Aston Villa handed tough Champions League Qualifier as they draw Spanish side Valencia

View attachment 97650

All of Aston Villa's hard work to qualify for the Champions League has come down to this two legged tie and what a tough team they have been drawn. If Villa are to make history and enter the group stage of the Champions League they will have to beat Valencia, who are no strangers to this competition. Will Beckham's men be up for the challenge!

UEFA Champions League Best Placed Playoff Leg 1 & 2

Aston Villa 3-3 Valencia. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor(2), Carlton Cole, Roberto Soldado, Manuel Fernandes, Sunny.

Valencia 0-4 Aston Villa. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Jack Rodwell, Miles Addison.

Aston Villa win 7-3 on agg

What a fabulous result over 2 legs, with Villa conceding 3 away goals some fans thought the tie was over and that they were heading back to the Europa League. But no Beckhma had his men fired up and saw them whip Valencia at home 4-0, no better way to introduce yourself into the Champions League. Now Villa wait for the group stage to be drawn and will be hoping for a kind draw, if that is possible with so many strong teams in the pot. Com back later to see full draw!

August 2011 review!

View attachment 97677View attachment 97678

Doesn't it come round fast, here we are at the start of another season and the 3rd season for Villa boss David Beckham. With Beckham rejecting the managers job at his boyhood club Man United, there was a feeling within the camp that Villa are on the verge of something special, they has built again during the summer and have a much stronger squad. Still very youthful but still a threat to the top team, but can Villa keep up last season form and get in that top 4 yet again. It all starts here!

View attachment 97679View attachment 97680View attachment 97681View attachment 97680View attachment 97683

Arsenal 2-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Robin Van Persie, Andrey Arshavin, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa 3-3 Valencia. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor(2), Carlton Cole, Roberto Soldado, Manuel Fernandes, Sunny.

Aston Villa 1-1 Newcastle. GOALS - Jack Wilshere, Cameron Jerome.

Valencia 0-4 Aston Villa. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Jack Rodwell, Miles Addison.

Aston Villa 2-1 Man City. GOALS - Ashley Young, Gabby Agbonlahor, Emmanuel Adebayor.

Well it wasn't an easy start to the season with the away fixture at Arsenal that the Villa boys nearly got a point from but it just wasn't to be, it was a clear improvement from last years game at the Emirates but just not today. The Newcastle game will be seen as 2 points dropped but we feel they had one eye of the Valencia game which was crucial for the club, and as reported Villa came out on top and can now look forward to a season competing against Europe's elite. To round it off Villa outclassed Title favourites Man City with a fine 2-1 win, what an exciting season ahead!

View attachment 97813View attachment 97814View attachment 97815

Villa have a tough set of fixttures for September but they will be hoping to carry their decent form from last month into this one. With important league fixtures, an away Carling Cup tie and their first ever Champions League group game to look forward to Villa fans will be licking their lips.

View attachment 97816View attachment 97817View attachment 97823View attachment 97824View attachment 97825View attachment 97826

Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa. GOALS - Steven Garrard.

Inter Milan 3-2 Aston Villa. GOALS - Sulley Muntari, Samuel Eto'o, Jack Wilshere, Ashley Young.

Aston Villa 2-0 Blackburn. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor, Jack Wilshere.

Chelsea 3-2 Aston Villa (aet). GOALS - Landon Donovan, Moussa Sow, Didier Drogba, Nathan Delfouneso, Frank Nouble.

Aston Villa
3-0 Leeds United. GOALS - Miles Addison, Ashley Young, Carlton Cole.

Aston Villa
1-1 Saint-Etienne. GOALS - Carlton Cole, Emmanuel Riviera.

We will look at these results and think what a poor showing, but if we look into the matches we can see that Villa had more possesion more chances but didnt take them. The youthness of the Villa squad showed their imaturity when they gave a 2-0 lead away at Inter Milan to go on and loose 3-2. A youthfull Villa side fought hard against a full strenght Chelsea side and showed some promise, the most dissapointing result for Villa was the European game against Saint-Etienne as it was vital to pick up all 3 points but again they paid the penalty for not taking their chances.

October 2011 review!

View attachment 98117View attachment 98118

After a fairly dissapointing September Aston Villa will be looking to change their fortunes, with a key fixture in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow most fans will be hoping to pick all 3 point up on the day in order to keep their Champions League dream alive.

View attachment 98119View attachment 98120View attachment 98121View attachment 98122View attachment 98123

Ipswich 1-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Tamas Priskin, Junior Stanislas.

Portsmouth 0-2 Aston Villa. GOALS - Carlton Cole, Fabian Delph.

Aston Villa 4-1 CSKA Moscow. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor(4), Vagner Love.

Aston Villa 3-1 West Brom. GOALS - Miles Addison, Gabby Agbonlahor, Junior Stanislas, Jonal Olsson.

Fulham 1-5 Aston Villa. GOALS - Bobby Zamora, Junior Stanislas(2), Gabby Agbonlahor, Fabian Delph, Carlton Cole.

It didnt start too good for Villa with a 1-1 draw at Ipswich, but from that point onwards Villa have never looked back with some fantastic results and the performances to match. The key fixture for Villa against CSKA worked a dream a they walked to victory with Gabby bagging all 4 goals on the day. Along with this 3 valuble victories in the league, and with the injuries to Ashley Young and Jack Wilshere we saw Junior Stanislas put in some top performances and scoring 3 vital goals. I think we have just seen Aston Villa's season begin!

David Beckham will be keen to carry on last months form into this one, with 5 games in total there was a lot to be getting on with. With key fixtures in the league against the likes of champions Tottenham and Man United and 2 key games in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow and Inter Milan Villa have a tough month ahead.

View attachment 98303View attachment 98304View attachment 98305View attachment 98306View attachment 98307

CSKA Moscow 0-2 Aston Villa. GOALS - Fabian Delph, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa 3-1 Sunderland. GOALS - Carlton Cole(2), Miles Addison, Darren Bent.

Tottenham 2-2 Aston Villa. GOALS - Jermain Defoe, Joe Hart own goal, Carlton Cole, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa 0-1 Inter Milan. GOALS - Diego Milito.

Aston Villa 2-0 Man United. GOALS - Fabian Delph, Gabby Agbonlahor.

There we have it another month has been and gone, overall for Villa this was a good set of results. The game against Inter Milan which they lost was very unfortunate, so many chances but no goals for Villa and this does leave Villa needing nothing but a win in their last game away against Saint Etienne and hoping for CSKA to draw or loose away at Inter. Villa boss Beckham will be dissapointed they let a 2-0 against Premier League champions Tottenham slip and just take a point, but will see the 2-0 victory over Man United a superb result and something they can take into next month's fixtures.

Martin O'Neill leaves Villa

Isn't it ironic, don't ya think?

(sorry I don't know if anyone else said that)

The story is a good one but (constructive critiscism) i find it hard to read because well it's so wide (presentation) but keep going

Saint-Etienne 4-4 Aston Villa

What an unbelieveable match over in France this evening, but the outcome was'nt what Villa fans were hoping for. Beckham's men got off to a flyer and were 2-0 up after 8 minutes with goals from Agbonlahor and Wilshere. But before Villa knew it they were 4-3 down then Smalling pulled it level on 86 minutes and they went for it but no luck as it ended all square meaning that the Champions League was over for Villa. Villa's young men are still learning at this level and some are saying it could be a blessing in disguise, as some are saying the Europa Leage is a winnable competition for Aston Villa. Only one place to find out!

Villa will be looking to carry on their decent form from November into this christmas period, with some tough away games in the league Villa boss willkknow that picking up some point on the road at this time of the season is vital. Not only this but they have has that vital European tie but as we know Villa didnt have enough in the tank to pick up the win and now find themselves in the draw for the Europa League knockout stage. Could Villa stay positive and carry on up the league..........

Saint Etienne 4-4 Aston Villa. GOALS - Jires Kembo-Ekoko(2), Gonzalo Bergessio, Bakary Sako, Gabby Agbonlahor, Jack Wilshere, Carlton Cole, Chris Smalling.

Aston Villa 3-1 Bolton. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor(2), Miles Addison, Johan Elmander, Matty Taylor missed penalty (5mins).

Wigan 2-4 Aston Villa. GOALS - Joe Hart own goal, Mauro Boselli, Carlton Cole(3), Miles Addison.

Stoke 1-4 Aston Villa. GOALS - Joe Hart own goal, Gabby Agbonlahor(2), Miles Addison, Carlton Cole.

Aston Villa 6-0 West Ham. GOALS - Miles Addison(2), Gabby Agbonlahor(2), Junior Stanislas, Nathan Delfouneso.

Aston Villa 3-1 Newcastle. GOALS - Miles Addison, Ashley Young, Gabby Agbonlahor, Dan Gosling.

What a month for the club 6 wins in 7 and the other a draw, unfortunalty that draw put Villa out of the Champions League and into the Europa League. Sticking to the positives though Villa have seen themselves climb up the table and are now in pole position, David Beckham seems to be working some magic at the club as no one was expecting this. Plaudits have to be put to Miles Addison who has been a rock at the back and also netted 6 goals in 7 games with some long range scorchers and towering headers. Can Villa keep this up or can one of the BIG teams come back to the top!
