The group doesnt look to bad, maybe be able to squeeze second??
Its sad to see hyam as the only town boy in your first eleven, will you be trying to change this over the seasons?
Have you receieved any money from champs league yet?
How are the finances looking?? Im not obsessed, promise! ;-)

Yeah id like to think we could squeeze through to knockouts! Yeah it definitely isnt ideal to only have 1 local player in first team. But i havnt had any decent players come tbrough my intakes so its hard to really put them in my team. I dont know how the scout reports work as far as potential goes. But i have alot of 2 star potential players. If they get played regularly and perform, does the star rating increase??

haha, il leave a SS of finances for ya tonight :-)

I'm guessing your attendance is low because that's the way it was set for Portman Rd at the start of the game
In editor there is a setting which changes roughly how many people you get for attendance so maybe you have some sort of bug which hasn't changed it as the game progresses
Hopefully that will change when the new stadium is done

It is frustrating! I havnt got editor available for this save so i cant change it either :-(
Hopefully the new stadium will help my attendances!

Thanks letting me know. I presumed it must have just been a bug or something

Will Hughes and Federico Bonazzoli have signed new contract extensions to keep them at the club until 2022 on £55k & £70k p/w respectively. Managed to keep it as low as possible as i gave them contracts based mainly around incentives!

Teddy Bishop and George Fowler have been given a good amount of playing time so far this season. Hoping to give Michael Crowe a real chance in the cups and maybe another 1 or 2 youths who perform well in the U21s and U18s. Need to start concentrating on my youth a lot more!

Fowler, Bishop & Crowe are all from the original Town U21 & U18's list in season 1.

Gate receipts and money from winning champions league games will be a massive hit for our income this season!

Not looking to bad, hopefully your attendances increase this season, or youll find it hard to continually challenge the big teams without selling key players.

Great news bout bish n co, hopefully the converyor belt can start up again.

Yeah hopefully! Ive still got the new stadium to look forward to end of the season.

To be honest, i think i pay too much attention to the attributes. Ive started keeping an eye on the average ratings in the lower squads. Im not sure whats the best to go by as far as spotting a real gem in your U21s and U18s.

Any tips there?

Now ive got a solid first team who are fit and perform consistently i can afford to risk leaving a few youth players on my bench.

Not a bad start to the season i guess. Goal scoring wise Cauley Woodrow has been my standout player. He has really hit the ground running this season. Bonazzoli started off well but hasn't scored now since the 2nd game of the season. By his standards, a very worrying goal drought.

Our first Champions League game was a real quality result. Dybala playing his best game so far this season.
For the Hull game i played a rotated side. Fowler, Mings & Bishop are all home grown players here and they got a start. Was delighted to see Bishop score. He got a rating of 7.3 which was promising. He has seen a lot of action from the bench so far though. Whenever i race into a comfortable lead if i can, i bring on Fowler and Bishop.

The Capital One Cup this season means nothing to us, the board suggested the Quarter final being the expectation. After a superb win in the CL, i decided id go with the League and CL as my main priorities for the time being. So decided to play a whole new squad for the Tottenham game. Players who needed match fitness, or youngsters id like to see develop all started in the 18 man squad for this game. We ended up getting smashed 7-3. But a positive from the game was seeing Jack Sinnott scoring. He popped up a few times in pre season and to be honest he gets a lot of the action in the highlights. So obviously he is keen to be involved.

My attentions returned to the league and what was to follow was absolutely horrific. We got spanked 6-2 by Arsenal. Although many of you will think this is a standard result...it isn't. Before this game i had beaten Arsenal in our last 3 league meetings! Arsenal havnt made the top 4 for the past 2 seasons either. So, rightly so i was made favourites and i let the boys know this in the team talk. I'm not sure if i built up some confidence or if they were just on fire. But we didnt turn up at all. Deserved to lose 6-2 for certain.

Premier League Table

6 games in and i sit 3rd place. Ive had a far easier start than last year so its imperative i get a good start before i start to face off with the bigger sides. Sunderland sit top, but i seriously doubt theyl be able to keep any pace. Id expect them to be back down mid table for the next update.

Obviously that brilliant 5-2 win over Shakhtar has been our only game. Was shocked to see Gelsenkirchen beat Juventus who i play next in the CL. Hopefully i win again to really set up qualification from the group.

Fowler & Bishop are the two young home grown talents who i am really trying to merge into the first team at the moment. Theyve played a large fraction of the games played so far, albeit most of them from the bench. But even 30minutes here and there will help develop them. Oliveira & Henriquez have been very disappointing so far. Really expected some goals from both of them.
Murphy has just returned from injury so hopefully he still has some goals in him.

October & November Fixtures

View attachment 305967

My next update after October & November should see who will be going through to the knockouts in the CL.
2 tough games in Chelsea & Man Utd out of my PL games. Staying in the top 4 again will be key, as i need to build momentum.

22nd October 2017 and George Burley has just been offered the Managers Job at France and Italy.

Brilliant opportunities but it will be too much of a distraction. No thanks.

Some real good results again in the last 2 months. Surprised to have beaten Juventus in the CL. Schalke 04 deserved to beat us 1-0 at Portman Road, but the return fixture at VELTINS-arena should have seen us take all 3 points and top spot in the group. We raced into a 2-0 lead but surrendered it within 25 mins. A late surge of attacking football from us couldnt ****** the victory we so deserved from the first halfs performance.
Decent wins over Everton & Newcastle. A good 3-3 draw at Zola Arena vs Chelsea really showed we were starting to match the big teams now. Beating Man Utd 3-2 with Jack Sinnott getting on the scoresheet was brilliant. It meant we were 5 games unbeaten in the league. I decided to play the likes of Fowler, Mings, Bishop, Henriquez & Seabrook against West Ham as they were floating around the bottom of the league. I perhaps made TOO MANY changes and my team decision backfired as they smashed us 3-0. I brought on youngsters, Sinnott & Cole despite losing. They couldnt make any difference though. We ended the the last 2 months on a massive high. Beating Shahktar 3-1 away was a fabulous result and actually secured us a place in the 1st knockout round. Will be interesting to see who we get drawn against. Naturally you would like the smallest side available so you get a chance to progress. But im genuinly not bothered. We didnt expect to get out of the Group stages, and although you always want to get as far as possible in such a competition as the CL. I wouldnt be devastated to get knocked out.

If we can make it further in the competition it would be good for the Coefficients ranking in Europe and help us get a higher seeding should we qualify again.

Premier League Table

12 games played now and we are still hovering around the top position. To be second place by goal difference is awesome. If we can play in the second half of the season as well as we did last year, finishing top spot could be a real possibility. We are still overachieving which is great. Once we are expected to be finishing this high, is when the game will start becoming more tough.

Qualified with a game left to play. If we failed to beat Shahktar, it would have meant our final game against Juventus would have decided who progresse with Schalke 04. Didnt fancy a nervy game like that so im happy we finished the job and got out of the group as soon as we could :-)

Players Stats

View attachment 305822

As you can see from the players stats list, Woodrow is our run away top goalscorer at the moment. Dybala & Bonazzoli are struggling to find some real decent consistent form so far.
Happy with the amount of games my youngsters have played. I said at the beginning of the season id like to feature my youngsters a lot more.
Fowler has started in 6 and come off the bench in 4.
Bishop has started in 5 and come off the bench in 7.
Mings has started in 8 and come off the bench in 1.
Cole has come off the bench in 2.
Seabrook who is on loan from lower league Reading has started in 3 and come off bench in 4. Scoring 3 and assisting 2 is brilliant for the young striker who im hoping to sign eventually.
Jack Sinnott who randomly impressed in our tour of USA pre season has started in 1 and come off the bench in 5. Scoring 2 goals is a decent return for the youngster who has been scoring a lot of goals for the U21s when not picked for the 1st team squad.

December Fixtures

View attachment 305821

December is a busy month so ill do 1 month in my next update. This will take us into January so i can do a good update on the transfer window before showing the January results.
Im not expecting to make any real moves in January. But i am scouting quite a few young centre backs at the moment. Berra is getting old and not performing as well as he has done. Chambers has decided he wants to move following his lack of first team football. With Mings pushing for the first team ahead of Berra now. That leaves me with just Fowler as back up for my cbs. Maybe one more cb for the 2nd half of the season would be good. But i doubt to see much more activity. Maybe a small chance of us bringing in a young goalkeeper. But theres no urgency there just yet.

Hope youre all still enjoying this thread. Ive noticed there are alot of guests following this from time to time, be good to see them sign up to the site and let me know they think. Im sure theres alot of silent followers about to.

An unbeaten month for us which included some tough matches for us. Juventus and Tottenham coming to Portman Road and the visit to Anfield to play Liverpool.
Beating Liverpool & Tottenham in the league will surely prove crucial for our final position in the league this season. Winning these 2 huge games has seen us take an amazing 7 point lead at the top of the Premier League. Rounding off the month was a 7-1 mauling of West Brom. We were 5-0 up by half time and i was getting excited about the prospect of finally ending a record in the Premier League which has haunted all Town fans for years. Unfortunetely though the record would stay in place as we took our foot off the gas. Massive win nevertheless and im chuffed!!

LOOK AT THIS. Top of the league half way through the season by 7 points. MASSIVE!! If we can win the league this season that would be incredible. Especially as we only won promotion 3 season ago.

Woodrow has just been a beast. Hes height and physical attributes must be a key factor to his game. He is our penalty taker now also instead of Bonazzoli as Woodrow's penalty attribute was marginally higher. Jack Grealish is still just simply amazing. Approaching him on a pre contract in January could surely be my biggest move in the window! Especially as this is his 4th season on loan at the club. Never known anything like it!

The 1st Knockout Round of the Champions League will see us face off with Dutch side Feyenoord. To be honest, i really fancy us to blow them away over the 2 legs.

January & February Fixtures

View attachment 305808

If we can stay top until the end of February with a 7 point lead, surely we would be seen as favourites. Man City in 4 games times, and then games against Everton & Arsenal make up our difficult fixtures over the next two months. If we can remain unbeaten. Id fancy us to win the league this season 100%. Exciting times.
It would ultimately mean our first season playing in the new Bobby Robson stadium as league winners!

Wow... What an achievement to be doing so well so quickly in the PL. Looks like a title challenge is in the cards this season!

Cheers dude. Im proper shocked though to be honest. When i started this save i never imagined i would be doing this well so quickly.

The climb you have achieved with our beloved town is amazing,
to win the league this season would be unreal, i do think that this season is already a success as you have made it through the group stage of the champs league. Obviously now top 3 is a must with the form you have shown so fair, i would say hopefully your transfer budget is increased in jan, but id rather see more coming from the conveyor belt, which is great to see you trying to improve.
You have defo got a great chance to get through to the next round of champs league, good luck and hope for another easy round ;-)
