Potential Perfection 4-2-3-1 'ull - FM 11.3

This looks superb, I'd be idiotic if I didn't give it a try.

Dutchbrit I am playing as Arsenal and this tactic looks good because it is how Arsenal are set up in real life.. I just wanted to ask what role you think would suit fabregas best? He has the ability to play as a deep lying playmaker and also as a trequartisa. I want to get the best from him because he is going to essential to how this formation works. Also I am not sure about Van Persie as a poacher, would you advice changing is role or keeping him as a poacher.

hey gunnerjames. I would use fabregas as a deep lying playmaker, i think he's perfect for this role. also try RVP as a poacher, he doesnt really have enough pace for the wings. this tactic really works well with fast wingers, walcott on the right wing would be amazing. and maybe nasri on the left ? and wilshire in the trequarista role.

but its up to you of course, play around with it and see what works for you :)

Thanks dutchbrit. Would you recommend changing the philosophy with Arsenal. I seem to always go with a balance philosophy and then choose control even when I am playing weaker teams. My defensive line is always pushed up to about 15 notches on the tactical slider. I am also curious to find out what would you do if the opposition is playing a normal width against you.

Do you use any touchline instructions to deal with the opposition's treat during the game and if so what would you recommend

Well, i'm loving this so far...

Played 21, Won 16, Drawn 5 in the league..Best attack and best defence...

But I KNOW i'm about to walk into a slump!!

thats up to you gunnerjames, i would have thought a team like arsenal can control most games :-)

keep praising your players macca and they'll continue to perform for you.

well my premier league run has come to an end. just lost at home to chelsea, 1-3. and then arsenal up next away, they slaughtered me 4-1. im now 5th in the premier league and my players morale is still very good. so hopefully i can maybe end the season in 5th or 6th.. trying to qualify for europa which will bring the club lots of tv money.

Good luck dutchbrit,

I'm now starting to look for players for next year (i reckon this will get me promotion, talk about being complacent!). What sort of key attributes you do you look for in each position?

good mental attributes but concentration is most important i think. with good concentration players wont make as many mistakes.

also really reaaaaaally important is to get some pace/acceleration on the wings. this is vital actually. the amount of goals ive scored from my wingers being able to skin defenders and lay the ball off to the poacher is shocking.

also goalkeeper, try to get alex smithies from huddesfield. he wont let you down :) or any other keeper with good attributes in command of area & communication.

i will try this one whit antwerp (belgain second division)

Hey dutchbrit84 this is completely of topic but what skin do you use?

steklo_x1_calendar :-)

im very happy right now, Hull's first premier league season just finished... we ended up in 4th place !! 3 points above chelsea who ended in 5th place. it was very tight towards the end, especially as my last 3 games were man-u, man-u & everton... yes, man-u twice in 2 days !.. i think there was a mistake when the game re-arranged the dates due to EURO Cup.

speaking of EURO Cup, i got Hull to the final against CSKA Moscow... things were looking great until my usually trusty striker Le Fondre did a silly tackle and was red carded... i had 80minutes to play with 10 men,,, they scored at half time, and i managed to get a goal back in the 2nd half.... only for Necid to score the winner for CSKA in the last minute. oh well :-)

Hull are now in the Champions League with this tactic :)

what type of players should be in eatc posisions? the key attributes to look after???

Dutchbrit, I think you've really got something here, but I keep running through little patches of bad form and struggle against certain teams.

You should be getting more credit, but you sort of mention you do some tweaks here and there dependant upon your prematch reports, would you be able to write a little guide with the things you do, it would really help (me) to try and re-produce your results.

Again, well done.

macca i think the name of the tactic says it all really mate, its potentially very good. if you have great morale in the dressing room, the right players and good manager ability, this tactic certainly works. but without it, it can be pretty average.

for me this is part of the fun, i mean who wants to use a tactic that just works every time against any opposition ? then your not really a manager, your just using a tactic and going through the game without really doing anything.

i'll list the most important things for me.

1. good morale, keep the players happy by praising them and always be extra positive in pre-match interviews.
2. get the right players, pace & trickery on the wings, good concentration in defence, and good tacking & passing in midfield.
3. get a good scout with high tactical knowledge & tell him to scout the opposition always, this helps you prepare.
4. target opposition players with low morale and/or low concentration. for example if their CB has low morale and you close him down & tackle hard, he will make many mistakes and your likely to score more easily.

not sure what else to say :)

Oh, i totally agree, it's potentially brilliant.

You're right about using a tactic that works every time, it takes away some of the managment elements of it. I'm sorry i probably wasn't very clear before...

What i'm really interested in is your interpretation of the scouting (number 3 in the list) and the types of things you look for and then what levers you pull in the tactic. I'm not brilliant at "tweaking" and don't want the tactic to fail because i've spoilt the balance by messing about, I guess i was just after your thought process so I could follow it, you're clearly better at this stuff than me !

hmmm, well my scout tells me what formation they are likely to play in and what type of football they play. he says the opposition have pacy forwards, so defend deep or use fast defenders. stuff like that.

also listen to pre-match advice, your staff members will help you too, telling you to close down certain players, or that the opposition struggle against teams who play narrow. so then when the match starts, go to tactics and make your team play very narrow. you get the idea :)

what a tactic my antwerp game is going great 14w 6d 2l

i love this tactic too dutchbrit. Very nice indeed
