Gary Leaves...
In the past five years coach Gary has done with few have ever done. Five straight years, five straight Manager of the Year, to go along with his team five straight promotions. Going into his sixth year looked to be at a crossroads. Stay at Wroughton going into what seems to be a tough challenge of not being predicted of finishing first, or go to Millwall who has some money and can leap frog some more leagues to ever so closer to ELP.
"In the end it comes down to money. I am not talking about my salary since I don't really care about that. I know that in the end if I do my part the club I am with will take care of me. What I am talking about is that this team doesn't get in the red so we have to keep selling off the club to new owners or sell of players to keep the financial afloat. Millwall has that and Wroughton doesn't. Sure they have been around a lot longer and are professional and Wroughton isn't even a professional club yet. Still at the end of the day my heart is with Wroughton and these players despite of the turnover we have the past couple of years. While the offer was good the only place I am leaving is go to on vacation before the next season starts up." coach Gary said to stun the news room and his players.
Reporters would fire away with questions and coach Gary wasn't shy about any of them as he answered them all. Here is some of the questions and answers he gave.
REPORTER: "How much more did you ask of Millwall, what was the final offer, and why did you think you could ask for more."
GARY: "I asked for $2,500 just to show that I really didn't want to leave Wroughton from the success we had. They came back with a $2,000 offer which was surprising that they wanted me. Which got me thinking if I should leave. In the end I felt that I wasn't done with Wroughton and if a team wants me they will have to pay a little more to get me."
REPORTER: "So there is a team in mind that you wouldn't mind stepping down at Wroughton?"
GARY: "Yes. Actually there are four teams I would leave for. I am not going to tell you them just in case they come asking, but if any of these four teams come with a offer it wouldn't be a tough decision."
REPORTER: "Has Wroughton starting working on the training grounds or facilities yet?"
GARY: "No they haven't and they said it might still be a couple of more years before they can since we are still strapped for cash."
REPORTER: "Since taking over the club you have rising the price for this club as well as the money. Do you think you are close to where you want it where they can start building something? Not 100 percent but to at least get it started?"
GARY: "My goal was that when I made it to this division we are in now that I would of liked the finances to be over 1 million. Sadly we are short. Still its not that bad of a feat. If the owner decides to sell the team I do hope the next one does inject some money into the team. I rather it go to the team than to me."
REPORTER: "You have been quoted when taking this job that you would take them from nothing to the worlds richest clubs. If you leave do you feel the team can achieve that?"
GARY: "If I get them off on the right foot and the next manager continues to improve the squad I see why not? I am not the type of person who is going to go out and spend all my transfer budget on one player. For one we don't have that big of a budget. Two to say if I was in the ELP and we had a transfer fee of 40 million I still wouldn't put it in one player. Or at least not in the first year or so. Rather spend that for quality players than just one. Spending all your transfer money is a good way to get your club in financial trouble. I know I have done that with this team for all the players I bring in every year which about half of them get pay raises if we get promoted. I know we have a high turnover for this team and it does hurt chemistry as well. I know what is going on, but at the end of the year when you still make $200,000 in profit is great. As long as we continue to make money on a yearly basis we shall be fine. I know its not an easy task to become the richest club especially when you only have like 40 season ticket holders and play in leagues that don't have a great revenue. I feel that will change when we become professional."
REPORTER: "Talking about professional squad why not go to Millwall who is while your team is still semi-professional?"
GARY: "Good question. I remember when we went to ameteur to semi-professional. It was a great experience and the feeling was out of this world. I think it will be bigger when we hit professional status. Plus some managers have came in and took Division 10 teams to the ELP and would like to do that. Again I will say if the right team comes asking it is going to be very hard to stay here."

i am following this, nice story
Thanks I am glad you like it. I am going to change some of the stuff though, or well add more stuff in when my team becomes a professional team.
I've really enjoyed reading your story, although I'm only halfway done. Also, I love your sig! Deuce is my favorite player
Thanks. Look is that another MLS fan? Still I live in Ohio I am a huge Columbus Crew fan, but looks like an exciting year to see who takes the S.S. this year. Galaxy or Crew. Yes I love my sig as well. I can't take credit since it is all Man v.1 who did it, and will say it is amazing. I was going to ask him to have one with Demsey, Bradley, Alitdore, Donavon, and Timmy all on one but since I love this sig I don't think I will ask.
dont go i thought you were going to make your team the richest club???
Actually I was very tempted to leave. I actually saved a different file of me taking the job. While I did get promotion the last five years I think its going to get very tough here faster and I was getting fed up of not having any money to build anything my club. Just know its going to take forever for me to be the richest club and do miss buying decent people, or well would be godly players if they were on this team. I am staying, but like the press conference if four teams do ask I will jump ship.
