This was a big day for both the Man United and Arsenal fans, as both holding a lot of traditiion in this competition wanted to carry this on with a win in the final. With both managers having many a moment with each other over the years who was to come out on top today!

MAN UNITED 2-1 ARSENAL

There we have it, what a game for the neutral free flowing attacking football. Unfortunatly there had to be one winner and on the day United were the ones who took there chances, Arsenal manager Wenger has gone another season without a trophy and there are rumors that the board have had enough and feel it may be time for a change. United have been missing this FA Cup trophy in their cabinet for a few years and will be delighted with this win.

Here we are in Hamburg for the Europa League Final and whoever wins this evening will have their name of the trophy for the first time. Could Big spending Man City justify all the money they have spent and buy the trophy or will the tough outfit of Sampdoria be victorious.

Sampdoria 0-1 Man City

This match was a tense encounter as no one wanted to make a mistake, and as it went into extra time at 0-0 there was a breakthrough. You have to feel sorry for the guy but Italian striker Cassano put it in his own net to give city the lead, and from that point City never looked back and put 11 men behind the ball to play the Italians at their own game and walked away with the trophy. So money can buy you trophies!

Here we are, the biggest day in European Club football has come to Madrid with a game involving Italian giants AC Milan and what seems to be a poor Chelsea team. If Chelsea can come out on top this evening then they will be playing in the competition next season as currently they are not as they only finished 7th in the league, but AC Milan will be looking to spoil the party.

AC Milan 0-2 Chelsea

Against the form of Chelase this season, Chelsea have walked away with their first ever Champions League trophy with a solid preformance against AC Milan. It was by no means a classic but the Chelsea fans wont care as they see their team lift the trophy, what this also means is that Arsenal will not take place in next years competition as Chelsea have now taken their place and will now have to play in the Europa League.

Aston Villa 2009/2010 season review

View attachment 93486

The season is now over and Villa boss has taken some time out to at a press conferance and give us his thoughts on Aston Villa's season.

View attachment 93487

Q1 - So David after a long first season in management, how do you feel your Villa side have done?

A1 - "Firstly I want to thank all my players and staff who have put 100% into everything we have tried to achieve this season, and overall yes I am very happy with how things have gone. We had a lot of changes over the summer and I think with this we have come together very quickly, and are looking very strong for more seasons to come."

Q2 - We all assume the Carling Cup victory was the highlight of your season, how did it feel to win this trophy as a manager?

A2 - "Of course winning any trophy is a fantastic occasion for the whole club, not just me. We were on form that day and deserved the victory I was a very proud man. Now we have tasted victory me and my boys want more, were hungrier than ever."

Q3 - What does the summer of 2010 hold for Aston Villa, transfers, tours etc?

A3 - "Well I can assure the fans that we have a lot on this summer and are looking to bring in some players, obvioulsy we will only be looking for British/Irish players and we know what boys we want to bring in but that is all I can reveal for now. In regards to a tour, yes there will be on either in South America, North America or Asia but no firm date yet. "

Q4 - Finally, what are your thoughts on the Premiership season as a whole with Tottenham winning the title and the like of Chelsea finishing 7th but then going on to win the Champions League?

A4 - "Well we all know football is a funny old game, and if we look at the league currently I believe that the top 8 teams in the league can all push for silverware but it does come down to a bit of luck, staying injury free and picking up more points than their rivals. Chelsea to me seemed to have more desire and more focus on winning the Champions League, at the end of the day each club has its own targets. Again before I go I just want to thank our supporters for the great atmosphere we see at our matches, keep it up and we hope for a great season ahead."

Aston Villa have today announced a pre season tour of the USA which will include 4 games in the space of 8 days, with state of the art facilities and less press hype over there Villa are hoping this tour will be ideal preperation for the squad. When they do arrive back in the UK, they have 4 more fixtures in the UK and a single game trip out to Belgium.

This was not the only announcement today as it was confirmed that Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Everton for young England starlet Jack Rodwell for 15M, Villa fans are reportedly delighted with this signing and hope there is more to follow.

There are also rumors flying around that Beckham is looking to release some more funds for new players by selling on some of Villa's current squad, Emile Heskey, Luke Young, Jermain Jenas and James Collins. More news on this in later reports!

Heartbreak as England loose out in World Cup Final Penalty Shootout!

View attachment 93697

Yes here we are again as England loose to Portugal on penalties in the World Cup Final, England were not expected to get this far and the country can be proud of their performance but once you have reached the final you want to win of course. Aston Villa manager David Beckham carried on his fued with England coach Fabio Capello saying that if they took some more fire power up front then they would of finished on top and won the World Cup, Beckham clearly pointing towards Capellos decison to leave Villa duo Carlton Cole and Gabby Agbonlahor out of the squad.

Reports coming out from the Villa fans is that they are very impressed with the sigings the boss has made and as promised has sticked to only young British/Irish talent. Yes they know this team will not fight for the title this year but the future here at Villa Park is very bright indeed.

USA Tour Results

New Orleans 1-3 Aston Villa. GOALS - Adrian Hernandez, Nathan Delfouneso, Curtis Davies, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Philadelphia 0-2 Aston Villa. GOALS - Carlton Cole, Nathan Delfouneso.

Crew Academy 0-6 Aston Villa. GOALS - Stewart Downing, Nathan Delfouneso(2), Nathan Baker, Tom Cleverley, Mitchell Lewis o.g.

Miami FC 1-0 Aston Villa. GOALS - Nelson Pizarro.

Overall this was a good tour for the squad, they seemed to be having a great time out there. Lokking at the performances they were all of high standard with young Villa man Delfouneso taking most of the plaudits. The only negaitive was the 1-0 defeat to Miami FC, but Beckhma will take a lot from this tour and look to carry on the improvements in the next 4 matches left in pre season.

Final Pre Season results

Aston Villa head to Slovakia as Beckham's men start their journey in Europe

After a disappointing European campaign last season Beckham will be looking for more from his team. It has to be said that they were dealt a very tough group and will be hoping for an easier one this time round, thats if they get through the qualifying round. The long journey to the final in Ireland starts here, see full match report from both legs below!

UEFA Europa League 3rd Qual Rnd Leg 1 & 2

First Leg - Trnava 0-2 Aston Villa. GOALS - Ashley Young(2).

Second Leg - Aston Villa 5-0 Trnava. GOALS - Ashley Young(3), Carlton Cole, Gabby Agbonlahor.

It all starts again!

Here we are again the start of another new season, with Villa boss David Beckham having a huge impact on the club in his first season with an overhaul on all players and staff and also bringing the Carling Cup to Villa Park. There was a good feeling around the club, with a good mix of players at the club some believe that this team will just keep getting better and better. With 5 games in August for the Villa fans to get stuck into what will this month hold, including the final qualifying round for the Europa League in which Villa will face Portuguese side Academica. Please see full match reports below.

View attachment 94110View attachment 94111View attachment 94112View attachment 94111View attachment 94113

Aston Villa 5-0 Fulham. GOALS - Miles Addison(3), Carlton Cole, Gabby Agbonlahor.

Academica 1-5 Aston Villa. GOALS - Sougou, Carlton Cole(3), Miles Addison, Jack Rodwell.

Aston Villa 0-3 Tottenham. GOALS - Jermain Defoe(2), Aaron Lennon.

Aston Villa 2-0 Academica. GOALS - Markus Berger o.g, Miles Adisson.

Portsmouth 0-1 Aston Villa. GOALS - Jack Wilshere.

Like the opening day of last season Aston Villa got off to a flyer as they put 5 past Fulham, the highlight of this game in particular was seeing young center back Mile Addison score a hat-rick a penalty won by Agbonlahor towards the end of the game saw Addison complete his route. This month also saw Villa qualify for the group stage of the Europa League with a 7-1 agg win over Academica, the one downside to this month was the 3-0 thrashing from Tottenham Hotspur and in the post match interview Villa boss David Beckham was disappointed with his side inability to convert chances.

Villa rocked by Wilshere injury!

View attachment 94188

In the Portsmouth game this weekend where Villa youngster and key player for Beckham scored the only goal of the game and therefore winning the game for Villa, but on the 67th minute Wilshere was taken off with an injury. First thoughts were that is was not that bad but we can now report that Jack will be out for at least 2 months, devastating news for Villa but will they get by as some say the other Jack in the squad, Jack Rodwell can step up to the mark.
