Arsenal back on form as holders Aston Villa get knocked out of the Carling Cup

In what was a very close match between Arsenal and Aston Villa with nothing between the two apart from one player, Andrey Arshavin. He seems to love playing against David Beckham's men as since Beckham has been in charge Andrey has scored on every occasion and this time is knocked Villa out of the Cup. Some football pundits are saying that if were to progress then they would not of coped due to the small size of the squad as they have the League, Europe and the FA Cup to focus on, so is this a blessing in disguise.

Chelsea hit form has they climb up the Premier League table

Chelsea have been languishing around mid table from the off set this season, and things weren't looking too bright at Stamford Bridge. But something has changed at the club in the past few weeks as we have seen Chelsea go on a 9 game unbeaten run which takes them into the new year on a high, they find themselves in 5th place now and if this run goes on and results go there way maybe just maybe then can challenge for the title.

December 2010 review!

View attachment 95947View attachment 95948View attachment 95949

After a disappointing November Villa boss David Beckham wanted to push his lads onto changing their fortunes and put some more points on the board. With a big came against Arsenal in the Carling Cup Quarter Final that ended in defeat for Villa, they really needed to show the rest of the league that they meant business.

Marseille 2-3 Aston Villa. GOALS - Salomon Kalou(2), Jordan Spence, Ryan Bertand, Tom Cleverley.

Aston Villa 3-1 Stoke. GOALS - Jack Rodwell, Ashley Young, Gabby Agbonlahor, Mamady Sidibe.

Arsenal 1-0 Aston Villa. GOALS - Andrey Arshavin.

Bolton 2-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Kevin Davies, Johan Elmander, Carlton Cole.

Aston Villa 2-0 FC Groningen. GOALS - Nathan Delfouneso, Jordan Spence.

Aston Villa 1-1 West Brom. GOALS - Carlton Cole, Gerado Torrado.

Man City 2-0 Aston Villa. GOALS - Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor.

Fulham 0-10 Aston Villa. GOALS - Scott Parker, Jack Rodwell, Carlton Cole (pen 22), Ashley Young(5), Brede Hangeland own goal, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Another another month of ups and downs for Villa, were starting to find it difficult to know what Villa side we are going to see. With 2 wins in the first 2 games of this months things were looking bright for Beckham's men, then an unlucky defeat in the Carling Cup followed by a poor set of results in the next 3 games. But Villa fans were on their feet in the last game of the month with a fabulous 10-0 victory away at Fulham, Villa need to carry this result into the New Year.

January 2011 review!

After a mixed set of results in December Villa fans didn't know what to expect in January, but ending the year with a 10-0 victory away at Fulham kept the fans in good spirit. With key fixtures in the Premier League and in the opening rounds of the FA Cup there was a lot to play for.

Aston Villa 4-0 Derby. GOALS - Tom Cleverley, Jack Rodwell, Jordan Spence, Nathan Delfouneso.

Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa. GOALS - n/a.

Aston Villa 1-1 Portsmouth. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor, Kevin-Price Boateng.

Chelsea 0-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa 2-0 Newcastle. GOALS - Jack Wilshere, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa 1-0 Preston. GOALS - Carlton Cole.

Burnley 1-3 Aston Villa. GOALS - Charles Dissels, Ashley Young(2), Gabby Agbonlahor.

Blackburn 0-2 Aston Villa. GOALS - Gabby Agbonlahor, Nathan Delfouneso.

What a run of games for the club this months, 8 games without defeat and with some great results against very tough opponents. Villa fans will look back at this month and away results against Spurs, Chelsea, Burnley and Blackburn as key points that were picked up as they took 10 out of a possible 12 which on the road for a young side is no mean feat. But Villa will look back on the 2 points dropped against Pompy, with 32 shots on goal how did they not take all 3 points. Aston Villa boss David Beckham knows it will be key to carry on this form into the last few months of the season as he looks to prove the media wrong and claim that all important 4th place. Can Villa do it!

Beckham's half time rant helps Villa beat Man City to reach the FA Cup Quarter Finals

View attachment 96412

This is the sort of performance that Villa fans have been waiting for and now it looks like the other big teams will start taking Aston Villa as a serious threat. At half time Beckham's men were 1-0 down and didn't look like they had much to offer against a very strong City team, but the players were quick to praise there managers half time team talk and stating it was this that gave them the confidence to go out there and take the game to City. Can Villa go all the way, theres only one place you can find out!
