Any tips for queens gambit?
Follow the front page and have strong central midfielders.
I finally got appointed to a big club (Feyernoord) the day after I discovered this fantastic thread. I spent along time reading through all the pages an got the impression that most people go with the Rock Classic, though the 2-5-3 is Mr Langs personal favourite.
My issue was I had no first team ready ML or MR at feyernoord (bonkers I know! Had a few average AML & AMR but they were not ML/MR trained and honestly not that good anyway).
Luckily I noticed a tactic called Queens Gambit on the download list (though if im honest Mr Lang I couldnt find much information regarding it or any screen shots). I gave it a go as my 3 strongest players were central Midfielders (Jody Clasie, South African Int Jali especially).
As expected it takes time to get the tactic fluid etc...I took over mid-season in 11th place in the Dutch league! Around 6 games later I started seeing results. Ill be honest I rarely win the possession battle, but then again Im not really expecting to because of the direct nature of the tactic. We certainly make more chances than the other side. Ill admit to changing to Silician defence and 2-5-3 against certain sides but 9 times out of 10 Queens Gambit did the job for me.
Id suggest a striker with good heading ability although to be fair even my strikers I was stuck with at first who had heading attributes of 12/20 heading managed to score a shed full of headed goals.
My Plan was always to finish the season with what I was stuck with squad wise using the Queens Gambit and then re-shuffle in pre-season to something like Rock Classic or 2-5-3 if I could obtain the quality of player Id require. BUT....despite taking Feyernoord from 11th when I took over to a brilliant 3rd place finish, QF of Europa League & a win in the Dutch cup (Mostly using Queens Gambit) I was given only 2.75million to spend on new players and this was despite reducing the wage bill under what the board wanted. Fair enough I can take money from the transfer budget to give me more wages to look down the free transfer avenue but unless I can sign some quality ML & MR players i'm seriously giving the thought of sticking with the Queens Gambit consideration....I mean it served me well really......went from 11th to 3rd only losing twice (early on while the team was learning the tactic).
Anyone else had success with Queens Gambit as ive not seen it mentioned much through the thread but appears to get good results.
Well done Mr Lang
