There you go - all players in FM have on average 10 stats in their individual position which need to be considered when analysing someone for purchase, or, as you are, wondering why a players' not performing. It's not a question of having great numbers in just a couple of stats, but having a good AVERAGE spread for all the stats reqiuired. EG: A player with all his specialised stats at say 15 each, would be very decent ( but very rare ) player indeed.

And with the player search having so many options, it is very easy to find someone who fits the bill but isn't terribly expensive. But sometimes the game will just decide that it won't let you win, no matter what. So the AI will get one chance and put it away while your Rooney and Ronaldo will have the goal to themselves and yet hit the post/crossbar. It is perhaps the game's way of simulating luck, but unfortunately it can be very frustrating. And unrealistic to boot.

EDIT: It is not very easy. I retract that. It is difficult to know the price at which you can get them.

Not true. If you have a good *** Man, you can listen to him. But you have to know enough to know when not to listen to him and the others.

At the risk of stating the obvious, different tactics vary in quality also. I've used a so-so tactic & my strikers have been firing blanks - then used a much better tactic & they score for fun.

Obviously, that's why I said "fit the bill". You need a decent tactic and players who suit that tactic.

But what I said about bad luck etc is still true. I am using a tactic that has netted me back to back EPL and ECC titles with ManU, but I still get the bad luck scenario sometimes. It happened to me during the FA cup semi-final and I lost 1-0 to Arsenal. It is probably the game trying to simulate real life luck but it is a game after all. Hopefully it will get better as FM develops, so you can't win everything but also when your players are of that quality and fired up, they shouldn't miss open nets several times. It is hard to simulate such things in a game, I know. But I will always wish for it

I was drawing 1-1 against Arsenal with Port Vale (I'm in the Prem). They had a corner, my defence clear it and Sanogo is sent clear of their defence on the halfway line. Instead of running towards the goal and having a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, which anyone with an IQ above 12 would do, he decides to punt the ball out out the pitch sideways for a throw in, and the match ends 10 seconds later.

I have Tactical Retardation.

I've had one massive amazing save with someone else's tactic, but when starting anthor save and using my own, i am utterly useless.

It been this way since the game changed it name to FM.

2nd goal: Persie shoots but it hits the woodwork then it hits back of my keeper and own goal.

Few minutes later Bolat(keeper) hits the ball and it hits back of Otamendi and Persie score an open goal.

Was too close to take 1 point

Well, I didn't mean the normal tactical instructions. It all depends on your and his playing style. If they don't match, then he may be the best but you should not listen to him without your own analysis. Of course, if you are using a successful tactic then you don't listen to what he says. The problem is that he can't analyze the stats correctly.

I use him mostly for OIs, for team talks (with my modifications) and unimportant press conferences. I don't listen to the staff's pre-match advice except for the 'danger-man' comment advice. All this works like a treat for me without requiring me to do everything

how typical. Last game of season, I'm in 4th with the 5th team trailing me by one point.

On 90+1 the opponent turns their entire game around, and scores the equalizer. The 5th place team just so happened to win their game (shocker). And instead of 4th, I come in 5th.

The ratio of geting injuries is way to high i my save with derby im dragging reserve players with shameful stats in and getting destroyed, the need to fix this for fm11 i have NO centre mids...

There is my problem, when i hit the button print screen in FM10, and I go to paint and paste, it won't paste the picture from FM10, it posts a picture of desktop(if i have open opera, pictue of opera etc.).
If someone know how to solve this problem, please help me. And sorry for my english, it's bad, I come from Slovenia. Thank you very much.

I've heard of this problem before and I'm pretty sure there is a thread somewhere on how to fix it, just use the "live search" I'm sure you'll find it.

USA Salary Cap already gives me great annoyance. Thank goodness I left to move to Italy. I made Toronto FC extremely rich (Balance of £30 million and overall wage difference of at least £100mill) but the stupid salary cap won' let me use it all! I could have gotten Eden Hazard and Nicklas Bendtner if it weren't for the stinkin' salary cap!

Ending a game with 20-30 shots, 10+ shots on target, and your opponent have 3 shots, 1 on target, and the final score being 0-1.

Sometimes I wonder if there's something I'm missing when this happens, as my strikers stats are usually far superior to the opponent's keeper when this happens...

Edit - Also, when I buy a handful of wonderkids, want to send them out on loan...and the only teams interested are below Championship level.
