Given the fact Wickham hasn't started hardly any games whatsoever for Sunderland, the board alerted me about a buyout in his goal clause.
An easy £195k in the bank, losing out on £55k i was realistically never going to get was a no brainer. Other fees remain locked in. Including a 15% sell on clause.

The first scout reports are in!

As suspected Fulham have priced me out of a move for Woodrow.

Henriquez & Dybala are looking like my real targets now. I would need a maximum of £17m for the two of them.

However, the price of Perea looks decent too. Would need £11.25m for Perea & Dybala. Both are south american so could help eachother settle in together.

Bojan is a real decent price. Will see what the scout reports say at the end of the month!

Gotta go for wickham surely, what about that young lad that cant score goals (good old roy keane) jordan rhodes?? Lol

So....THIS HAPPENED!!
This is the first game where ive started altering training to suit each game. For this game i went with defensive general and defensive movement for match prep.
Weve still been scoring loads of goals but leaking them almost just as much!
Maybe a coincidence that we ended winning following this change. But il take credit for it :-P

Seasons really taking shape. Looking forward updating the season as i approach the 20th game!!!

Crazy crazy crazy result for us!
Bonozzoli with a Hattrick!

View attachment 308091

Has been nothing short of amazing! Been key this year. My assistant alerted me to the fact his contract was due to run out in 18months. This guy is the future of Ipswich and had to keep him on!
Delighted!

My heart is saying Wickham. Would be good for the story too to see an old Ipswich player back.

HAHA RHODES!
Roy Keanes biggest mistake ever in his life, let alone his managing career. Rhodes scored like 50+ goals in the previous year in the reserves. Why we sold him will remain one of the biggest mysteries haha.

I reckon Roy Keane was given a lump sum behind closed doors. Gotta be the only reason. Needs to be investigated!

An amazing accolade for a young striker whos going to become massive!
Thought this award was maybe a little premature though! Yeah hes been awesome! But only 18 games have been the premiership! Buzzing for him though! UP THE TOWN

Ipswich players dominate young player of the month awards so far in the Prem! Grealish has got to be signed full time!!!

1st January has arrived.

The board have offered me a change of expectations. Top half finish was the highest expectation i could change to. Bringing the transfer funds to a miserable £500k. Would have had to drag the budget towards to wages to make wages ok though! Ridiculous!!

Left it at avoid relegation and £300k. Finances are really growing at the moment. If i finish in the top 10 i expect no less than £20m for the the summer transfer budget!!!

How are the finances looking?

Is rhodes an option? Imagine rhodes n wickham leadi g the town front line?!?

Just got home from the cinema!

il post a screenshot of finances ina bit.
Havnt even looked at Rhodes to be honest. Mainly because ive bought on the last two football managers and hes been shocking.
i shall have a look now though and see how hes been getting on!

Frustrated that i wasnt backed in January and have kind of been rushing through it since. Had two big defeats against Chelsea and Spurs whereas i was usually scraping a narrow defeat. The 2-2 draw away to Man City was decent though.

Considering its my first season back in the Premiership and i didnt actually sign many players. I feel ive done far better than expected. Goalkeeper, defence and attack needs improving if im to keep progressing!

View attachment 308007

At one point i was only 4 pts off the champions league spots. But the teams played their games in hand and now im too far off it to make a surprise finish there. Top 10 is pretty much guaranteed so long as i can keep a bit of momentum. Chuffed!

My final 8 fixtures see me play teams below me in the league apart from Everton & Man Utd. 15pts maximum from all those games should be a realistic target after the season we've had. Goals have dried up from Murphy though.
The whole of my defence has lost a lot of form and are not performing too well lately.
Be happy to finish this season now and see what next year has in store for us!

Final League Table & Beginning of season media predictions

View attachment 307913 View attachment 307914

A decent finish for Ipswich considering we pretty much had the same side as last season!
The table to the right shows that we were the biggest over achievers this year by 6 places.
Man City & and West Ham are the joint biggest under achievers by 6 places each.

We were the 3rd highest scoring side in the league which is amazing! However, our defence leaked so many goals. Leaving us with the same or more amount goals conceded as most of the bottom half of the league.
Defence must be strengthened in the summer!

End of season Premiership results

View attachment 307916

Some wicked results for our first season back in the Premiership! The highlights of the season have got to be drawing 2-2 against Man City in both fixtures! Beating Arsenal 4-2! Plus big wins of 6-3 over Southampton and 5-1 at Newcastle at the beginning of the season really set us on our own.

End of season League Cup RESULT

View attachment 307918

Would have liked to have done better in the cups this season. The FA Cup especially after making Semis last season. The Carling Cup again was just poor. I did field a weakened side so i cant expect to win them all!

End of season player stats in Premiership

View attachment 307915

Bonazzoli was just an absolute monster this season. Hes been tied down for the next 5 years so im delighted with that!
The picture makes it look like Daryl Murphy was amazing!....He was!.....But only for the first 23 games or so. He totally fell out of form in the second half of the season. But it shows just how well be performed in the first half to remain in the top 4 of AR & MA.

Salary Per Annum

View attachment 307907

With the second lowest annual salary in the league no doubt this has helped us increase our finances. This also proves just how much we have over achieved this season.

Average Attendance By Capacity %

View attachment 307908

After just winning promotion to the Premiership AND with a small stadium at just 30311 compared to the rest of the league. I would have expected a higher figure here.

Stadium Sellouts

View attachment 307909

Not 1 stadium sellout all season.....HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! A Delia Smith cry right now wouldn't go a miss!! WHEREEEEE AREEEE YOUUUUU?!?!?

Il be back on at the beginning of July when the players return of holiday & The Euros!

Brilliant end to the season mate...another striker to look at would be Charlie Austin, was banging them in on my Man Utd save, signed by arsenal i believe and went on to score a bucket load of goals. Also Danny Ings is pretty decent but seems to move to Newcastle after the 1st season on most my saves.
Keep up the great work, this is a very enjoyable thread to read. Looking forward to more :-)

Thanks man, nice to know ive got a few keeping tabs on this :-). You feel like youre just talking to yourself sometimes dont you hahaha.

Ive actually looked at both Charlie Austin & Danny Ings but they already left at the beginning of last season for under £1m each, to Leicester & Everton! They now want over £7m for them :-(

Ive made some real decent signings for the new season! Some eye catching backroom staff changes too!!

PRE-Pre-season news

View attachment 307836

Briliant achievement for the club as we were main climbers in the worlds rich list!

View attachment 307835

Now 35th in worlds rich list shows some progression. If we can keep progressing at the rate we have done so far, we should continue to climb! Exciting news!

View attachment 307833

Fantastic news for the future of the club. Hopefully we should see some better regens produced in our youth intakes now.

If you remember, at the beginning of last season i mentioned about a new stadium BUT i never received any news about in my inbox? Well....1 year on....this is came in my mail....
Massive massive news!

View attachment 307832

Absolutely fantastic news for the club. Makes the thread so much more exciting in my eyes, the fact that the new stadium is being named after Bobby Robson is so so relevant for this story!
I didnt have anything to do with it and i cant wait for it to be built! We need to start filling Portman Road now. If we dont start getting regular sellouts next season before this is built. Youve got to question why the club decided to build this new stadium in the first place surely?!?!
Hopefully theyl be lots of room for expansion though if we start bringing European football back to Ipswich!

View attachment 307831

Loan repayments of £375k p/m is surely going to have an adverse effect on my future budgets?! But ive made some decent young signings this window. Perhaps just one or two centre backs next summer will be all i need.

View attachment 307787
Decent profit last season which sees us wellllllll on side of the financial fair play. Getting into a routine of sticking to this will do the club all the good in the world. Keeping our finances in shape and avoiding any penalties from UEFA.

Transfers and Backroom Staff changes

View attachment 307830

Some eye catching changes for the Backroom Staff. Terry O'Connor has been decent as assistant manager. But i felt the need to make it more of my own club.
Mark Venus comes in as new Assistant Manager. Its a massive signing for the club as Mark Venus was of course a part of George Burleys Ipswich side when he was last in charge! He was one of Burleys most consistent and loyal players so its a decent signing for the thread :-)
John McGreal had also been signed, he goes straight in as an U18s coach. John McGreal was also part of George Burleys last Ipswich side. The fans will be pleased to see two old faces back at the club. John McGreeeaaaalllll OOH!

Rene Meulensteen & Xaxi Valero have been brought in to add some class and experience to our training sessions. Massive signings, shows just how far the club have come over the last 2 seasons.

Steven Gerrard retired at the end of the season. He has been arguably Liverpool & Englands most influential player of the last decade. A role model and inspiration for all young players. He will be apart of the U18s coaching set up.
John Terry also retired, i offered him a role as U18s manager, no news as yet though.

The board must have heard me talking last season as i said i would ideally like about £20m for this summer transfer window. Happy with the backing as i can further strengthen our side.

View attachment 307829

Some real decent signings this season which will improve key areas of the team!
I got all the signings done real early, i think this is the best way as they can all settle in together through pre season this way!

Jasper Cillessen - Goalkeeper

View attachment 307822View attachment 307823View attachment 307824

Id say Jasper Cillessen is probably my most important signing. Gerken done ok last season to be fair! But he did concede ALOT of goals and hes stats have been decreasing despite lots of game time. He is 31, but for a goalkeeper he is now reaching his prime supposedly. Goalkeeper was one position i definitely had to strengthen. Delighted all round with Cillessen. He has decent stats, still young at 27. His eccentricity and first touch could be better. But im sure with training and game time they will increase rapidly this season. He speaks English already which is a plus and for me, his scout report was really really good. Speed off his line maybe a little bit of as concern considering my gks role of sweeper ( a ). But neither was Gerkens. Communication, Handling, Reflexes & Composure are going to be a real good asset for my goalkeeper! Excited to see how well he does!

__________

Ryan Donk - Centre Back

View attachment 307820View attachment 307821

Ryan Donk i signed on a free transfer as his contract expired. Will provide real stiff competition for the centre backs this season and could become a first team member. His stats are really decent for cb stopper and to sign him on a free is a real coup!

________

Sam Byram - Right back/Right Midfield

View attachment 307818View attachment 307819

Sam Byram! A right back naturally but can also play at Right Mid. The last two games of last season i switched to Zero seas 442L. Which worked well and i won both games comfortably as far the stats go. I figured if i was going switch things up a bit more next season by using the 442 id need to sign as fully fledged right complete wing back. Byrams stats are superb for both Right CWB & Right WM. So his versatility come in handy. The fact he can be used in both the 442 and 343 formations is a real plus.

_____

Jack Grealish - Left Midfield

View attachment 307815View attachment 307816View attachment 307817

Jack Grealish!....Dont think i need to say much more....
Signed him on loan for an Incredible 3rd season on the trot. The fact Aston Villa almost got relegated from the Championship last year in 17th place is probably a massive factor as to why ive been so lucky to keep bringing him back on loan. Not to mention im taking his entire wages off their bill. He is slightly improving each season. Still a key player for me. Im going to look at improving his tackling this season though as its one of his weaknesses for his role of wide midfielder ( a ).
A slight difference in his contract this year.....i have the option to sign him for £21.5m at any point. Probably a bit of a high price. But if he plays aswell as he has been and my other players signings settle in quicker....European football could be a real possibility. £21.5m then becomes a bargain. He has 2 years left on his contract though, so i could bare that in mind and see how that plays out. To get him on loan for a 4th season in his final contract year at Villa could see me pick him up on a free. But i dont want to risk losing him to bigger club!

Advice on this one would definitely be appreciated :-)

________

Angelo Henriquez - Striker

View attachment 307828

View attachment 307827

A decent signing for me here i think. Hes stats are really really decent. To pick him up for only £500k i do feel like ive robbed Man Utd a bit. He becomes a world class striker providing he plays regularly.
Made a little bit of a school boy error here though as he currently needs a work permit....Hoping my request for one will be approved. If not i shouldnt struggle to loan him out while he gets one approved.
At £500k though im not going shed any tears.

_______

Paulo Dybala - Striker

View attachment 307826

View attachment 307825

Paulo Dybala, a player you all know i started scouting back in December. I kept going back to look at this player and simply couldnt resist signing him. Looks such an unreal prospect at only 22! His stats suggest he is ready to be a key player immediately and thats exactly what he will be!
He comes to the club as the only Argentinian. He is does speak fluent Italian though. Considering he will be playing alongside Bonazzoli who is Italian, this is a massive plus for me. Hoping he will settle in quickly being a roommate with Bonazzoli!

_______

View attachment 307785
One player i missed out on was this beast! Youri Tielemans. Everybody who plays Football Manager will know this guy.
Offered him a little less on weekly wages but absolutely overloaded incentives for him. Ended up missing out on him to Barcelona. Was no doubt going to be inevitable with Barcelona & Madrid chasing him aswell!
In hindsight i probably should have offered him a superb weekly wage in addition to the add-ons as a midfield 3 of Hughes, Tielemans & Grealish would have seen me sorted for a good 8 years there! Oh well though, baby steps! We are getting really strong as we go on through the seasons. Maybe in another 2 seasons or so, we can be challenging for Champions league positions on a regular basis!

Ive got a few players in my sights for loan deals. They wont be massive signings, but will provide more depth. When i decide who i want i shall update as and when.

ROLL ON THE SEASON NOW!!!

Excited for this save again! Should make the Europa league through league finish i think!

Thanks guys, pretty chuffed with my signings not going to lie.

Still undecided on the best format of keeping everyone up to date with my games.

Might try doing monthly updates this season. Which do you think is the best way?
