Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke of his delight after watching a second string side knock Man United out of the EFL cup.

Liverpool made 8 changes to the side that drew away at Arsenal on Saturday with youngster Ben Woodburn handed a start. Also coming into the team were Mignolet, Klavan, Matip, Wilems, Grujic, Hughes and Mane with Ginter, Henderson and Firmino being the only survivors from the Red's 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

"Well what can I say, that will certainly shut Mourinho up." said Klopp after the 1-0 win.

"When I heard his comments, I was disappointed about how unprofessional he was being and I used his words to motivate the lads in this match. We were the better team all over the pitch and should have won by more than one goal in my opinion. It's fair to say that the only team going away humiliated is Manchester United."

Klopp also had some advice for Jose Mourinho after Paul Pogba was sent off for a second time this season against Liverpool.

"If I were Jose, I would worry less about what the opposition team is doing and focus on the discipline of my players. That was the second time Paul Pogba has been sent off against us this season and it's a lot hard to win games with only ten men on the pitch."

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has spoken of his delight after scoring a hat trick in Liverpool's 5-1 win over Southampton at Anfield.

The former Southamton man put his former employers to the sword, scoring a hat trick, as Liverpool romped to a 5-1 win over the Saints at Anfield, Wijnaldum and Firmino scoring the other two Liverpool goals. Lallana spoke to Sky Sports after picking up the man of the match award for his performance against his former club.

"I'm absolutely over the man," said the England international.

"The Southampton fans have made no attempt to hide their hatred of me after my move to Liverpool so I'm buzzing to score a hat trick against their team. Some of the abuse I've received since moving here has been awful and has come as quite a shock as I got on with everyone down there. What's in the past is in the past though and right now I'm enjoying my football."

"The fans here at Liverpool are something else. I still get goosebumps every time I hear them sing You'll Never Walk Alone. There's no doubt that Anfield has the best atmosphere that I've ever experienced on a football pitch and I'm really lucky that I get to play for such an illustrious club under a manager of the calibre of Jurgen Klopp."

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the Reds have accepted a bid from Bayern Munich for centre back Mamadou Sakho.

"Mamadou is free to leave the club in the transfer window, and we have accepted a bid from Bayern Munich," Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.

"Mamadou is a great player but the fact is that we have better defenders at the club at the moment. He is behind 4 players in the queue for a centre back position so it wouldn't be fair on him to keep him here against his will. We want players here who want to play for the team and are happy waiting for their opportunity."

"At the moment the team has been playing extremely well, putting in excellent performances and it would be unjustified to just bring a player in who's been out with an injury."

Brilliant layout, and enjoying the highlights too! Hate to say it as a United fan, but really enjoying this.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was delighted after helping his side to a 4--1 win away at Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool took the lead at Stamford Bridge through Brazilian Roberto Firmino before Diego Costa equalised for the home side midway through the first half. Jordan Henderson put Liverpool back in front just before half time and Roberto Firmino increased the lead straight after the break. It was Sadio Mane who rounded off a resounding Liverpool victory with a 4th in the 72nd minute.

"I'm delighted with the result, it was almost the complete performance," Henderson told Sky Sports.

"To a man we were better than them and it was a little irritating to see them score a goal against us. However, the way we responded to the equaliser was magnificent and to win by that margin sends a real message out to the other teams in this league that we are in this title race and intend to win it. There's no reason why we can't."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mamadou Sakho has completed a £19.5m move to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

The French international defender has been deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield and will leave the club when the transfer window reopens on the 1st of January.

Liverpool Football club would like to make this statement following the news:

"Liverpool Football Club can confirm the exit of Mamadou Sakho, following the acceptance of a £19.5million bid from Bayern Munich. Everyone at the club would like to wish Mamadou all the best in the future and thank him for the services he provided the club with during his three years at Anfield."

During his career at Anfield, the 26-year-old defender made 56 appearances in all competitions and provided his team with 2 goals.

Following his departure from Liverpool, Mamadou Sakho revealed his delight at the new challenge that lies ahead on the Bundesliga.

"It is a great new challenge for me," said Sakho.

"Obviously to leave Liverpool was a big step for me, they have been like a family to me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, but I am looking forward to playing for Bayern Munich and hope that I can be a big success for them. I can't wait to be playing regular first team football again."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his side were 'lucky' to come away with all three points from their 1-0 away win over Watford.

The match saw Watford on the offensive more than their inform opponents but Liverpool were able to take the chance when it was presented to them, Georginio Wignaldum finding the back of the net. The match saw Watford hit the post and the bar, and if the home side were more clinical with their finishing then a different result would have been on the cards for sure.

"I have to be honest, we were lucky to win that," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"We looked solid at the back for the majority of the match but there were periods that Watford should definitely have scored and will be disappointed to have not to. We had to dig deep out there today and we certainly showed that we are capable of grinding out results when we need to."

"Georginio took his goal really well and it was what we needed at the time. I feel like if we didn't score that chance then we probably wouldn't have scored at all because Watford were keeping us out very well."

watfordpoint.png

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri believes that his side deserved 'at least a point' as they lost 1-0 to inform Liverpool at Vicarage Road.

Walter Mazzarri's Watford side suffered their third defeat in a row as Georginio Wignaldum found the net to give Liverpool all three points at Vicarage Road. This comes after defeats away at Arsenal and at home to Manchester United. However, Watford did have chances to win, hitting both the post and the bar.

"I think we should have won that game personally, we atleast deserved a point" Mazzarri said after the game.

"We hit the woodwork twice and if those two shots go in, it's a completely different game. We always knew Liverpool had a goal in them. They are not the highest scorers in the league for no reason but it still felt like a bit of a sucker punch when the goal went in."

Watford will now look to bounce back in their next game, which is another home game, this time against Chelsea.

Italian keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been ruled out for up to 3 weeks with a calf strain picked up in training at Melwood.

The 17 year old was understandably disappointed after picking up the injury whilst catching a high ball during a routine training exercise.

"It's really disappointing to get injured at this stage of the season," he said.

"I've really hit the ground running since joining Liverpool so to miss games through injury is really disappointing. However, there's not a lot I can do about it and I need to focus on just regaining my fitness and my place in the first team."

"It's of course a blow for us, especially with the fixtures that we have coming up," said Reds boss Jurgan Klopp, who's side face a home game against bitter rivals Everton towards the end of the month.

"Gianluigi has been our first choice goalkeeper so far this season and has really adapted to the Premier League quicker than I thought he was going to. Fortunately, we are lucky to have three world class keepers here at the club so we shouldn't have too many problems."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was pleased after seeing his side beat Burnley by 5 goals to 0 at Anfield.

A brace each for Brazilian Roberto Firmino and the returning James Milner, added to a Daniel Sturridge strike to send Burnley back to Turf Moor with the tail between their legs. The home side dominated from start to finish, having 19 shots compared to just two mustered by Burnley.

"It was a wonderful performance," said Klopp after the win.

"I am really pleased with the way we played today. Burnley came here and wanted to defend and we didn't allow them to do that. We chased everything and put them under pressure and this is why we were able to win so easily. Once we got the first goal, Burnley had to attack and this made it a lot easier for us."

Klopp also praised vice captain James Milner, who scored two on his return to first team action following a long injury layoff.

"James was absolutely brilliant," Klopp added.

"To come in to the first team and play the way he did after being out of action for so long is a testament to just how professional James is. He's probably one of our most underrated players, he's always there doing his job with no moaning or no fuss. He's a great team man and is someone I love having around the team."

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that the better team won, after watching his side lose 1-0 to Liverpool at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool looked the stronger team throughout the game and took the lead in the 68th minute through a goal from former Southampton man Sadio Mane. The scoreline could have been a lot greater if not for a string of great saves by keeper Steve Mandanda in the Palace goal.

"It was disappointing to lose yesterday," admitted Allardyce.

"However, I have to concede that Liverpool were simply the better team on the pitch and deserved to win. They were fantastic all over the pitch, the work rate, desire and determination showed and they deserved the win. There is no doubt about that. I felt that we lacked energy in some area's and they capitalised on that, but I put the error's down to mistakes in my management.

"I felt Bakary (Sako) didn't have enough support down the our left flank and they exploited that with a lot of their chances coming from that side. There are little things that needed to be changed and it's my fault as I should have recognised that during the game. We must move on from this game now and make sure that we bounce back when we travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday."
