Don't see any Ganso (I know he is Paulo Henrique) there...

Hello!

Can someone please recommend me a good DEFENSIVE tactic to use for games against the big teams, I need a tactic which focuses on not conceding more than scoring, as negative as that may sound...

Cheers

Three questions:

What combination of settings would keep a Target Man from going out Wide if I want him to stay in the middle? Crosses set to Rarely and Wide Play of what? Normal? Cuts Inside so he'll just get back inside if he ever ends up out wide?

Has anyone ever tried running a Sweeper behind a Stopper CB in a typical 4-man defense? Does it work? I'm getting sick of getting burned by wingers and forwards who end up between the CB and FB and go entirely unmarked on a through-ball; drives me nuts.

Difference between Zonal and Man. From what I can tell, it seems Zonal is a less aggressive, less closing down while Man isn't strictly "man-to-man" but more aggressively closing down and marking anyone who comes into your Zone?

Thanks.

One annoying thing is that when trying to emulate barca one thing is actually preventing a little thing, its not a big problem, but in general it is a problem. Gerard Pique has the ppm: Tries longe range passes. And that's not good, and he don't want to unlearn it, he just become angry!!! What can i do about it? Also noticed abidal with the same problem.

Also do you any play who is very similar to messi in terms of attributes and ppm's, mostly ppm's cause can't find anyone. pablo piatti is close, but i was thinking of someone closer than that, and maybe better to play in barca's first team.

Another question: If i buy ashley young as back up or challenger for the amr inside forward position i have, but he isn't like pedro, pedro goes in more with ashley young more likely to cross, so can i get something out of his crossing with messi in amc and david villa at stl. maybe aim at far post for villa, but he isn't the best header, what can i get out of ashley young in my barca team? can he play like pedro, with run into the area and after through balls from xavi, iniesta and messi instead of being more of a winger type.

Oh, so many questions: Does anyone know where i can see fc barcelonas champions league possession stats in every game from the group stages to the final + from league and cup game + xavis passing in more games (i can only find stats from the cl final and the matches against arsenal)

My goalkeepers long kicks often gets headed back by the opponents midfielders which creates a one on one-opportunity for one of their strikers. How can I prevent that? I've already set my goalies distribution to "Quick Throw" to my left back. I hesitate to set his passing to short because his passing skills are so poor.

If I put an arrow from MC's position to AMS's one does it mean that my MC should be good at AMC as well as MC? What is the difference between MC with arrow to AMC and AMC with arrow to MC?

The arrows are just à presentation of the run from deep setting. Often is à forward arrow, rarely à backward arrow and mixed means no arrow at all. So you see , this does not mean that they Will rum into the amc position, only the players tendency to go forward

i was wondering if it was better to have older, more experienced players taking penalties in a shootout even if a younger player has a better penalty rating?

I've been knocked out of 3 semi finals on penalties and all my players missed, yet in regular matches all my penalties have been scored.
pick players that have good decisions and composure stats too. I think they are primary stats and penalty rating is secondary for them. Usually older players have better decisions and composure so pick them.

hi there. new player here (one year old i'd say :) )
so, been reading most forums and blogs on fm but i got one question.
i usually sign my players after an report or an search by position+value and report. so for every player i check the stats graph in the information tab. (defending, speed, creativity, tehnical and so on.)
i know what stat is increased by every training category , but my questions is this:
what stats make modification on the graph stats? (like attacking is increased by finishing, composure, long shots...)

thanks.
any ideas ?!

hello guys,
playing bayern munich 2014 pre season, my youth coach decides to accept a role at hoffenheim. no biggie I signed the second best youth coach (as per my filter) from liverpool. 5-6 games into the new season my youths seem to get injured, but like all of them. every day there's a new email with injury news. Some of them only 8-10 days long other 6-8 weeks. But in the time of 2 weeks at least 15 of youth palyers got injured. I'm sure I just didn't think of something and the solution for you hardcore FMers is straightforward. I appreciate your responses. kthx. Davoon

Currently testing some tactics that I'm using depending on the opponents formation.
Just wondering if there is a way to get my Scout to tell me what formation they are likely to use before the game - this does happen sometimes but only in some games.

Creating my first tactic (usually rely on others) and could do with bit of help.

I am playing as Wolves first season, really want to play nice attractive football, rather than kick and run and get the ball down on the floor, in defeat. Would much rather set up in an ambitious way, blend players into the tactic knowing I can go on to improve the quality of the squad. I line up like this -

Philiosophy - Fluid
Stategy - Control
Passing Style - Short
Creative Freedom - More Expressive
Closing Down - Stand Off
Tackling - Default
Marking - Zonal
Crossing - Default
Roaming - More Roaming

Set up player positions like this -

GK : Goalkeeper (Defend)
RB : Wing Back (Auto)
CB : Centre Back (Defend)
CB : Centre Back (Defend)
LB : Wing Back (Auto)
DM : Defensive Midfielder (Defend)
CM : Deep Lying Playmaker (Support)
CM : Central Midfielder (Auto)
RW : Inside Forward (Attack)
LW : Inside Forward (Attack)
CF : Advanced Forward (Attack)

No advanced instructions other than having the two wide men switch positions. So far it is ok, I have won stoke at home 3-0, but lost to Everton away 5-2 but then beat Newcastle 4-1. It plays well and looks fairly exciting and attractive as I planned despite the Everton loss. However that was away so maybe I could do with coming up with an away version? Is there anything in this tactic which looks odd? Or a certain instruction misused?

Really hoping some of the tactical gurus on here can help out and point me in the right direction to any modifications.

Cheers.

Assing your scout to "scout next opposition". You can do that by going to scouting section.

That looks pretty good, at least if you have correct players. Maybe you should set our central midfielder to attack duty? Or advanced playmaker on support? Depending on what kind of player you have though.

For tough games and to most away games, I would use standard instead of control, it is less attacking approach, but if you play with Wolves you simply can't dominate every game, so little more defensive approach should work better sometimes. Of course, if it seems that you are better side, you can change it to control later in the game. Also in games like this I would use fullbacks on support or even defensive duty instead of wingbacks, just to make sure that you don't get hit on the break.

Cheers for the reply pal.

Standard could work yeah, would you make any changes to the framework other than that though?
I was actually using attack on the central midfielder, but i decided to make it auto just to give him a slightly more defensive responsibility. At times (O'Hara) would basically act as a second striker, and with the two advanced wingers it left me too exposed.

My best penalty taker had been missing penalty kicks at a ridiculous rate. And those that he made seems to be very stoppable but went in somehow. He used to score a lot from penalties until this season. What should I do?

Make him practise penalties! Also, what is his decision and composure stats? Not that this should make a difference if he was banging them in before.
