Thanks for your support so far peoples. Im away for the weekend so will be back next week with the start of La Liga!

YES!! Well done man, amazing results in the play-offs. I'm totally gripped to this

Congrats on your promotion to La Liga. I still think that the hardest league to emerge out of is El Segundo in Espana. Freaking brutal play-off system. I never got to find out if the Yellow Submarine of Cadiz could make it in Liga Adelante. Best of luck in La Liga.

Outgoing Transfers

Young striker Julio has been released on a free transfer. We have an abundance of young strikers looking to progress and Julio was, unfortunately, quite far down the pecking order. Juan Steven, Salvador Nunez, Jon Toral, David, Fabian Noble and Israel Gonzalez will all spend the season out on loan.

Squad Overview

Goalkeepers

View attachment 375819

Biel Ribas will continue as our number one. Ayoze Gamiz will deputise.

Defence

View attachment 375818

Ivan Urunuela broke into the first team early on last season and will continue on the right. David Fernandez provides experienced cover. Hector Ladero and Jose Pardo are our centre backs and will be supported by Javi Soria and Roger Riera. Soria call also play in central midfield. Eneko Satrustegui will continue on the left and youngster Yonatan Benitez, promoted this summer, will support.

Midfield

View attachment 375816

The midfield will be much the same. Victor Andres and Borja Martinez will be in the centre, Hector Simon as cover. The forward three of Susaeta, El Amrani and Ceballos will be supported by Ruben Ramiro and Josep Sene.

Attack

Club captain Diego Cervero is, as always, our main striker. The ever improving Diego Suarez provides excellent cover in this position.

Season Preview

Our preparation on the field has been excellent. We've played some very good teams away from home and have only lost to Mallorca. Off the field, we still have some work to do. I've identified three players that I'd like to bring to the club but the board have been slow in releasing some of the funds earned from promotion. Thankfully, the players are free agents and will hopefully still be available if and when we receive some money. Stayed tuned on that one.
We're all incredibly excited to get going in La Liga. The squad look full of confidence as we approach the starting point. We are under no illusions just how tough this is going to be and every point gained will be incredibly valuable. The target is very simple, to stay up. We begin the campaign away to Celta Vigo.

August Review

A really unfortunate start in the league as we lose to a late penalty at Celta Vigo. We played brilliantly and didn't deserve to lose at all. We were finally granted some funds to strengthen the squad. Twenty-three year olds Brazilian Winger Pablo Dyego joins us after being released from his contract at Fluminense. I don't anticipate him being a starter just yet but anything could happen. Experienced Argentine Alejandro Faurlin joins us after leaving QPR in the summer. Alejandro can provide cover in every central midfield area and I'm hoping he will convince me to start him.

Been waiting for this. I hope you'll stay in the La Liga. How much was your transfer budget? And again, it would be nice if you put screenshots of the new players you buy.

No problem. I'll whack em up later on. Transfer budget was, again, around 100k. That went straight into wages. Most players got a huge increase after promotion so was seriously in 'the red'. The two new guys were brought in when the board agreed to extend the wage budget which put me about 40kp/w in 'the black'. Wouldn't give me any more transfer budget.

Faurlin looks decent enough for La Liga. I hope your transfer budget will improve next season!

September Review

The demolition at Barcelona could be very damaging. We travel to the Bernabeu next and it's the worst possible fixture to face after this defeat. We started the month well with a decent draw away at Malaga. We also fought back from 2-0 down at home to Girona. A game I was hoping to win but, ultimately, was happy to draw. Morale in the squad is very low at the moment and we need to get the Madrid game out of the way and try to pick ourselves up.

October Review

We end the month still searching for a victory but we can take encouragement from the draws against Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad. We were desperately unlucky not to win away at Sociedad but probably didn't do enough to win at home to Bilbao. We expectedly lost at Real Madrid but at least bettered our result at the Nou Camp. The Elche result was particularly hard to swallow, losing to an incredibly late own goal. We lifted ourselves off the bottom with the two recent draws and have games in hand on all of the teams around us. We're well up for the fight for survival but need to keep working hard to pick up the points.

November Review

I'm delighted to have recorded our first win of the season but the three defeats leave us in much the same position. We're still in trouble and need to take our chances when they're presented to us. There's still a long way to go but we're going to need to pick up points very soon. Nestor Susaeta and Eneko Satrustegui picked up knocks against Grenada and will miss most, if not all, of December. A quick congratulations to our three academy products involved with the Spanish national team setup. Yonatan Benitez and Ivan Urunuela were called up to the Under 19's for the first time. Youssef El Amrani was involved with the Under 21's for the first time too.

Not good man, not good! I hope you will make it!

December Review

Despite our cup heroics, we're still falling well short in the league. We have a game in hand but are eight points adrift of Celta Vigo. It's a concerning situation but I'm hoping our win against Bilbao can spur us on in the new year.

I have decided to step down as manager of Real Oviedo. I've been deliberating this decision for a few weeks now and feel that the time is right for me to step aside. Our results this season have not been good enough and as time wore on, I didn't feel like the right person to take the club forward. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with Real Oviedo and hope that the team can push on and retain it's rightful place in La Liga.

Thank you all for reading and apologies for this coming to an end. I wasn't far off getting sacked and decided that I'd rather resign. It's been great fun! Thank you all again.

As disappointed as I am with this ending, I can understand why you did it.

I hope to see a new story from you soon and I can make a suggestion if/when you do, don't name the story after the team, rather name it after what you're trying to achieve

I'd consider staying with this save and taking over another Spanish team.
