Well I knew the fixtures against the top teams were going to be difficult but.....:(

Lost 2-0 to Reading, lost my ****** temper and deleted the file. Start again.

Just read your post for a fella wanting help with his defence, In my deleted boro save I had marking set to Zonal and drill crosses, would this have an effect on my results ? I'm sorry to say but I'm getting well cheesed off with this version of FM.

Haha. You have the patience of à two year old :) Unless actually having really good defenders and à World Class attacker , the first season is all à out surviving.

What I mean by reliant on individual brilliance is over-reliant on individual brilliance. For example in my PSG save I beat a Danish team (OB) 12-0 on aggregate, but got absolutely nothing in Ligue 1 (i.e. against opponents I wasn't head and shoulders above). There doesn't seem to be any way through other than hope the other team makes a mistake.

I've decided to further experiment with the 4-2-4 and 4-4-2 with Juventus. First game against Udinese was awful. They got a straight red 20 minutes in and we still lost 2-0. Outshot 14-5, no CCCs. The AML and AMR stay too high up the field - while this may result in the occasional counter, playing as a broken team with four players too far from the midfield to receive the ball easily and only six defending is simply a bad idea. Tried the United 4-4-2 tactic at home, lead to a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Chievo! Lost 4-0 away to Roma. The only plus side I've found so far is that I got to play against Taddei, who missed a few CCCs against me hehe.

My expectations are not too high, I would just like to think Juventus is capable of getting one point from their opening three Serie A matches when playing near full strength (Vucinic missed the Udinese game, Pirlo the Roma match).

TheBetterHalf- I downloaded your tactic italian project and its really god .... in 15 games conceed only four goals I play with Napoli it's my 6 season but I want you to ask what tweak should I will use when I go away against big teams? how to more defend any advice?

Agree. In this case, they are not
. I cant say that I have had the same resuts though and I have played with Juve( not the same schedule though). How did your preseason go ?. Did the team look like they could handle the formation or where you struggling then to ? What version did you use to start with and what forwards did you use. As my result with Man U, Chelsea, Ajax, Juventus, Bayern M, and Benfica have been really really good using the deep 4222, we must be doing something differently.

As for the flat 442, I have not tried that one with Juve but it should work just as well in theory

Thats great. What you do is the following. As you say yuo have downloaded it, I assume that you mean the balanced approach where I have implemented the shouts to make it easier for the Tactic evaluation thread. Have a look at the Narrow Italien approach and do the same with the Quick Counter version

Now,load those 2 tweaked versions up in the match prep as the backup tactics so that the team gets fluid WITH the actual appraoches you play and not only the core default tactics

As for the normal tactic, then start by loading a new formation( the 4312) and set up the Control approach. Then setup all the different shouts and save them as 4 differenet group shouts.

Then you just change the strategy and shouts depending on the situation,( always keeping the 2 twekaed tactics as backup tactics)

Personally, I tend to start with the Balanced appróach ( and as always with the shouts inplemented pre-kickoff). Then I react to what I see on the pitch, sometimes, hitting them on the counter in quick attacks or sometimes playing a more cautious counter approach

Very satisfied with number of goal against.

I have mainly using:
Home - Attacking, after half time if i'm winning or after 2 goals up, changed to Direct Counter
Away (me favourites, teams that are not top teams in England) - Balanced, after half time if i'm winning or after 2 goals up, changed to Direct Counter
Away (vs top teams) - Cautious Counter

Many draws away vs middle teams using balanced approach... i tried starting the game with direct counter in these matches, no luck.. Simply, home i dominating and playing much better than away..

Any advice TBH?

And p.s., really great system, congrats mate!

Hi TheBetterHalf,
Can you tell me what approach are you using with Leeds ?
Many thanks :D

Hi TheBetterHalf,

I have started a save with Leeds United and initially, this have been the settings I have used.

Core settings

This is not going to be easy. Leeds have a media prediction of 3rd and the board wants us to get promoted but the team are not really up for it. I would say that there are at leat 10 teams that are much better then us when taking into account defensive skills, attacking skill, creativity and most importantly squad depth. SO, I have setted for a counter attack approach. The teams just not good enough to break down deep sitting ooponents of equal quality. If getting promoted, an almost brand new teams is needed though :D

Formation:
Wide 4231
Strategy etc: Balanced - Counter.... All settings on default but Press that is set to Press more

Players:

Fullbacks: Automatic
Dcs: Defend

MC 1 - DPL on defend
MC2 - CM support

AM: ATM on support
Wingers: Inside forward on support and switch to Winger attack when facing really defensive team and using Overlaps
FC: Poacher

Shouts

Initially, I either play a quick counter game or try to play with more width, keeping possession.

Quick and Agressive:

Push up
Play Narrow

...This makes or more compact

get ball forward
pass into space
Eploit flanks
... makes us play more direct and with more t-balls, using more of the width and letting our wide players be more attakcing whilst the central hold on to the ball

Hassle

...Agression

Wider and more patient

Play out of defence
Pass to feet
Retain possession

...lets us play more narrow( neutralised later), slower and keeping a much shorter passing game and reduces t-balls

Play Wider
...lets us play down the flanks
