Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

For which team? My recommendations for different kind of teams are at the front page :)
I've been using rock classic for all different teams which usually works well, on my latest game I was Southampton, finished 6 first season, In second season I got sack after been 12th after 30 games (used rock classic both seasons so not sure why the change in form)

Well, the problem isn't tactic related. I'm guessing you bought a lot of new players?

Hi, mr L

I'm using the sicilian defence with great results with KV Oostende in Belgium in my 2038-save :-) However to check if the team is gelled well already, you told here before to look under team>*** manager>report. However I can't seem to find this. Any chance on posting a screenshot with a big circle around it? Thanks in advance. To whoever is struggling: buying a lot of players is most of the time the cause. It took me 5 months before my 5 new signings were used to the team.

Go to staff, find *** manager, reports, team talk report, below team morale you can read it

Just finished a season using the 2-5-3 mostly with Rostock (2017-2018) and down did the treble. 96 Goals 16 conceded in the league. Defeating Man Utd 2-0 in the CL Final. I did develop a bunch of really good regens though.

Doing a quick 12 premier league game test with the 253 v2, do you mind uploading a screenshot of your match prep? or atleast tell me what general training + workload, match focus, scheduling and whether or not you rest before and/or after the match please?

Jimmy it's on the OP 8-|

Mr. L, is ticking both rest after and before match the same for the new recommended training? More specifically 253angels?

Any tips for queens gambit?

Follow the front page and have strong central midfielders.

I finally got appointed to a big club (Feyernoord) the day after I discovered this fantastic thread. I spent along time reading through all the pages an got the impression that most people go with the Rock Classic, though the 2-5-3 is Mr Langs personal favourite.

My issue was I had no first team ready ML or MR at feyernoord (bonkers I know! Had a few average AML & AMR but they were not ML/MR trained and honestly not that good anyway).

Luckily I noticed a tactic called Queens Gambit on the download list (though if im honest Mr Lang I couldnt find much information regarding it or any screen shots). I gave it a go as my 3 strongest players were central Midfielders (Jody Clasie, South African Int Jali especially).

As expected it takes time to get the tactic fluid etc...I took over mid-season in 11th place in the Dutch league! Around 6 games later I started seeing results. Ill be honest I rarely win the possession battle, but then again Im not really expecting to because of the direct nature of the tactic. We certainly make more chances than the other side. Ill admit to changing to Silician defence and 2-5-3 against certain sides but 9 times out of 10 Queens Gambit did the job for me.

Id suggest a striker with good heading ability although to be fair even my strikers I was stuck with at first who had heading attributes of 12/20 heading managed to score a shed full of headed goals.

My Plan was always to finish the season with what I was stuck with squad wise using the Queens Gambit and then re-shuffle in pre-season to something like Rock Classic or 2-5-3 if I could obtain the quality of player Id require. BUT....despite taking Feyernoord from 11th when I took over to a brilliant 3rd place finish, QF of Europa League & a win in the Dutch cup (Mostly using Queens Gambit) I was given only 2.75million to spend on new players and this was despite reducing the wage bill under what the board wanted. Fair enough I can take money from the transfer budget to give me more wages to look down the free transfer avenue but unless I can sign some quality ML & MR players i'm seriously giving the thought of sticking with the Queens Gambit consideration....I mean it served me well really......went from 11th to 3rd only losing twice (early on while the team was learning the tactic).

Anyone else had success with Queens Gambit as ive not seen it mentioned much through the thread but appears to get good results.

Well done Mr Lang

I have never changed those settings, they have just been default to rest before and after. But I guess if you have a really big squad, there is room for unticking them. With a small squad, allow the rest at least.

Thank you! How about individual training for the keepers? Train them as goalkeepers? or leave them not set?

train them as a Sweeper GK.
if ur GK is ***** with 'one on one' attribute train him as a just GK, not sweeper GK, becaus SGK missing this attribute in training ;).

Just one more question.. so sorry to keep bugging you.. Do you keep the individual training as it is when you change the team training for the pre-season??

I just keep it the same all the time, but I've read in the training page I linked at the front page that it's not recommended to have individual training in pre-season. But I'm lazy, so I just keep it :P

Well tested 3-6-1 and 4-1-4-1. First one great at defence but my forward score absolutely zero goals (0 in 12 matches lol, winger scored 10). Second one better with goalscoring, but defence can concede 2-3 goals in 10 min. I play with crewe in premier league (4th season with crewe), so i can sign any good players bcos low reputation. Almost all my team 18-20 years old, so good technical and physical stats, but low mental. Any ideas what i should do to improve my results ?

Can you show me a screenshot of your tactics screen and your assistant manager's team report? (about the current team gel level)
