Well, the decision stands so we can't reallysay much more about it, can we?
But, even as a United fan, with almost absolute devotion to Rooney, I think he was lucky. I was worried that he would be banned, because it seemed to have no reason, no purpose in doing it. Why he did it, only he knows. It should've been a sending off.
The fact that Clatternburg (Who is a total ****) said that he saw it and only gave a freekick is a disgrace. Clatternburg is a utter disgrace. I do know how to referee football (I did an amatuer FA coruse on coaching and refereeing, not PL standard I know, but it's something) and Clatternburg has been, time and again, horrific. He is probably one of the worst refs out there in the PL. Refs are human, and it's very easy to get things wrong, especially since you have very little time to think and there's no TV replays, unlike rugby, the crowd are screaming things and you have players right in your face. I know, I've experienced it before, and I have sympathy for all refs when people screw them over for getting calls wrong, but only when it's very close or difficult to tell, even with TV replays. For Clatternburg to say that he saw it and only gave a freekick is absolutely disgraceful. Then again, I'm more inclined to think that he only saw the crowd's reaction and only gave a freekick based on that.
