Steven Gerrard - A Managers Story

What a shame. Losing our key player so early on after a couple of bad results will no doubt knock us. We have good squad depth though and I expect us to pick up some form in the next coming days, the league is over already if we dont.

Well I have a lot of things to catch up to don't I... First up congratulations on winning both the Premier League and the F.A. Cup, a very brilliant achievement indeed! Some very interesting transfers there, you spend a lot of money on quality players so your side will be a real force to be reckoned with next year. Tough start with the result against Utd and losing Pogba but I'm confident that this is just a temporary thing and that you'll get back to your winning ways in no time.

Wow!! Pogba! Huge boost for the club!! Well done there!!

Yeah I feel the squad has pretty good depth anyway last season so adding big players to push it forward was something we needed, just a huge shame about Pogba! Hopefully it is temporary and we can kick on and get more good results!

Grats on Pogba.. Shame he didn't stick a few past Utd.

It is indeed, and shame they injured him too!

That's more like it. Hopefully this gives us that confidence boost now and will kick start our season after a poor start. Coutinho is on fire lately and bagged his third of the season from the wing. Sturridge seems to have picked up where he left off last season with a brace too. Pjanic scored the goal of the match though, a stunning free kick in the top corner. Sturridge would have had a hat-trick but the dubious goals panel awarded it as an own goal.

We're now looking forward to the Champions League draw, and we're hoping to get a big group to mark our return to the competition. It's my favourite.

We've signed Adama Traore from Aston Villa for £4 million. However if Traore makes 50 league appearences for us the fee will rise up to £9 million. He's been shipped out on loan to Real Betis and will play the season in the La Liga as a first team regular. I feel he is a great investment for the club. He will either be a good member of the team in years to come, and if not I'm sure we will make money on him. It's a win-win situation.

Here we go again. We've been drawn against Tottenham in the third round of the Capital One Cup. Last season we ended up playing against Spurs a huge 7 times, only losing 1. I'm hoping we have the psychological edge over them, and playiing at home is certainly an advantage.

The Champions League draw has been very kind to us this season. We were a first seeded team after winning the league and I was looking forward for another big team to be with us, no disrespect to the clubs in the group. There is something special about this cup, and with the group we have I think we have a good chance of qualifying for the last 16, the lads will be right up for this!

There is a real feel good factor around the club at the moment. We've tied down big deals for two of our key players and to see Sturridge sign is brilliant news for us as he is in the form of his life right now. Manolas is a real leader at the back too so things are on the up! Sturridge has a foot problem and will be out for 2 weeks, but Ings will be given a chance to step in and I'm confident he will do so this time.

This month hasn't been as bad as it first seemed. We won the Community Shield at the end of July which was a nice day out for the fans but then we struggled to hit form in the league, earning only 1 point from two games. Losing to United hurts me more than anyone else too. We bounced back with a huge win over Blackburn and then a timid win over QPR to see us rise up the table.

We currently sit third in the table, but that can soon change. We need to make sure we get a good run of form and challenge in every game we play now. I'm confident the lads can do that.

A very busy month indeed. We play 7 games in 3 competitions this month. While it is important to win in the other cups, focusing on results in the Premier League is our main objective. I'm confident we will open our Champions League campaign with a win.

Another frustrating evening in the Premier League today. We're now a huge 7 points behind Chelsea already at the top. And we cant afford to keep giving away opportunities to pick up some points. The way we are looking right now, I dont knwo if we can be title contenders this season. We need to pick up our form. We had a slow start last year and then had a big run of wins, so we need to pick that up this season too.

I've seen better wins but we will take it today. We seem to be struggling to play together recently and I can only imagine that's with players having to play out of position to cover, Moreno and Lato are now both back from injury so hopefully we can push Yarmolenko back up the pitch again. Sturridge smashed home two lovely goals today, but we really need to pick it up! We have two home games against Spurs now, one in the Cup and one in the League, we need to win both.

A brilliant win today, we really needed this. Tottenham are a good team so a confidence boost and points were needed. Daniel Sturridge scored the first after stealing the ball from Vertonghen and slotting it past Vorm. We couldnt seem to get the second goal no matter how much we pushed, with Manolas hitting the crossbar.

Yarmolenko scored early into the second half to comfort us more and Moreno returned off the bench which was pleasing to everyone else. Sturridge then finished the game off with a thunderbolt on the edge of the box. There's something about Spurs that we find easy!

Good luck with the cup there Jamie! I am little bit disappointed of Manolas though. I believe that he Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Papastathopoulos are the best defenders that Greece had ever had !

All defenders make mistakes! Manolas is one of the best so its no problem!

Another great game for the fans today. We come against a strong West Ham side who continue to improve and with di Santo on form we struggled at times to keep them quiet. Danny Ings was back in the team as Sturridge suffered a knock in the last game and scored two, hopefully he can continue that form when he plays for us now.

He's had a tough time since I've arrived, his goal draught meant he struggled to get in the squad so hopefully sticking with him for the season was the best option. Unfortunately James Milner was just another player to hit our injury list, as he suffered a hip injury at the end of the first half.

Every cloud has a silver lining though. Milner being out now frees up more playing time for Maia and Allen, who no doubt will not be satisfied with the lack of game time they have received this season.

Our second Champions League game of the group was an away trip to Leverkusen. Having already won our first game we knew that 3 points would be huge, but we will take the draw today. It's been a busy month and with a lot of players out, the lads have done well.

We started really badly, some sloppy passing allowed Leverkusen to get in behind the defence and **** a ball into the area, which Simone Zaza headed in. We had a chance to equalise not long after as Turan was pulled down in the box. He chose to take the penalty but a big save from Leno kept us out.

We would eventually get the goal we needed from not the most obvious goalscorer. Kostas Manolas scored his first goal of the season, and it was a lovely header too.

We will take the draw today, Porto won their match too so its an interesting one two games in.

"
Every cloud has a silver lining though" nice writting touch there my friend !!!

September brought an unbeaten month, and a very impressive one under the circumstances. We had a to battle the busy month with a shorter squad than usual through injuries. To get the results we did shows how this team can fight for each other, and now we have some players coming back from injury I can only see us getting stronger.

We're now third in the league and only 3 points off the top. I'm pleased with that progress this month, and I'm expecting us to get better and better now we have a two week break and a well deserved rest.

View attachment 203483

Next month gives us 3 league games which we should probably win, and a tough match in the Champions League. We also face Sheffield Wednesday in the Cup which will be the second time we travel to their place in a month. We're looking in good shape for the month, and I'm expecting 5 wins.
