its no longer DEVGRU, but NSWDG (they love their abbreviations)

NSWDG is the OFFICIAL name of Seal Team 6. DEVGRU, like ST6 is a nickname. No one isn't call it NSWDG though are they? Same thing applies to SFOD-D. They're just gonna call it "Delta" or "Delta Force."

Yeah, they did.

But I still wonder how the 160th SOAR managed to fly them in across the border from Afghanistan without being detected...

becuase they are **** hot at what they do and the MH-60L is an amazing piece of kit, upgraded specifically to fly ultra quiet just metres above the ground at night

The "group" which hunts terrorist and other high value targets is called Task Force 88 ( or was called if not renamed ). And it consists of British SAS, SBS and for americans Delta , NSWDG ( = Seal Team 6 ) , Rangers and ISA ( CIA, NSA...)

This operation, though, was under the command of JSOC and SAD. And TF88 operated in Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Afghanistan and Pakistan isn't their area of responsibility for hunting HVTs.

Iraq was Task Force Black's ( SAS & SBS ) area of operation whereas american parts of TF88 operate globally.

A foggy story, just like all stories americans are involved, but either way, I would prefer to get him in trial.
But one thing.. the arabs (some) celebrated when 9/11 happened, and the Americans celebrate the death of Osama, in the end it's all a paradox and the values are the same, human beings aren't good or bad because of their religion or ethnic origin.

1) hardly a foggy story so dont generalise americans

2) not just americans celebrate his death, right across the world people are, particularly in kenya

Um.. No. :P
Almost all of TF88 operated in Iraq. It's mission was to disrupt AQ ops in Iraq.

TF Black wasn't entirely British. It WAS based around the 22nd SASR, and it had both SBS and SFOD-D personnel. It's area of responsibility was Baghdad.

Other sub-units had other areas of the country. DEVGRU had western Iraq and a company sized element of Rangers that would rotate had northern Iraq.

No Afghanistan/Pakistan here.

Jeez - some people on here are massive Geeks.

"No! It was Task Force 7.8! NOT 7.764393 - You're such a ******, ******!"

Graphic reconstruction of how it went down:

Yes Afganistan/ Pakistan, Syria , Horn of Africa...

They weren't "made" for Iraq. It was first TF11, then some other numbers, then TF145 and last known is TF88.

The numeration of the Task Force is irrelevant here. What I'm saying is that TF 88 was made to disrupt AQ ops in Iraq. The only missions done outside Iraq were in the Horn of Africa and a cross-border raid into Syria that killed Abu Ghadiya.

The only known commando and CT TF in Afghanistan is Task Force 373 aka "Taliban Hunters."

In NATO numeration there are no decimals. Sorry Joss.
