We have had a very interesting window. First of all the most eye-catching transfer was Mauro Icardi leaving the club. Man City came in with a mammoth bid which was too big to turn down and to make a profit of 38.8m on his year stint at the club, realistically I wanted to keep him but a silly fee like that I had to take. We brought in Alexandre Pato from Corinthians at the end of his deal and before he come he suffered a cruciate ligament injury which rules him out for another two months. Other than that we brought in some regens for the future of the club and a replacement striker in Yassine Benzia who's contract was expiring at the end of the year but he has been tipped for big things at Lyon.

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 0 Chelsea
Pereyra (58'), Icardi (72')

MOTM: Roberto Pereyra

We restart the year with an excellent home result in the cup against Chelsea. Providing we can hold a good result at Stamford bridge, our fans may just be treat to another Capital One Cup final this year.

FA Cup Third Round
Saturday 7th January 2017

New White Hart Lane

Tottenham 1 - 1 West Brom
Benzia (1')

MOTM: Erik Lamela

A well earned replay at the New White Hart Lane, young Benzia scored within 30 seconds of his debut and impressed the travelling West Brom fans who have high hopes of him becoming the new Mauro Icardi.

Barclays Premier League
Tuesday 10th January 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 1 - 0 Stoke
Diego Costa (40')

MOTM:
Filip Kiss

Another single goal to seal us the game from the little Brazilian wizard Diego Costa weaved past four players before slotting the ball in the bottom corner, a goal capable of winning any match alone.

Barclays Premier League
Sunday 15th January 2017
Olympic Stadium

West Ham
0 - 2 West Brom
Benzia (45', 54')

MOTM: Yassine Benzia

This was our first visit to West Hams new stadium, the Olympic Stadium which staged alot of events for the London 2012 Olympics. But this wasn't the big spectacle it was Yassine Benzia exciting all of the fans with a fantastic brace which he took both goals with expert finishes. The frontman looks a real acquisition for West Brom.

FA Cup Third Round Replay
Wednesday 18th January 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 1 Tottenham
Johnson (62'), Brooker (70')

MOTM: Lewis Brooker

We progress to the fourth round but what a day for the 16 year old Lewis Brooker making his debut for the first team and he managed to get his name on the scoresheet and claimed the Man Of The Match. What a way to introduce yourself to the fans of The Hawthorns.

FA Cup Fourth Round draw:
West Brom v Cardiff

Capital One Cup Semi Final Second Leg
Wednesday 25th January 2017

Stamford Bridge

Chelsea 0 - 1 West Brom (0-3 agg)
Benzia (35')

MOTM: Kurt Zouma

WE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!! We are in another final and we beat Chelsea in their own back yard to get there. Yassine won it with a beautiful chip over Chelsea's keeper to send us there.

FA Cup Final draw:
Man City v West Brom

Barclays Premier League
Saturday 28th January 2017

KC Stadium

Hull 1 - 2 West Brom
Eremenko (33'), Benzia (89'), Diego Alves sent off

MOTM: Neil Taylor

A very.. entertaining match today after Diego Alves getting sent off and Hull scoring a equaliser in the 88th minute and jeering us that we conceded late on only for Yassine to score a minute after. We have had some rollercoaster games this year but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Barclays Premier League
Tuesday 31st January 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 2 Reading
Benzia (66', 77')

MOTM: Yassine Benzia

We should usually be winning matches like these but an individual effort from Robson-Kanu makes me take my hat off which was a magnificant strike from the young man. The positives I take out of the match was that Benzia got a brace and carried on his fine goalscoring form since joining from Lyon.

Barclays Premier League
Saturday 4th February 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 4 - 0 Bournemouth
Benzia (43', 46'), Taylor (53'), Johnson (82')

MOTM: Yassine Benzia

Bournemouth couldn't get near us today and we was excellent, two goals for the impressive Benzia and a first ever goal for the club for Neil Taylor after his three years at the club.

Barclays Premier League
Wednesday 8th February 2017

St Mary's Stadium

Southampton
2 - 0 West Brom

MOTM:Jack Hunt

A bad result for us today, Gaston Ramirez tore us apart from two quickfire goals and Southampton deserved their win. We wasn't at our best today but we have been excellent so I hope this is a one off performance.

FA Cup Fifth Round
Saturday 11th February 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 7 - 1 Fulham
Benzia (36'), Halilovic (40'), Ljajic (45+2, 55', 57'), O.G (72'), Eremenko (79')

MOTM:
Adem Ljajic

The biggest ever result I've ever had as a competitive match and we was just exceptional today, no team in the world would have matched us. A hat-trick from Adem claimed him the matchball and showed he is still matching his early season form

UEFA Champions League First Knockout Round First Leg
Tuesday 14th February 2017

CSKA-Peschanoye

CSKA Moscow 3 - 1 West Brom
Doria (82'),
Martins Indi sent off

MOTM:
Pontus Wernbloom

We have left ourselves a massive task on our hands to bring this tie back. We thought when we drew CSKA it was the easiest tie we could have wished for but they showed us they are no mugs by thrashing us 3-1. The only positive is the away goal which we can carry into the home tie.

Barclays Premier League
Saturay 18th February 2017

Stadium Of Light

Sunderland 2 - 3 West Brom
Benzia (2', 9', 46')

MOTM:
Yassine Benzia

Yassine was the individual who won us the game again today. He has been exceptional since joining from Lyon and having alot of pressure on his shoulders to fill the void left by Mauro Icardi he has done excellently and won this game on his own.

Barclays Premier League
Wednesday 22nd February 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 1 - 3 Tottenham
Benzia (62')

MOTM: Danny Rose

We wasn't at the races today and Tottenham took us to the cleaners, we didn't deserve anything from the match and we was poor. Yassine managed to get on the scoresheet but it wasn't enough as we didn't salvage anything from the tie.

Capital One Cup Final
Sunday 26th February 2017

Wembley

Man City 0 - 2 West Brom
Doria (78'), Diego Costa (83')

MOTM:
Neil Taylor

Another cup win!!! We have defending the Capital One Cup! Our second cup of the season after the Community Shield. We played out our skins today and stuck two second half goals past city to steal the title. I bet it was horrible for Mauro Icardi sat in the stands to witness his old team lifting the cup infront of him

West Brom 5 - 2 QPR
Benzia (27', 71', 90'), O.G (34'), Diego Costa (60'), Hughes sent off

MOTM: Yassine Benzia

Wow, what a fantastic result.. Furthermore a second hat-trick for Benzia in the space of weeks, Mauro Icardi's name is slowly being forgotten around The Hawthorns as this guy has been ripping defences apart since his move from Lyon in January.

FA Cup Sixth Round
Saturday 4th March 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 0 Stoke
Zouma (60'), Benzia (83')

MOTM: Steven N'Zonzi

A solid win in the FA Cup which pushes us into the Semi-Final and gives us a better chance of retaining the other trophy we won last year. We have been excellent this season playing attractive football aswell as being clinical.

FA Cup Semi Final draw:
Chelsea v West Brom

UEFA Champions League First Knockout Round Second Leg
Wednesday 8th March 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 4 - 1 CSKA Moscow (5-4 agg)
Douglas Costa (25'), Hughes (54', 69', 90+1')

MOTM: Will Hughes

What an occasion for us today turning a massive lead around in Europe to put us through and even more so to the youngster Will Hughes who scored his first career hat-trick and first ever Champions League goals what a proud moment for the 21-year old lad who only a year ago was playing against the likes of Brentford.

UEFA Champions League Quarter Final draw:

Barclays Premier League
Saturday 12th March 2017

Etihad Stadium

Man City 1 - 0 West Brom

MOTM: Mattia De Sciglio

A bitter pill to swallow losing against city and scoring an own goal in the last minute, but we have done it many times to teams that we was bound to be on the receiving end one day. We will train hard and try bounce back against Chelsea.

Barclays Premier League
Wednesday 15th March 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 2 Chelsea
Benzia (38', 62')

MOTM: Yassine Benzia

Probably a fair result on the reflection of the game. We both had our chances to win it but it was a top of the table clash which no team wanted to lose. Us and Chelsea have been toe to toe all season for the top spot but who will triumph in the end?

Barclays Premier League
Sunday 19th March 2017

Anfield

Liverpool 0 - 1 West Brom
Benzia (82')

We managed to get a late goal against a somewhat average Liverpool team in recent seasons who havn't been in and around the top four and have dropped off abit but I would still consider them a big opposition.

Barclays Premier League
Saturday 1st April 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 0 - 1 Swansea

MOTM: Virgil van Dijk

Today we lost the game in the very last kick of the game which has put a massive dent in our title hopes, Chelsea can extend their lead at the top now if they get a result. We need to keep our heads and composure to pick up the maximum amount of points available.

UEFA Champions League Quarter Final First Leg
Wednesday 5th April 2017

BayArena

Leverkusen 1 - 1 West Brom
Alexandre Pato (63')

MOTM: Hugo Mallo

We come away with the important away goal from Germany, the ex-Milan star Alexandre Pato got his first goal for the club since joining from Corinthians and recovering from his injury, he showed a glimpse of class to take the finish and we have something to play against the Germans when they come here.

FA Cup Semi Final
Saturday 8th April 2017

Wembley

Chelsea 0 - 1 West Brom
Pedro Obiang (87')

MOTM: Pedro Obiang

The tenacious midfielder scored his second goal of the season in the dying embers of the game when everybody thought the match was heading into extra time Pedro Obiang popped up from a knock down to volley the ball home and send us into the FA Cup final.

FA Cup Final draw:
Man Utd v West Brom

UEFA Champions League Quarter Final Second Leg
Tuesday 11th April 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 5 - 2 Leverkusen (6-3 agg)
Ljajic (18', 90+2'), Doria (70'), Pereyra (77', 90')

MOTM: Roberto Pereyra

What a fantastic match, after falling behind 2-1 we needed another two goals or we would go out on away goals. We sent the team to attack after the break and we went on a mad aggressive streak and we looked very dangerous, we will fancy ourselves against whoever we get next.

UEFA Champions League Semi Final draw:
West Brom

Barclays Premier League
Saturday 15th April 2017

Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff
0 - 2 West Brom
Benzia (30'), Mounier (70')

MOTM: Jacob Mellis

We did enough to come through this match with a win, we wasn't at our best but we managed to score two goals which was both taken very well.

UEFA Champions League Semi Final First Leg
Wednesday 19th April 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 1 Bayern Munich
Johnson (1', 90')

MOTM:
Adam Johnson

We have taken an advantage over the German giants tonight in our own yard and despite being on the fringes, Adam Johnson scored two magnificent goals and gives us a lead to protect in Germany. The only downside is that we conceded an away goal. We lacked a real goalscorer to finish things off as Benzia cannot be registered due to playing for Lyon and Alexandre Pato suffered a knock.

Barclays Premier League
Saturday 22nd April 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 1 Fulham
Benzia (30'), Ljajic (74')

MOTM:
Neil Taylor

Things are starting to tighten up as we head towards the end of the season, no team wants to slip up and make mistakes but we edged out Fulham to get the three points from the game. Benzia carried on his fine goalscoring form for us.

UEFA Champions League Semi Final Second Leg
Tuesday 25th April 2017

Allianz-Arena

Bayern Munich 2 - 0 West Brom (3-2 agg)

MOTM: Thomas Muller

We got beat tonight by a very classy German team which has hurt me as I thought we could of got to that final this year but I want the players to go out with their heads held high for reaching this stage of the competition again and hopefully next year we can go one further but it is a magnificent achievement for us.

Barclays Premier League

MOTM:

Laboured. Very, very slack performance and we wasn't quick, strong or able to challenge. We can't blame our exit from the Champions League as every team has suffered the heartache of it before and we must move on as we can still win two more trophies.

Barclays Premier League
Wednesday 3rd May 2017

Carrow Road

Norwich 0 - 1 West Brom
Douglas Costa (34')

MOTM: Jeff Hendrick

A full strength team against Norwich put in a very good performance and only mustered one goal, but one goal at this stage of the season is enough and it puts us on the top of the table. If we win our remaining games we will top the league.

FA Cup Final
Saturday 6th May 2017

Wembley

Man Utd
3 - 3 West Brom (3-5 pens)
Zouma (14'), Ljajic (33'), Eremenko (45')

MOTM: Roman Eremenko

We have another cup this season as we have defended both of our domestic cups!!! It was a nerve wracking experience going into penalties but we showed enough composure to come through it and win. The final was shadowed by ugly events as a United player deliberately went to hurt Yassine Benzia and he was stretchered off in the aftermath, something which I am disgusted with and there is no time or place for that in football.

Barclays Premier League
Wednesday 10th May 2017

St James Park

Newcastle 1 - 3 West Brom
Douglas Costa (1'), Ljajic (51'), Mounier (59')

MOTM: Roberto Pereyra

A delightful result against the toon! We are now a win away from winning the league, but this will be under immense pressure. If we win next game, we win the league, if we draw the result depends on Chelsea and if we lose then the league will be Chelsea's. The amount of pressure riding on the last game of the season is unbelievable.

Barclays Premier League
Sunday 14th May 2017

Old Trafford

Man Utd 4 - 1 West Brom
Alexandre Pato (45')

MOTM: Marouane Fellaini

It was very disappointing to go out in a fashion like this on the final day of the season and we got lost in the moment and Man Utd seeked revenge from the cup final defeat and ultimately got it as they denied us winning the Premier League.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Probably the best pickup of the window, was brought in as a quality rotation with Pereyra before he left for Madrid so it will be his position to lose.

Rene Adler: Brought in as I was chasing him and when Diego Alves wanted wages of 100,000 a week it was time to move him on, we got a good if not better replacement in Adler.

Abdel Barrada: A quality Moroccan who will give us another option in the midfield.

Yaya Toure: A guy with vast experience and will be good to have as a tutor aswell as a rotation in the team.

Mohamed Salah: After the loss of Adam Johnson we needed someone who could operate both flanks and he fits the bill.

Emmanuel Ruiz Diaz: The only regen mentioned on here as he is undoubted quality and can become possibly one of the best in the world. We beat off Barcelona and Madrid for his services from Sao Paolo.

Luke Shaw: We will need a solid full-back in a few years after Neil gets on and Luke Shaw has been tipped for big big things in England.

Outs:

Hugo Mallo:
Sold on due to being knocked out the team by the younger John Stones and he wasn't a fighting character, hopefully his career picks up at Norwich.

Alen Halilovic (loan): He will need first team football to improve his game and I can see him being a big part of my future.

Bruno Martins Indi: Never really challenged Doria and Zouma for a place at the back last year and we pick up a healthy 8.25m profit on him.

Saido Berahino: Would have liked him to have gone out on loan one more year but the lad wants stability which is fair enough for his career choice.

Roberto Pereyra: One of our players of the season last year but we received 30m and a possible 7.5m in add-ons. Once a team like Madrid comes calling for your services players cannot say no.

Rolando: Out on loan last year and not needed this year.

Diego Alves: I was happy with Diego as my #1 but due to his greed of a new contract I decided to move him on for 10m profit.

George Thorne: Was planning on using Thorne this year after his years out on loan but after the signing of Ruiz Diaz a better, younger player I moved George on for a bigger fee.

Community Shield
Sunday 13th August 2017
Wembley

West Brom 2 - 2 Chelsea (4-3 pens)
Salah (44'), Hughes (90+3')

MOTM: John Stones

We win the Community Shield for the third year running. A good penalty shoot out lets us ****** the Shield from Chelsea again. A debut goal for Salah which he took very well and a late goal from Will Hughes to take the game to penalties.

Barclays Premier League
Sunday 20th August 2017

The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 1 Southampton
Yaya Toure (41'), Benzia (50')

MOTM: Neil Taylor

Southampton have become somewhat a feeder club after buying players off us when they are not needed as four ex players was on show for them today. We managed to win our first game of the season against a well organised Southampton team.

Barclays Premier League
Saturday 26th August 2017

Craven Cottage

Fulham 0 - 2 West Brom
Ljajic (28', 89')

MOTM: Adem Ljajic

A game in an example of why our tactic works so well, Adem scored both of his goals from cutting inside and having a good shot due to the overlapping full-backs which the defenders become confused what to do and it creates alot of space which allowed us to win this match.

The German giants have approached Raul after his excellent transformation of West Brom.. He has a big transfer budget to play with should he go to Bayern and an already established squad after Pep G left a fantastic one behind. The Hawthorns

West Brom 2 - 2 Man City

You never know what to expect with Tottenham, some days they turn up and are unbeatable and others they just roll over. MOTM: Adem Ljajic

We crushed Wigan today on our assault to win the Capital One Cup for the third time in a row. Four different scorers on the sheet and some individual excellence. Alexandre Pato is still on the road from a long-term injury recovery and hopefully we can get him back to his best to rediscover his best form.

We was that amazing today we didn't allow Newcastle a shot at goal and bossed the game with 73% possession. If it wasn't for Tim Krul in goal for Newcastle, things could of got really embarrassing and he was just pipped to Man Of The Match by Yassine with yet more goals.
