look in, he has scored 4 goals this season compared to Destro's 12. Im rotating them and Destro is doing the job. Gotze and Schurrle about to sign...Cant wait. If they played in the CL are they eligable for Europa?

Excitement At Porto As German Stars Join!!

Although the deals were done some time ago the excitement around the Estadio De Dragao was unmistakeable today as the two German International New signings were unveiled. Mario Gotze and Andre Schurrle joined FC Porto from the respective clubs Dortmund and Leverkusen in deals which saw Moutinho join Dortmund and FC Porto part with 15,000,000 for the Leverkusen man. Its believed that the pair will help Porto push on in their pursuit of the Domestic Treble.

Price Makes Additions To Back Room Staff

Following unrest around the camp regarding the training at the club price has taken steps to make amends to his players. A number of the top players around FC Porto have been quoted as being unhappy with the level of attacking coaching and it is for this reason that Price has brought in Carsten Janker and Gerd Muller to improve the standard. Both strikers were seasoned internationals in their peak and are said to be excited about helping to take FC Porto forward.

Squad Depth See's a perfect January For FC Porto

With 9 games to play in the month of January it was going to be a real test of the depth of John Price's squad. This test was 100% passed as Porto racked up a full 9 wins during the month scoring 28 times and conceding just 6. The month saw them advance in both domestic cups and take a 5 point lead in the league putting the team in a solid position for the domestic treble Price is chasing this year.

Player Of The Month

In a month when a number of players could have claimed the player of the month award it was Mattia destro that took the accolade. His 6 goals helped FC Porto secure wins in all 9 of their games this month.

Is it a coincidence that we have win all 12 games since Gotze and Schurrle arrived? Opinions?

Goals Galore This Season For FC Porto

38 games played this season, 103 goals scored, 27 goals conceded.

Mattia Destro 21
Varela 13
Andersen 10
Nem 9
Bressan 8
Bony 7
Ginter 5
Simao 4
Schurrle 4
Gotze 4
Maicon 4
Danilo 4
Adrien 2
Rodriguez 1
Koke 1
Emidio Rafael 1

Having taken complete control of the domestic charge since the turn of the year we believe that FC Porto's success this season is down to the amount of goal that they have scored. But not just one player is chipping in with the goals, 7 players have scored more than 5 goals this season. The only players in the squad not to score are Xavier, Abdoulaye, Alex Sandro, Deco, Rolando and Miguel Lopes. Its believed that these six players are all headed for the dreaded naked run should they not find the net before the end of the season.
