***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

How about releasing the tactic, then update the thread. ;)
I'm saving you a spot for the ROUND 14.

Sorry but can't be done. Like I wrote earlier, I am away from home and won't get back until Wednesday so it's impossible for me to upload it earlier.

Regardless, in my experience releasing something without any instructions is never a good idea.

Ok so I finished my 1st season with Newcastle - Won Premier League with record number of points, Cisse top goalscorer ( a pure monster ) and all time record scorer for Newcastle :) - Won EuroCup against Bilbao - So I just want to say I used this tactic from the beginning till the end and it worked wonderfull - including now with the patch after I adjusted the Attacking mentality and Free Role to the AML - but enough talk , I will just show you the pictures :)

Do you think a player like Michu would work well as an AMC? Someone with raw finishing ability rather than amazing creativity?

Also, I've got a few games to go yet, but I'm 2nd in the league with Southampton, closing in on Man Utd though :)
Will post some of my best results and the league table when the season's done - had some awesome results :D

I think Michu would work really well for you at AMC. I think tbh it also depends on your striker. You're looking to partner the AMC with STC so if your striker likes to be more of the creator then the AMC should be more of a presence in the box.

I always look for a Trequartista / Shadow Striker for the AMC role. I had Gerrard until he retired and he was a beast in the role. Now I have Wilshere and at 23 he is still very much trainable. I have him on heavy finishing training to try and boost his finishing attribute. Because it's already on 13 I won't bother position train him to FC but if it was lower I would've contemplated it.

I do have a regen Portugese player I bought this season who is potentially a great AMC (he reminds me of Deco) but his finishing is very poor so at the moment I have him on high finishing training and re-train to FC so his attributes become more spread as an AMC and FC rather then just AMC. At 16 I have high hopes he'll do this very well although he complained about doing to much work in training, after I told him to buck up his ideas, he's now more happy to do so.

RE: Wilshere, it is unlikely it will rise above 13 now. I have him in the 5th season, following 2 seasons of almost solid heavy finishing training and it hasn't budged.

Seing that some users are still getting good results with the uploaded tactics, have you in any way adapted to the way that the team now reacts to the team talks ( it's no longer possible to just use " I have faith ") ?

For those struggling, how are you managing the team talks etc ?

A lad who tested one of my tactics to great effect gave me these set of team talks

All team talks done on assertive

Easy home games - Expect to win
Tough home/away games - For the fans
Lesser opposition away - Relax - Expect to win

Half time if winning - Doing well keep it up
Drawing against lesser opposition - Far from pleased
Drawing against same/better opposition - For the fans , Keep it up

Post match if won - Very pleased , Similar
If drawn, lost against lesser opposition - Not happy
(for away and home and use it at home against good opposition)
If drawn, lost against similar/better opposition away - Unlucky

Worked wonders for me, on numerous tactics.

New updated tactic from TBH tomorrow and the announce of the PS4! **** that i'm working 11am till 10pm!!!!!

Going to start up a new game with Dortmund using the updated tactic, should suit them well.

Excellent Tactic

Right so here is my story,

Currently I'm playing with a custom database called Reformed Scottish Leagues which has 13 leagues 16 teams plus in each.

I started using this tactic about halfway through my first season and ended up finishing 3rd in SPL and won the Scottish Cup and League Cup.

In the league I:

Won - 13, Drew -11, Lost - 6, Scored - 51 and Conceded - 30 (Finished 3rd - 50 points and qualified for Uefa Cup)

Currently in my Second Season

League:

Won - 6, Drew - 0, Lost 0, Scored - 17 and Conceded - 5 (Sitting in 1st place)

Uefa Cup: (W stands for win if you can't guess)

DFC v OB - Third Qualifier 1st leg - 4-1(W)

OB v DFC - Third Qualifier 2nd leg - 3-0(W)

Lech v DFC - Playoff 1st - 4-3(W)

DFC v Lech - Playoff 2nd - 1-0(W)

Through to Group stages (drawn with Levante, Wolfsburg and Dynamo Kyiv)

DFC v Levante - 3-0(W)
Wolfsburg v DFC - 2-0(W)
Dynamo Kyiv v DFC - 1-2(L)

Current team:

GK - Craig Gordon
DR - Thomas Peirmayr
DC - Paul Hanlon
DC - Jim O'Donnell (accidently started off with add players to team setting on basically a first season regen)
DL - Brian Easton
MR - David Wotherspoon
MC - Liam Kelly
AMC - Gary Harkins
AML - James McFadden
ST - Shane Sutherland

Not tweaked anything from original tactic.

Due to the increased prize money in the custom database, money was more easily available after a successful first season.

14 - Players bought - £8M - Highest fee - Liam Kelly - £2M

16 - Players sold - £300k - Highest fee received - John Baird - £65k

Massive squad revamp was needed for second season :P Only one player from first season makes my starting line up in second season.

My Current Win Percentage - 70%

First post updated with the new versions.

The main tweaks have been ( meaning that these are already in the tactic, nothing that you should tweak)

- Reduced Closing down ( to suit the fact that now players actually close down the opponents)
- Lowered D-line ( to work in conjunction with the Closing Down)
- NO offside trap ( as we play with a normal d-line)
- The DMC playing more direct ( to suit the fact that players now take runs into channels)

The Better Half´s SPLIT 433/343**Patch 13.2.3 ***

Asymmetric 433/343

Here is a little project that is a simple Plug & play Tactic. Attached you will find 2 Tactics. One called TBH SPLIT 433 MR version and this is the one described in the post. The other one is called "ML" version and is the mirror of the first one. If you use the "Mirrored", then the flow and the roles will be the other way around

You dont "switch" between the tactics other than to suit your actuall squad and the settings are exactly

spurs433.png

SHOUTS

Dont use them. As most of the settings have been tweaked, the shouts and chnage of strategy will either have no effect or will only effect half of whats intended, meaning that the tactic will be disrupted.

THE FLOW

Left side
Here, the buildup consists in a WBleft and a DMCleft and an advanced Forward that comes deep to link up with play and the Central FC sitting deeper " in the hole". As the DMC plays a more direct game, he often put balls into channels down the flanks for our FCleft and our Wingback.

Right side.
Here, we have a holding MC that plays t-balls into channels down the flanks onto our Winger providing width. The FCright is playing as an advanced FC with the support of an deeper FCcenter that is dragging one of the Central Defenders out of position The fullback is one that stays back and acts both cover and an easy passing option for the MC and the winger

Both sides put together
By using this split formation, we give ourselves the opportunity to have many dimension in our build up. We can play a direct ball onto our FCs, we can play a possession based approach and drag the opponents on to us by using triangles in midfield. We have the width with our MR and left Wingback . We have crosses from both left and right and we have people taking runs from both the left, right and the center

If the opponents sit deep, the right side is more likely to be able to drag the opponent onto us and if they play aggressive and push up, then the left side can easily retain possession in an advanced position whilst still having cover by the DMC if losing the ball.

Naturally, the flow of the game will depend on the quality and preferred moves of your players but regardless of opponent, it gives you the chance to dominate the area of the pitch where you beat them in quality using this multi dimension approach.

In short, it’s a good approach if wanting to stretch the opponent sideways and be able to overload every area of the field

MATCH PREP
I tend to use Defensive positioning when playing counter attack( as in this tactic)
but if the opponents have scored many goals from corners, or If I see our best
chance from these, I go with Set Pieces ( defensive,
attacking)

SET PIECES
Have not been touched. Here, you will have to set them up to suit your players

TRAINING
It would highly depend on the players but the
stats posted in the OP are those that I find important for the roles. Along with
those, I use the Standard setup.

TRAINING YOUNG PLAYERS WITH POTENTIAL

Here, its all about making the best out of the player as well as fiting him into your team. After all, it does not matter how bnig his potential is and how well he trains if he does not get any matches due to not being the correct playertype
  • Look at the player at a young age to evaluate if he could be used in a different position instead. Here, I only look at the stats, not ppms. If it looks like he is on the right patch, we keep this in mind to
  • Train the player in an individuall schedule like Mid, winger, advanced FC etc to get him more complete in the basics on being a Defender, Mid or attacker
  • Then, if he keeps developing and are ready for the first team/ some subs, I consider re-training him in a different position
  • Then, after this is done and he is ready for more action, I play him in his (new)position and train him in a specialaist role
  • Then, I look at what ppms that can make him use his strengths even better whilst still being good for the tactic
  • Then, I let him train a specific stat. Either one that is undermining his ability or one where he has the chnace to get it up to between 19-20

GETTING MANY CARDS ?

If you see that a player with a yellow card has been playing poorly and getting out of his defensive position, then tell him to be mire careful in the 2nd half. If you see a player un the verge of getting his 2nd yellow, then dont be afraid to sub him, especially if he is " aggressive or frustrated" . As for red cards, always tell them in the team talk that you did not like it and fine him with 1 weeks pay. This is a pretty good way of stopping a floodgate scenario.

OPPOSITION INSTRUCTIONS
I have NOT used any at all....but..
...in the past, I have mainly used these, regardless of tactic

Single FC without AMC support – Close Down/Always

Nervous and Anxious Players – Hard Tackling, Show into weak foot

Elegant DLPlaymaker – Tight Mark, Close Down and Weaker Foot

PLAYING WITH 10 MEN

Here, we sub the FCleft and put the new player into the position of the player sent off. We put the FCright into the FCcenter spot and we Drop the FCcenter onto the AMcleft position, just like in the screen
spurs433tenmen.png

PLAYERS

Below, you see the description of the players along with some screens of the
recommended stats. Whilst these players are not set exactly to these roles, its
the closest in stats I can come when loading up screenshots. So look in the
description to see what kind of player to use and look in the screens for
important stats

The Balanced and determined squad

You don't need quality players to use this approach. What you do need is a balanced squad.
Enough players that have the stamina to use this high press system, players with
team and work rate, some quick players, enough " tall" players so you avoid
conceding too many set pieces etc etc. All in all, a TEAM, not just a group of
players. As in all Teams, you need players that want to win, players that are up
for the challenge and can pull themselves together when the going gets tough and
players that can handle the pressure of suddenly being a favorite. If you
combine all this, then you can win the Champions League with players of a much

lesser "quality" and " rating" then Barca etc. Naturally you can still get good
results without these traits but to win the CL, its crucial

If anyone has some players that have been working superbly in any of these"roles", please tell me and I will make a list in the Opening post under every position

FORWARD LEFT

In his settings, he will act like a Advanced FC. If he likes to move into channels and play one-twos, then the latter will bring one more dimension to the flow. When playing with underdogs and are more likely to launch quick counter attacks, an quick goalscorer is best used but when playing middle teams and top teams, then a more complete player that likes to link up with play is better used.
PPMs: Comes deep to get ball, Plays one-twos, Moves into channels

FORWARD CENTRAL

Here, we have a Deeplying Supporting FC. If you have a Trequartista, this is where he plays

FORWARD RIGHT
Advanced FC. If he likes to move into channels and play one-twos, then the latter will bring one more dimension to the flow.
PPMs: Plays one-twos, Moves into channels

__________________________________________________________________________________

MR
Here we have the classic English Winger. He hugs the touchline and makes crosses as qwell as getting into the area when the ball is on the other flank. As we play a rather fluid approach, a player like Seb Larsson, Milner etc is better used than Nasri. In short, a B2B winger
PPMS: Runs with ball down flank, knock ball past opponent, arrives late inside the area.

MC
This player acts like a Deep Lying Playmaker on support and the more complete he is in his role, being able to use his flair and creativity as well as breaking up attacks, the better it is.
PPMS: Try killer balls, comes deep to get the ball, dictates tempo

DMC
As written earlier, he is a more complete DMC/MC, like a box2box starting from the DMC position. He needs to be able to cover large areas running up and down the field so stamina is a must. Otherwise, you will see him having 60 % condition before the game is at end
PPMS: Nothing special. Just make sure he IS NOT acting like a DPL, NOT having dwells on ball, dictates tempo etc.

__________________________________________________________________________________

FB-Right
This player is set to be really defensive so he should NOT have attacking PPMs. As he holds up the ball, he needs good decision and concentration
PPMS: Nothing special

WBL
The more attacking fullback. He needs to be able to beat his man and make a cross, as well as get back into position after losing out in possession
PPMS: Runs down the left flank, switches flank, knocks ball past opponent

DC
Here, its all about getting as good defenders as possible
PPMS: Nothing special

Having best season to date, using original tactic with slight tweak to mentality of AML and a few PPM-orientated sliders of attacking players and it's probably down to team-talks.

Before: (Assr) For the Fans
H/T Lose: (Assr) No Pressure
H/T Draw: (Assr) For the fans
H/T Win by 2+ goals: (Assr) Pleased
F/T Draw/Loss: (Assr) Disappointed
F/T Win: (Assr) Well Done

I am finding that when managing strong players mentally, being assertive that you want them to play well does seem to influence the quality of their decisions etc. Being more cautious and supportive seems to make them more careless and have less motivation to play well and please you. Media is all handled by A/M (Mauro Tassotti) and players only spoken to when form is exceptional.
