August Review

A disastrous start away to Recreativo but we've responded well. We were unfortunate not to win against Almeria and played brilliantly to beat Barca B. Let's hope we can kick-start our season from here.​

September Review

Another month that we have grown into. Our two most recent performances have been outstanding and I'm starting to see a bit more cohesion in the team. There's still plenty of work to do and as I said at the start of the season, I want to see more consistency in the players. A final word for Eneko Satrustegui who's been with us for just over two years now and finally got his first goal for the club against Deportivo. A fitting reward for a superb member of the team.​
 
nice story so far.. unlucky in the playoff.. hope this season will be better.

I like the way you handle your transfers and setup the team that is not too large.
Rather than being attracted by the large number of free transfers, you have promoted some exciting youngsters.
 
Thanks buddy. Too many times I've seen promising youngsters wilt away into mediocrity. It doesn't always work, but I'd love to have a team full of academy players.

I can't handle a large squad. Even with one this size, there's always one or two who don't get enough playing time. I'd hate to have 5+ who simply do not play. It's a waste of wages too!

October Review

An excellent month with the only blemish being the disappointing home defeat to Hercules. We responded well though with an emphatic victory over Valladolid. The undoubted highlight of the month was my first derby win. A fierce contest away to Sporting Gijon. I am delighted to have won that. We're in a much better position now and I'm hopeful that we can keep this up for a while yet.​

November Review

A pretty poor month with three defeats in five. We simply cannot afford to lose two home games on the trot. Girona are a good side but we really should be beating teams like Alaves. We once again need to dig deep and get back on track. The league is still incredibly tight and there's plenty of time to rectify the situation.​

December Review

The Gimnastic result has turned this month into a poor one. I would have been very pleased to have won our two league games and yet exited the cup. We didn't play too badly against Levante but the odds were always against us. We played brilliantly against Murcia but didn't do enough against Gimnastic. I'm hoping the short Christmas break will give us a chance to re-group and get back on track.​
 
It's just 8 points to the top. Not that bad.
 
Unlucky these past two months mate, hopefully back on track in January though. The league seems pretty hard this season though! Sporting Gijon and Espanyol especially

January Review

A superb month for us and a decent response to our poor form at the end of the year. We've come from behind to win in three of our four victories and battled back from 2-0 down to draw against Recreativo. It shows great character in the team and a great desire to never give up. We fully deserve to be 4th in the league and I can only hope we keep this up.​

February Review

A worrying two defeats after an excellent start to the month. I'm not sure what it's down to at the moment. Biel Ribas missed both defeats through injury and will likely miss a few more. Is it down to his experience and assurance in goal? We've not played at all well and deserved to lose both games. Terribly frustrating after the two brilliant victories. Time to pick ourselves up again and recapture the form we showed in the first six weeks of the year.​

March Review

Another disappointing month and I'm beginning to worry that we're at risk of falling away. We've suffered an astonishing amount of injuries to key players. Aside from those listed above, Biel Ribas and Hector Simon are only just returning and I'm concerned about how we are going to cope. If we're to have any chance of promotion this season, our poor performances will need to end now. The league is still tight and we've every opportunity of turning this around.​

April Review

We've had a very tough month and despite the two defeats, I'm pleased with how we've played. The Eibar game was obviously a disappointment but we were unfortunate against the league leaders, Girona. We have to acknowledge now that automatic promotion is going to be very difficult to accomplish. All we can do is try and take as many points as possible from our remaining five games and make sure we still have a fighting chance in the play-offs.​

May Review

We battled through this month and secured ourselves a play-off spot. The results may not have been emphatic scorelines but they were very professional performances. We didn't panic and made sure of the victory. The final day of the season is a bit of a dead rubber. The play-off places have all been secured and either Espanyol or Girona will win the league. We're going to go for the victory and try to take some momentum into the play-offs.​

Season Preview

We've done it! An incredible win in the final against Cordoba and we've won promotion to La Liga! The semi-final victories against Murcia were some of the best performances I've seen from this team and they set us up nicely for the final. I wasn't confident going up against Cordoba, they'd been in great form towards the end of the season and were scoring goals for fun. They were the much better side at our place but I took encouragement from the clean sheet and knew anything was possible in the second leg. The two early goals helped massively and every time Cordoba worked their way back into it, we scored again.
I'm overjoyed to have secured promotion. Truthfully, I was already preparing for another year in Liga Adelante just a few weeks back as it looked like our form had slipped. Just like my first season in charge, we really stepped up when it mattered most and have delivered on a massive scale. We can sit back this summer and look forward to an exciting adventure in the top flight, our first since 2001.

Player of the Season



Diego Cervero

Another superb season from our captain. 30 goals and 8 assists in 48 appearances is a fantastic return. His form slowed a little in the later months but his performances against Murcia gave us the belief that we could go all the way. Time is not on Diego's side and I'm delighted that he will get to experience La Liga with us.



Cristian Ceballos

Cristian had a slow start after joining us in January 2015. He showed glimpses of his true quality last season but struggled for consistency. This season he has taken his game to another level and has been instrumental in our attacking play. 17 goals and 12 assists is a superb contribution and I'm looking forward to seeing him play at a higher level.



Nestor Susaeta

Another incredible season for Nestor with 15 goals and 20 assists. At 32 years old, he probably doesn't have too many years left with us and I'm really pleased he'll get to enjoy the experience of La Liga whilst still a first team player.
