Arsenal 3-0 Aston Villa

Villa didn't know what hit them today as they went down to a very good Arsenal display, it has to be said that the Villa players looked jaded and in need of a rest. This is the second time Villa have been knocked out of a competition by Arsenal as they were also beaten in the Carling Cup Quarter Final. David Beckham commented that he was disappointed with the final outcome but there was still a lot to play for and would be pushing his players all the way to the end.

Aston Villa cruise into the Europa League Quarter Finals!

Aston Villa 5-1 Zenit (agg)

Villa fans wanted something to take their minds of the FA Cup defeat to Arsenal and what better way to do it than to book their place in the Europa League Quarter Finals by beating 2008 champions 5- 1 (agg). Villa fans sang the praises of their striker Carlton Cole who ran rings around the Zenit defence. Villa will now face Italian side Fiorentina, can Villa go another round....find out here later tonight!

March 2011 review!

View attachment 96862View attachment 96863View attachment 96864

With 2011 being a great year for Villa already we were all hoping for this form to carry on, but with some tough games ahead and a small squad could David Beckham's men keep up this form.

View attachment 96865View attachment 96866View attachment 96868View attachment 96869View attachment 96868View attachment 96870

Man United 3-0 Aston Villa. GOALS - Michael Carrick, Domenico Criscito, Richard Dunne own goal.

Arsenal 3-0 Aston Villa. GOALS - Robin Van Persie, Marouane Chamakh, Adil Rami.

Zenit 1-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Alessandro Rosina, Nicolas Lombaerts own goal.

Middlesbrough 0-3 Aston Villa. GOALS - Carlton Cole, Frank Nouble, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa 4-0 Zenit. GOALS - Carlton Cole(2), Ivica Krizanac own goal, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa 1-1 Wigan. GOALS - Nathan Delfouneso, Rusian Rotan.

This was not a month that the Villa fans will really want to remember apart from the good display against Zenit that saw them into the Quarter Final stage of the Europa League and one good win over Middlesbrough in the league. Knocked out of the FA Cup as reported by Arsenal, a poor display against United and Wigan in the league in which they only managed to pick up one point. Villa still hold onto 4th spot, but the gap is being closed and with the majority of games being played at home from now until the end of the season Villa fans are hopeful of a good end of season run in. But performances really need to improve to achieve this and boss David Beckham will have his player suitably prepared...come on you VILLA!

Aston Villa 1-5 Fiorentina (agg)

Its all over for Aston Villa, well in Europe it is along with their only hope of silverware for this season. In a competition which no one really expected them to make any impact in many are saying that Villa had a good tournament, but when a team gets to a Quarter Final in any competition there is always so type of expectation to go all the way. Villa will be disappointed in the way in which they performed over both legs and overall it is fair to say they were poor. David Beckham will need to keep the players spirits up to ensure they keep their high league position....stay here to find out!

April 2011 review!

View attachment 97078View attachment 97079

With the games coming thick and fast for Villa, this month was no different not only that these matches could make or break Villa's season as they looked to progress through the Europa League and push on in the league.

View attachment 97080View attachment 97081View attachment 97082View attachment 97081View attachment 97083View attachment 97084

Aston Villa 1-1 Arsenal. GOALS - Carlton Cole, Abou Diaby.

Aston Villa 0-2 Fiorentina. GOALS - Riccardo Montolivio, Gaetano D'Agostino (pen 49).

Aston Villa 1-1 West Ham. GOALS - Miles Addison, Daniel Gabbidon.

Fiorentina 3-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Alberto Gilardino, Humberto Suazo, Nene, Richard Dunne.

Stoke 1-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Tuncay Sanil, Carlton Cole.

Aston Villa 1-1 Bolton. GOALS - Stewart Downing, Andy O'Brien.

NO NO NO....this is that the set of results Villa were looking for this month. As previously reported Aston Villa were dumped out of the Europa League by a much better side on the day and they had to focus on keeping that all important 4th spot. Yes Villa were never expected to do this well in the league but now they are there they will want to stay there. But with 4 games in the league played this month and drawing all 4 Villa still have it all to do, Beckham's small squad is starting to look short of fitness and lack that cutting edge they had only a few months ago. With 5 points between 4th place Aston Villa and 5th place Aston Villa and only 3 games to go its in Villa's hands, but with the last 3 games against Liverpool, West Brom and Man City will this be too much to ask from Beckham's men.

May 2011 review!

View attachment 97171

With only 3 games left in the season for Aston Villa, the end was near and Villa knew they still had a lot of work to do if they are to hold on to the all important 4th spot to enter into the Champions League next season. But it wasn't going to be easy as they had to play a strong Liverpool side, local rivals West Brom and the team still fighting for the title Man City!

View attachment 97172View attachment 97173View attachment 97174

Aston Villa 0-0 Liverpool. GOALS - n/a.

West Brom 1-3 Aston Villa. GOALS - Simon ***, Gabby Agbonlahor(2), Carlton Cole.

Aston Villa 4-0 Man City. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor(2), Carlton Cole, Scott Parker.

Well what an end to the season for Aston Villa, picking up 7 points in the last 3 games against some hard opposition and ensuring that all important 4th spot leaving Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to play in the Europa League. However Chelsea can still spoil the party at Villa, as they are in the Champions League Final and if they win this they take Aston Villa's place in the competition. On a positive note Villa fans will be delighted with the the fabulous 4-0 win over 2nd place Man City who on the last day still had a chance to win the league but with Villa's emphatic win it mean that Tottenham Hotspur picked up their second consecutive title. The season has now finished for Villa but they still have one game to focus on, the Champions League Final where they will be wanting the mighty Real Madrid to win on the day to ensure Chelsea do not take their Champions League spot away. Stay tuned for more reports!

Fiorentina 1-0 Arsenal

What a fine game we saw at Lansdowne Road this evening, with Fiorentina picking up the prize at the end of the game. In what was a closely fought match and Arsenal having a number of chances but failing to put any away, saw them loose and Fiorentina take advantage of this with a suburb counter attack. Another year goes by for Arsenal without any silverware, how long can this go on for. This was a big night for the Fiorentina fans after some bad times a few years ago, they have come back as a real force in Europe!

Chelsea 0-1 Real Madrid

The first ever Champions League Final to be played at the new Wembley and we had a London club competing for the trophy against the team who holds the biggest history in this competition. Chelsea and Real Madrid took the field for what was going to be a memorable night, Chelsea new that they would be the first team in the history of the Champions League if they were to win to actually win in 2 years in a row and that it would ensure them a place in next years competition as they finished 5th in the league this year. But this wasn't enough as they went down to a 17th minute penalty from Kaka given away by captain John Terry, it was by no means a classic but Madrid got the goal they needed and are now crowned the new European Champions! This news will delight Villa boss David Beckham as this has ensured his side of Champions League football next season.
