Tactics & Training: The " I have a small question " thread

What is the difference with using ball playing defenders and limited defenders compared to using 2 CBs??? Is it all to do with restricting chances or cutting out key balls etc? Please explain.

Thanks

the ball playing defender will move a bit higher up the field trying to get involved in the game, he will try mor through balls and crosses.

the limited defender doesn't have the skills to do anything with the ball, he will just try to give the ball to a teammate as quick as possible.

the standard defender is something in between.

Is there any point in using the the 'new style' tactics (as opposed the 'Classic') if you have ALL PI's and Team Instructions ticked and customised?

Not really, I actually wonder why I still use tactics creator, as I tweak almost every slider in player roles/team instructions. Besides it seems that many of the best tactics are classic tactics.

Im **** at making tactics, ive asked on 2 forum threads for the best one and people wont ******* tell me.

Since you are clearly not sorry for it, dont write it. Never ever again abuse those that are trying to actually help you. I was just going to send you a pm, handing our some really good help but now I have changed my mind.

Hi everyone,
I’m new at the forum but before I registered I usually read many threads around here. Here’s the deal: I’m with Hércules on my fifth season and I want to challenge the title this year.
I won the first game of Liga BBVA, but in the second game I lost against sevilla (2-1 away). I’ve had this problem with my team in other games against big teams when I try to play not in a counter role. I get some print screens of my game against them.
The main problem is that sevilla is pressuring high my players can’t start a move from behind. Other problem is ’how to mark’ attacking midfielders. I have two fullbacks and I switch them to mark the attacking midfielder of his own side, although as you can see on first and second pictures (below) they are able to receive the ball and shoot (Inside my area!).

The other problem has to due with high pressure and how to play against this. The four pictures below show Miranda passing to Kaboré then he sends the ball to Miranda, and as you can see in picture 4, Miranda has no options available to pass and sends the ball outside the pitch.

I played 4-2-3-1 deep and sevilla played 4-2-3-1 normal (with their midfielders in the middle line of the pitch). During the match I tried to reduce ‘run from deep’ of my midfielders and push them down, although it didn’t help. Sorry about my poor English (I’m Portuguese) and thank you for reading and trying to help me.

Just started managing at German third division side 'Koblenz' anybody got any tactics that will help me get these in the first division :)?

Ill tell you my Tactic that ALWAYS works no matter what division or cup,

PM Me and ill write it out.

I wanted to ask you guys a question.I'm playing Red bull salzburg atm and i've started playing in champions league and i want to create a nice counter att tactic.normaly i use a 4-2-3-1 possesion tactic which seems to work pretty well.i wanted to create a counter att tactic that uses wingers and a tall striker.I'm wondering wheter to use a 4-2-1-2-1 with 2 DM and a ball winning MF to distribute balls to the flanks or a 4-1-2-2-1 with 2 CMF and 1 DM.which would work better against stronger, faster and more technical teams?

Also could you give me any pointers on playing a fast counter attacking game down both flanks?
Thanks

I am currently playing with a formation like this

my striker instruction

my amc, the kaka role what i am saying.

i dropped deep my another amx to make my kaka role much more front

Their could be several reason for your AMcs not perform the way you want. It could be the lack of width + slow tempo( him making his moves forward too soon ion the attacks, resulting in him standing still and being marked when the ball finally gets there), a too direct and quick game( the ball being hit over the top of the defenders onto no one etc etc. But if looking at their settings only, i would suggest that you play your FC in a more advanced position so that he both gets closer to the goal as well as drag the opposition our wide, out of position more often. As you flood the midfield, the center of the park where these players operate will be crowded on you own initiative. as you are also playing with a top team, there is a good chance that most opponents play cautious against you, sitting deep with the defence as well as their midfield, all within a narrow approach. This means that the space will be even harder to find in the center of the park.

My suggestions would be the following.

- Either use FC-FC-AMC....or
- Play Wider and use a more advanced FC. Instead of letting the other AMC drop deep, let him create space by play even more attacking, roaming to drift out wide where the space is to be found. I would also give the "kaka" player a higher closing down setting so that he sometimes actually breaks up attacks, instead letting the FC concentrate on the attacking duties only ( low closing down). I would also provide kaka with a free role ( off the ball movement) but with the wide play cut inside ( with the ball movement). This way, will both drift to find space but when with the ball, he will go for goal him self or set up another player making a run into the box.

If you want, you could try one of mine favourite settings, found beneath

The Rioting Hole AMC Link to Setting http://img641.imageshack.us/i/theriotingholeamc.png/

This player lies in the hole between the Forward/s and the Midfield. Although given a free role, he will only roam and find free space in the attacking part of the field and when in possession of the ball, he will instantly cut inside, looking for a pass, a quick cross or have a go at the goal. If playing in a 4411, he will drift wide if the space is to be found their and if the winger has the ball, he will seek space in the box if it’s to be found.

This player can be the absolute key of the tactic, even if it looks like he is having a bad game, not making more then 15 passes through out the game. How is that then? Well, by using his movement, he creates space for the others to move into. With this said, he needs to be mobile and if creative with good decision or passing, this is your top man

Famous Players (in FM11.3) Arshavin ( Arsenal), Silva ( manc ), Lampard ( Chelsea), Gerrard ( liverpool)
Preferred player moves: Moves into channels, cut inside, runs down X flank, gets into opposition area
Key Stats: Decision, Off the ball, Stamina, Anticipation, Creativity, Passing and Finishing

Hi. Can you tell me what formation's i have to use to beat these formation's?

4-4-2 = ?
4-1-4-1 = ?
4-5-1 = ?
4-4-1-1 = ?
4-3-2-1 = ?
4-2-3-1 = ?
3-5-2 = ?
4-3-1-2 = ?

Thank you very much.

I have a few questions :)

1) what is Sergio Aguero's best role out of these two - Poacher or Advanced forward. Has to be out of them because im using JP Woody high scoring tactic 11.2

2) Who would go into the other role that Sergio aguero does not fit into E.G. if Aguero is a poacher who would be a good advanced forward?

how do you deal with out of form players. tevez wont accept criticism
reason not scoring

I was wanting to know what people think of a tactic I am trying! The DMC tracks back to act as a CB when the wingback's support the AMC's. Constructive feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wow you've made some great signing there

I used editor just to see what I could do with this tactic with that team. I replaced Cardiff with Wigan. I am going to try this for 2 seasons tweaking the tactic and then test with blackpool.

seems very attacking, that's for sure. Maybe drag the 2 AMC down to CM as you look quite exposed and if your DM drops back there will be a massive hole in the middle of the park.
