***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Another tip that I feel is needed ( reading the pms to me, it IS needed)

Dont be lazy, dont let the assistant manager pick the team for you on match day,..please !!
He will simply use the players that fits the role the best without thinking about the balance in the team. And as many of the settings in my tactics have been changed, the roles are not what he think they are anyway

When using a Formation with a sweeper, its really crucial to pick the team your self as he might put a FC in that position.

Hi TBH (after a while), please suggest any teams (no matter the league or favourite/underdog) you would think it's nice to try with The Gyroscope? Maybe even with newest update it would be most interesting, I guess.

To make it interesting and not too easy, then why not go with Palace(13/14),Aston Villa (13/14) or any random bottom team in Serie B. This has become my favourite approach by far and it really works as long as you have a squad with the correct players, by position , not quality :)

I like the look of the Gyroscope, may give that a go with my Seattle Sounders team soon!

Been using the Gyroscope with Seattle Sounders:

GK - Gspurning
SW - Rivas
DC - Hurtado
DC - Gallas
DLP - Joseph
DM - Alonso
MR - Rosales
ML - Zakuani
TQ - Stankovic
AM - Dempsey
CF - Martins

That would be my best line up, though had a few injuries! Its early days and not fully fluid, but 7 wins and 1 loss so far. Not many clean sheets, but my team was leaking goals no matter what tactics I used. Loving the possession, get 60-70% a game. With the right signings this could become a great tactic with this team.

Will keep you updated, but enjoying so far :)

I agree. I'm playing in a career mode using Blackburn. The Gyroscope tactic is great for me with high possession and not allowing shots on goal.

Great work as usual TBH.

Great ! Dont be afraid to upload some screens.

the gyrsocope with the 3 FC tweak is the best tactic I ever used in my longterm save. more possession than opponents nearly all matches. 4th in world cup with scotland. quarter-final in european championship. the last seasons I used it with my current chilean club nublense I raised from 2nd league: won copa libertadores, league, national cup, copa sudamericana and club world cupView attachment 473502View attachment 473501View attachment 473500View attachment 473499

Well done, those results are pure class !!

The Hook

Here is a Tactic that focuses the play using triangles, trying to stretch the opponent and dragging them onto up until we finnaly get them on the hook.

The key is to outnumber and overload every single area the ball is in when in possession, hence the DMC is more pushed up and the AMCr pushes up along with the playmaker being more attacking. The Strategy is a counter one but dont be fooled by it. If having players with good decision, then you will be surprised about the amount of possession we are able to hold. Out wide, our wingbacks provides a passing option

Can I a different formation upfront?

I have tested this late in games and it has been working well. Here, I have basically done the following. The only setting you need to change is the wide play as shown in the screen. Apart from that, just move the player and make sure the role is as in the screen

The Result
As this is a tweak of my other tactics (here, The Gyroscope), I have tested this with various teams and the flow has been the same as with that approach. At this point, I don’t really need to play more than 10-15 matches with a tactic to see if its working

The Players
looking at the player roles, some of the sliders have been tweaked slightly but the needed stats are still the exact ones highlighted for the different roles

Looking at the Screenshot of the formation or in the tactic, you see that we use…

Ballplaying DC – Change to Limited If he is ****
DC Cover - Nothing Fancy here
Wingbacks – As they cover the flanks, they need to be up for it.
DMC/support – Hardworking and gets forward
MC - DLP/defend – The same here, he needs to be a team player
Adv PLM/support – Your main playmaker

AMCr – Inside FC on attack, like a false 10

FCcenter – Your most Complete FC, linking up with play like a false 9, not playing on the shoulder of the last defender
FCleft – Supporting FC that moves between the lines and stretches the defense sideways, no matter if tweaking the formation

Just remember what makes winning team. You need some players being able to break the pattern, you need DMcs that are both able to break up attacks and launch a counter attack as well as holding on to the ball, dragging the opponents onto the them – up in the field - without losing it in a dangerous area.

Apart from the key aspects of having a determined squad with hardworking players in the back “6”, don’t neglect the most important stat, namely DECISION. Surely, you can get away with lots of players having 8-12 here, but in the end, you need to get players with much a much higher stat to win the CL.

Looking at the most important with the ball stats, it would be something in the lines of (i.e., not the whole truth). If having a player that sees a lot off the ball, then these stats are really important

Technique – What he can actually pull of
Creativity – The options he sees
Decision – What of those options he chooses
Skill stat (Dribbling, passing etc.) – How well he performs the action

Looking at players off the ball when attacking. If having a player that moves into channels, trying to open up space etc., these are even more important

Anticipation - How well he reads the game, think will happen
Decision- What he thinks he should do
Off the Ball - His ability to use the above to be in the right place in the right time

Looking at the off the ball Defending. If having players denying space, cutting angels, trying to push players wide etc., then they are even more important

Anticipation – How well he reads the game, think will happen
Decision – What he thinks he should do
Positioning – His ability to use the above to be in the right place in the right time
Skills (marking. Tackling etc.) – How well he actually performs the action

Now, if you have players that have a really important stat that undermines the other stats, then you will see him struggle in certain situations

Shouts
As the team sliders have been tweaked, they won’t have the intended effect so stay away from them

Playmaker
Yes, The MCR ( Advanced Playmaker)

Target Man
None but in theory, you could use any of the FCs

Match Prep & Training
Has nothing to do with the tactic itself and you have to use the one that suits your team.

First match of the season using The Gyroscope
Now, whilst this is with my top team Forest, I have sold 7 of my best players this season, just to freshen up the save a bit. Looking at the squad, I would say still are top 3-7 in terms of quality, but not nearly as good as in previous seasons

Stats after 23 minutes

Stats at Full time
After scoring 3-0, I reverted to the more Cautious version and monitored the passing stats of Man U, making sure that their best players did not get too much time on the ball.

2nd match of the season using The Gyroscope
Having most of my AMC out injuried, I went for the FC-FC-AMC tweak mentioned

Hey there TBH,

Loving the Gyroscope so far with my Sounders team. Helped me win the MLS title and the NACL. Really impressed with the triangles and angles all over the pitch, wonderful to watch.

Would you say that this new ''Hook'' tactic is just a more attacking version of the Gyroscope? Will give it a go, as I now have Saviola and Martins to play up front.

Its not more attacking as such, its just an approach using a different formation. In the end, one should use the one that gets the best out of the squad... but...The Gyro is more probing and stable and the Hook is more risky if having poor wingbacks or slow Dcs

Now that I've built a squad to suit the Gyro, the results, style of play etc have been great. Fortunately my 1st choice M R/L are also wing backs. However with the amount of injuries / players out on int. duty it would be good to have another approach. Will give the Hook a try in my upcoming US Cup Match.
