Our disappointing Primeira Liga campaign has come to a disappointing end as we have no chance of making to the Knockout stage of this competition. We still have one game remaining but it will be meaningless to us now. It was disappointing that we were the better team and could not find a win to beat them. Our only chance was by a penalty.

Kayke scored the first goal of the game by a penalty after Yago gave it away by a handball. Paulo Sergio tied the game after a well timed finish from close range when he took advantage of Alex's mistake. Paulo scored his 2nd and the comeback after a tidy finish from 13 metres.

Flamengo will head to Estadio Nilton Santos as they will face the Brazilian giants and rivals Botafogo in the Campeonato Carioca.​

We finally had our first big test of the season and it was against our rivals Botafogo. I'm happy to leave this game with a draw. It was an intense game and was surprised that no one got ejected.

Emerson Sheik scored the first goal of the game after taking advantage of Jean's error to score a well timed finish from close range. Diego tied it in the closing minutes after a tidy finish from 12 metres.

Flamengo will host their Clássico dos Milhões rivals Vasco da Gama in the final First Stage match in Campeonato Carioca.​

The First, Second, and Third Round of the 2016 Copa do Brasil has been drawn. Three times Copa do Brasil winner Flamengo will face Serie D side Náutico Futebol Clube. If the away team wins by more than 2 goals in the 1st leg, the 2nd leg will not be played.

If Flamengo manages to get to the Second Round, they will face either Serie D's Clube Esportivo Lajeadense or Serie B's Associação Chapecoense de Futebol.

The Copa do Brasil is a knockout football competition played by 86 teams, representing all 26 Brazilian states plus the Federal District. It is the Brazilian domestic cup and the Brazilian equivalent of the FA Cup, Taça de Portugal, Copa del Rey, Coupe de France, Coppa Italia, DFB-Pokal, and Copa Argentina, among others. Since 2013, the tournament has run from March to November. Teams that contest the Copa Libertadores de América join the Copa do Brasil directly in Round of 16. Also, the best 8 teams from the previous year's Campeonato Brasileiro Série A eliminated up to the third round qualify for Copa Sudamericana.

The competition is a single elimination knockout tournament featuring two-legged ties. In the first two rounds, if the away team wins the first match by 2 or more goals, it progresses straight to the next round avoiding the second leg. The winner qualifies for the next year's Copa Libertadores de América.

Both Gremio and Cruzeiro have the most Copa do Brasil titles with 4. The defending champions are Atletico Mineiro who will be looking to win three in a row.​

We came out victorious in our first ever Clássico dos Milhões match and it was a huge win. This derby was a true derby as a player was ejected from the game in nine minutes. Paolo Guerrero got his Hat trick today.

Pablo Guinazu was ejected of the game after arguing with the refeere when a penalty occurred. Paolo Guerrero scored by a penalty after a Julio Caesr's handball call. Duvler Riascos tied the game after a good finish from close range. Guerrero got his 2nd and made it 2-1 after taking advantage from Renato's error to score a placed shot. Guerrero got his hat trick after a good finish from close range. Wellington Silva made it 4-1 after an effort from close to goal which hit the post before going in. Riascos got his 2nd and cut the lead to 4-2 with a shot which owned an assist to the post. Emerson Sheik made it 5-2 after a well timed close range effort.

Flamengo next match will be the Second Stage of Campeonato Carioca match against a team to be announce.​

So the top 4 of each group will head to the Second Stage while the bottom 4 will head to Relegation Zone. Each team from both Second Stage and Relegation will seven games, all against their respective groups. In the Second Stage, The top 4 clubs will head to the Championship Stage whereas the bottom 2 clubs in the Relegation Stage will be relegated to the Campeonato Carioca Second Division.

No, its really complicated unless you follow the league. Personally, I do have knowledge about the Brazilian football but just not every state championships. An example Primeira Liga is brand a new competition but they really didn't say how clubs qualify to the competition. Another confusing thing is the qualification process to the Copa Sudamericana (South American Europa League) for Brazilian clubs. They say its the best 8 clubs eliminated in the 3rd round of Copa do Brasil and stuff.

We start our Second Stage campaign with another draw against Botafogo. This match, especially in the 1st half, was a dull game. Nothing really happen until the 69th minute when Botafogo scored. But in realty, I'm happy with the draw.

Sassa scored for Botafogo after taking advantage of Renato Santos' error to score an accurate finish. Paulinho tied the game after taking advantage of Souza's error to score a fierce shot.

Flamengo will host Coritiba in the final game of Primeira Liga.​

February for Flamengo was an interesting one as they qualified to the Second Stage of Campeonato Carioca but were disappointing eliminated in Premeira Liga. Also in February, they found out who they were going to face in Copa do Brasil, which ended up being Nautico. They went 2-2-1 during the month.

In February, Flamengo ended 1st place in Group B in the First Stage, thus qualifying to the Second Stage. They managed to play one game in the Second Stage but the game ended in a draw against Botafogo.

In a pretty much pointless match in Primeira Liga, at least we didn't end our disappointing campaign with a loss. With the squad featured players that haven't seen plenty of action this season, they came with a victory. The only good thing out this entire match is that we eliminated Coritiba from advancing.

Wellington Silva scored the first goal after a close range effort that was timed impeccably. Kayke made it 2-0 after a simple finish from close in. Gabriel ended the rout when he scored a tidy finish from 10 metres.

Flamengo go to Raulino de Oliveira to face Volta Redonda in the Campeonato Carioca match.​

Very close game that I wished that we would have won easier. Marcelo was ejected from the game which made this game harder than it should have. I was forced to take out Paolo Guerrero after he was arguing with the referee after that red card. But our team did not panic and managed to hold the lead until the end.

Alex scored the only goal of the game after a well timed finish from close range. Marcelo got the automatic red card after a professional foul on Marcio Jonatan.

Flamengo next match will be at home against Madureira in a Campeonato Carioca match.​

I don't understand how for the first 80 minutes of the match we couldn't score. Than suddenly two goals in 1 minute. But whatever, we won and I'm happy about that. With the win are in 3rd place, 2 points behind Vasco for 1st place.

Cesar Martins scored the first goal of the game after a well timed finish from close range. Oscar Romero made it 2-0 just a minute later after a well timed finish from close range.

Flamengo will be the away team as they will face their rivals Fluminense in a Fla-Flu derby.​

It's disappointing when you lose to your rivals. It's even worse when you have a lead and you blow it. Even though we had 60% of the ball possession, we only had 2 shots in the 1st half. We only picked up the pace in the last 15 minutes of the game but it wasn't enough.

Paulinho gave Flamengo the lead after a placed shot from close range. Giovanni scored a freak goal to tie it. Fred gave Fluminense the win after a tidy finish from 13 metres.

Flamengo will host their Clássico dos Milhões rivals Vasco da Gama in a Campeonato Carioca match.​

Atletico Paranaense wins the Primeira Liga

Clube Atlético Paranaense has won the first ever Primeira Liga after defeating Cruzeiro 1-0. This is the first title for the club since 2009 when they won the Campeonato Paranaense.

Atletico Paranaense finished first in Group C with 7 points. When they played in the Knockout stage, they faced Criciuma, where they easily won 3-0. In the final, they met Cruzeiro, where thanks to a goal by Cleo, they won the first Primeira Liga.

Like how we lost to our rival in our previous match, it's the greatest feeling when we beat our biggest rival. It was a physical game as the referee had to book 8 players. With this win, we are one step close to making it to the Knockout Stage of Campeonato Carioca.

March was another OK month as Flamengo went 4-1-1. They finally ended that disastrous Primeira Liga campaign with a win against Coritiba. They also lost to Fluminense in a Fla-Flu derby but defeated our biggest rivals Vasco 2-0. Flamengo ended the month with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Nautico.

This could have been the easiest game that I've ever managed since I became manager. Juan Cazares had a hat trick in 5 minutes. The only complaint was that my team slowed down a bit in the last 20 minutes which resulted in Macae goal. Also with this win, we qualified to the Knockout Stage of Campeonato Carioca.

Talisca scored the first goal of the game after an incisive finish from 13 metres. Talisca made it 2-0 after a placed shot. Paolo Guerrero made it 3-0 after an incisive finish from 11 metres. Juan Cazares made it 4-0 when he scored an accurate finish. Cazares scored his 2nd after taking advantage of Alisson's error to score a placed shot. Cazares got his Hat Trick and made it 6-0 after a close range finish which was timed impeccably. Pirao scored a consolation goal for Macae after taking advantage of Jorge's error to score a finish tucked away with consummate ease.

Flamengo will host Resende in the Campeonato Carioca match.​

As the last match of the Second Stage of Campeonato Carioca, we had an easy game. What surprising is that we finished the Second Stage in first after Vasco failed to win. In the match, though it was an easy game, it was also a physical game as 10 yellow cards were issued.

Emerson Sheik scored the first goal after a simple from close in. Emerson scored his second after a good header from just inside the six yard box.

Flamengo will host Nautico in the 2nd leg of the First Round of Copa do Brasil.​

The Second Stage and Relegation Stage is now complete. The draw for the Championship Playoffs were announced today. Flamengo will face Botafogo in the Semifinals.
