Silly first sentence. Dont embarrass yourself. I dont work for SI.
If the AI can do it, its not an match engine issue. That's what you fail to understand. Bug and issues affect the user and AI equally. There is no such thing as a human sided bug.

Incidentally I've spotted and reported more bugs than you even realise exist ;) It's not about defending, its about know what is, and isn't a bug.

Just to make a fair point, when I get back in tomorrow evening I will post a list of things I considered bugs. But like i say issues and bugs etc affect ai and user equally in the ME. So if the *** man is doing a better job than you, you have to look at what you are doing. If he is using your tactics and doing better, then you know your issues start to lie around your in-game management. But the whole "mods are defending" argument just doesn't wash round here.
 
The way this match engine is it's not been about making sensible tactics the last few years as much as it's been bug exploitation during each specific patch. Case in point being several times over the last few years where your team is doing great, tactics are working and then they patch the game and suddenly the team that was running away with the title is losing 6-0 to a league 2 team and goes on a 15 games streak with no wins and like 5 goals. I'm sorry but that is not realistic given that this happens every single save, every single season in some shape or form no matter what you do.

It's essentially a simulator that does such a **** poor job of simulating that it's worthless until a month before the new(increasingly overpriced) game comes out(which'll have all the same bugs as seen for years). But I'm sure we're all just not moving the sliders to exactly 3.54cm to the left or whatever it is that supposedly works.
 
When your defender dribbles from outside the 18 yard box into your own goal and attempts to score whilst on the line...

Whats with the always hitting the post 3 to 4 times in every game? Hearder off the post, long shot off the post, free kick that just grazes the top of the bar!!!
 
How is it that when a player plays for me, he is complete ****( i'm talking about you, suarez (6.87 rating in 35 matches)), but when i suddenly transfer them, they become the complete ****(8.05 in 24 matches for madrid, and counting), and when i sign a player who is the complete ****(lewandowski (bundesliga top scorer two seasons in a row)), they become worthless( 4 goals in 30 matches)??? I have tried all possible types of formations and tactics,man management techniques, I've all but kissed their ***** (pun intended) literally but I cannot get any striker to score.... and oh yes, my midfielder must be trying to hit some of their enemies in the stands, cos once my midfielder gets the ball from 35 yards out, that ball is going 35 yards behind the goal. I have set work ball into box, be disciplined, shoot less often, and worked on the pass instead of shoot PPM.. still nothing. Realistic my balls...
 
I've always believed that FM was a very tough game, but this year it is revealing even worst.


I've tried different career: AC Milan (my fav team), Real Madrid, Sothampton, Vitesse and Atalanta.


Well, the only one which "works" is R.Madrid (but, how could be otherwise?); the others su*k!


Maybe you did a great pre-season, win each game even with pile of goals, then, when the season stars, you begin to lose games one by one.
Southampton, e.g.: it has a very very good team, with excellent players, even young! But, at a certain point, I began to lose with lots of goal difference and my team became the worst defense in the whole championship.
After two massive failures (6-1 vs Man City which was just 2 positions above me and 5-1 vs Fulham which was 1 position under me), I decided to give up because it was too frustrating.


I use good tactics (I prefer an offensive 4231, if I can), but sometimes they seem not to be enough.
 
My second season in the spl with rangers and i seem to only be able to beat bigger teams , i beat ajax and liverpool to get into the europa cup and celtic in the league but i seem to condtantly draw against the likes of ross county , motherwell etc . Sitting 4th from bottom after 10 games 2 wins 7 draws and a defeat , nothing i do seems to change it
 
- Constant injuries & picking up knocks
- Hitting the woodwork like two times per game

Except this isn't true either. I think that says more about how people attempt to game the engine and run into difficulties. Lots of people don't do this and don't have these issues. If you exploit a bug, and the big gets fixed, you have zero ground to complain that your approach isn't working.
 
I find this game very frustrating. What is with your full backs average ratings being below 6 despite being good players. Dominating games and losing because your defenders make ridiculous errors. The opposition goalkeeper getting 9+ ratings in games. Im sick of it to be honest, investing lots of time playing it only to feel like im wasting my time (i know i am really.) I spent money on the game, and im just sick of feeling cheated and angry when I am supposed to be playing it for enjoyment. Money wasted at the moment it looks.
 
ps i enojyed fm 2010-2012 much more than the last two, this one in particular i found absolutely shocking and it angers me.
 
Some of the goals Ive seen my players score In particular my striker are out of this world...18 yard box strikes in the very bottom corner with pin point accuracy....get in!!..1st time volleys in the box into the opposite side of the goal keeper..have that!..mans headers powering past the keeper....pick that out!!! exquisite ***** over the keeper as he rushes out...who's Messi?..25 yard worldys with power and backspin dipping just over the goal keeper under the bar....absolute howitzers!! ......


play lay the ball in behind the defence to the same player for a nice easy 1-1 vs the gk......can't score??!! hits the corner flag or post or goal keeper??!!

Doesnt matter if it's Jon smith or RVP same thing. And no I'm not **** and yes my striker can score he's 20+ goals with about 10-15 goals for the IFs. It's about how they are scored and the chances missed that make for a very unrealistic game. Usually I'm 2/3 up very early and I've already used up available chances that I'm allowed to score so I have to watch the the next 25-30 shots go anywhere but in the goal and then they score from 2/3 chances. Drew 12 games only 1 was I the team who came back to draw. And the rest where mainly 2-2 or 3-3 with the opposition scoring 2/3 late goals.
 
I'm Arsenal, have sold Cazorla and Walcott for a combined 60m pounds.

I then buy a couple of world-class footballers...
Robert Lewandowski, Kwadwo Asamoah to play alongside world-class Mesut Ozil... with a depth of forwards such as Giroud and Carlos Vela.

At the back? Unstoppable pairing of Koscielny and Papadopolous.

Away at West Ham.

Expecting to wipe them away with my 4-1-2-1-2 diamond tactic starring Lewandowski, Ozil, Giroud etc.

I lose 2-1.

I'm still playing FM13 and I hope this has been sorted on 14 - I have an FA Cup final on Sat, so on Wed I played a weakened side and won 4-1. My fans were disappointed and said that a better result could have been achieved with a stronger side... Go F yourselves - what a load of ridiculousness. Almost makes me want to resign.
 
Been playing the game for a couple of days. Cant say I found the match engine that bad/buggy. Its not worse than FM13s its perhaps better ...

My general results are okay, but the finishing is a joke in every 2nd game or so; leading to 30+ shots and very few goals to follow. Another "funny" piece of information. On the official forums, in an already existing thread about poor finishing, I quoted and asked a SI employee who was posting in the topic, if they intentionally messed up the finishing because they were running out of time before the release to fix, what seems like massive defensive flaws in the ME. Only a few minutes later, the whole 300+ post thread was gone. ;)

But how did they mess up the finishing intentionally, you might ask? My bet is that they massively downtuned the influence of stats like finishing and composure. Its just a guess though.

Yeah, I was Barca in a test save just to try out Messi & the amount of chances he missed was ridiculous. I thought with his 20 finishing he'd bag nearly every clear cut chance... how wrong was I
