***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

just a word about players (from my third season)

Erick Torres (Mexico) is a monster in AMC
Lacazette (French) clearly very good in AML
M'Vila in MC... really good player
Mattia Perin, GK, Wonderful

when my third season is over, I'd make a summary of these three years.
just to prove that with a little common sense, a good tactic ... everything is possible

Small Tweak:

The only
small tweak I have made to the tactic in my save is the AM-Winger
-
Free role
- Mentality = about 15 nothes i.em attacking. Here, he will look
for space inside the box more often

what does Mentality = about 15 nothes i.em attacking mean lol?

If means his mentality should be set to attacking, around the 15th notch on the mentality slider and that it does not matter if one sets it to 14 or 16.

spot on, and does one know wether "free role" now is described as "roam from position?

Well simply put this tactic has been absolutely incredible. Here' the final outcome for the first season in charge of Everton:
I stuck with that formation since game 10, and the change was terrific. Yes, there were also some flukey results courtesy of flukey shots or an o.g here and there, and slip ups by other teams, but either way, even if I hadn't have won a trophy or the PL title, I'd have said it still was a very successful tactical template (I gave the players my own instructions).

So technically.......credit should go to TBH for winning me the double lol

Was a rocky road though. didn't realise how poor some players fitness (I.E Jelavic) were and were getting injured in match on a regular basis, and in some cases we were pretty crippled in some areas. And not to mention the clubs further down the table were putting up some very tough resistance-though some fouled on purpose quite often just to break up my attacking strategy. But most importantly the man management side I had to be very, very careful with what I said. The title-winning match at Goodison all the players had the Very Nervous statement and things were falling apart strategy wise. Was quite a job keeping them composed and calm.

The best part though was the development of Ross Barkley. Had Phill Neville and Leon Osman and exposure to regular first team football-and his development accelarated big time and he's scored some vital goals. If ever proof was needed that the latest patch has made major corrections this is it. Combined with this template and the instructions it's pretty bang on. Roll on the next season!

Just a shame that even though there's been a major cash windfall for the club (including a boost of over £5.5 million in 1 month) because of tv rights, final position etc....I still have no money at all (big fat £0) to buy any players and the wage budget is still over. Just like IRL....every single penny has gone to the bank :@ Meh!!!

Normally I am a bit of a lurker on these forums! However I could not help but comment on what a great tactic this is!

To start, I read through the posts to understand the type of players/team I should look at starting a new game with. I always wanted to try the Serie A so had a look through the teams. Always loved bringing an old powerhouse back to the glory days, so I chose Sampdoria. They have some great history in the Serie A, but most importantly they had the stats I was looking for with high ratings in work rate, teamwork and determination etc.

So after my first season were did I finish! (Media Prediction: 14th and Board wanted me to avoid relegation)

3rd and qualified for the Champions League!

Highlight results was my last win over Napoli on the final game of the Season to clinch 3rd!

Onto the tactic

This tactic does exactly as you explain. It was putting pressuring on the opposition across the pitch, and forcing them into mistakes, this lead to passing around them as we work our way forward. The way the players are positioned means there is always someone for an easy pass. My favorite part of the tactic was if one build up play was not working down the left, we would then switch to the other side and attack them down the right, always dragging opposition players out of position and creating a lot of CC's. One surprise was also how much possession I was having against teams. Sometimes ending the first half with over 70% possession. The last thing I love about this tactic is how good at the back it is! I much prefer grinding out results with clean sheets then winning with high-scoring games. I went into every game knowing that if I can score one goal then we had a chance of winning as we were so good defensively.

Players

For once I found myself looking harder at the players I was looking to buy. Due to wanting to be a complete team instead of a team of individuals, I was always looking for high mental stats and for once made sure that there would not be a language barrier which made a huge difference!

My most important positions were the striker and the RB. (I used the mirrored version) My RB ended the season with 10 assists! So many goals came from my AMR passing it back to the RB and him whipping a cross into the mixer for the striker to finish. Due to this I made sure my striker was a big bully who would not stop working for the team and Maxi Lopez was the perfect player! He had countless headed goals and many assists from headed passes to the on running AMC to finish (Arrive late in box for AMC is a brilliant PPM to learn for this)

All in all this is such a good tactic and has made me enjoy FM so much! Instead of downloading a usual "cheat tactic" this one has provided me with a perfect template to build from and as a result have never had so much fun in a save!

Sorry I have rambled a bit but I just wanted to say how much of a great tactic this is and give it the recognition it deserves! (not that it does not already have loads:P)

So thank you TBH!

If anyone has any questions or wants any advice from my experience with this tactic, then I would be happy to help :D

Hey TBH,

Do you have a 4-2-3-1 tactic I could use?

Hola!

I've got a question for y'all out there. This has been - by far - my favorite tactic of FM13 thus far. I've had some absolutely amazing results with teams from different leagues and quality. That said, this last patch has really gotten in my way.

The best part about the tactic used to be the amount of chances and CCC's it used to create. Lately, however, that's my biggest problem. A little background - I'm playing with a very strong Arsenal side with players and preferred moves that ought to be a perfect fit but I'm simply not performing anywhere close to what I'm used to with this tactic. I have maximum fluidity, training on team cohesion and good morale. I'm just not creating any chances and often lost the possession battle. The great link-up play is long-gone compared to previous patches and I'm a little stumped and just wanted to see if anyone else had noticed a significant difference. As I said, I have a strong team, and have performed much better with worse teams using the same tactic. I've played roughly 50 games and it's still not clicking. Also, in comparison to previous patches, I'm letting in a lot more goals. The defense often gets spread thin and simple through balls are deadly.

As I said, I don't want to be a downer or anything, I've literally loved this tactic, I'm just a little puzzled. Let me know if you've noticed anything similar.

cheers
