***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

I've just started my 2nd season using the deep 442 but the away form isn't great, any ideas on how to improve the tactic for away days?

Need a bit of help with my tactic.

My current line-up and tactic :

Now, with that sort of squad i should easily be challenging for the title right? Well no... not exactly heres the screenshots of the 2 seasons so far at liverpool

First season i came close , but not close enough. Second season was a disaster...

Heres afew screenshots of results that i should of been winning

I want to fix my tactic, i've tried. I don't want to take someone elses tactic because i want to learn how to cope on my own, so TBH can you help me in any way?

No problem although I would need you to upload the tactic for me, that is unless the team instructions are the only one you have tweaked. At first glance though, I would say that your style of play is not one of a top team. You play a narrow formation and within this formation, you have told the players to play narrow , not using the space. When doing this and also focusing the play through the middle, it will simply be too crowded . This results in longshots , blocked shots, shots from poor angels , very few key passes and no opening runs. Does this feel familiar ? ;)

The formation it self is one that whilst working great in Italy, England is perhaps one of the countries where it struggles due to the opponents likelihood of using the flanks for quick breaks, the English style.

lower press, I thought it'd be better to try and keep positioning when defending

Perhaps consider using the higher press . Have a look at how the opponent is playing( best viewed in 2d, full pitch). Where is their d-line, do they play on the counter etc.

Yeah they're the only things i've tweeked. Sounds really familiar so far , i'll try and work on it.
i'm in a rush for school but i'll upload it and let you download it later today?

Here you go TBH , just incase you need it anyways.
Thanks for the help.

Hello. Thanks for helping me with this!

I would like to make a 4231 tactic for united in light of the news that Kagawa is on his way to the club. Ideally, I want to make a plug and play tactic to use in all situations- with perhaps the option of one or to tweaks to use against big teams away from home.

My Players

The standard team with the addition of Kagawa, Eriksen, Cissokho, Bender, Giuseppe Prestia and Roderick Miranda.

Initial Ideas

I want to try and blend the counter attack of Madrid this season, with the calm and collected possession play of Man United.
- I like my full backs to play more like ramos than alves....getting forward only to the edge of the box to whip crosses in, but not forgetting their defensive duties (much like an old school gary neville)
- Centre backs should stay back at all times, one playing the ball short and the other looking for long through balls in the striker(Think ferdinand partnered with pepe)
-I want one dm sitting back and holding the defence and looking for through balls ( Xabi alonso/scholes) and the other supporting the attack slightly winning the ball back but just pinging it short to the amc and wingers as opposed to actually playmaking (carrick/khedira)
-An amc who stays in the pocket mostly, and drives forward only off the ball ( to get onto the end of a cross/ one two etc) but with the ball at his feet he looks to slice the defence and pass it around short until he can. (silva/ozil/rooney as opposed to kaka)
- A striker who is meant to drop deep to allow the amc to run ahead of him, get on the end of through balls and take it out wide to allow wingers to come in ( i know thats alot for a striker but with rooney here, i have a complete forward who can do these things

Over to you

Right not sure how much of that is possible to do, or how much of that contradicts itself. Its just a few ideas to get started.

Will have a look and make suggestions after having helped Seano above. Later tonight perhaps

My Top Team Leicester 2014/2015, using the narrow Diamond(high press) but with the Fullbacks on attacking mentality and mixed in everything.

Decided to make a start on my tactic :) So that later on when we talk we have a good base to start from!

Here is my first tactic- whilst the result set against the opposition is nothing to scream about, what I am impressed with is the way my team played, for the first time on fm the way I have in my head for my team to play is what I actually saw on screen.!

The average position of the defence is great. Carrick sitting back there on the right and bender slightly further forward. The tight in front four worked great-nani and young stay wide when they have the ball to cross or cut in for a through ball. When they dont have the ball rooney picks it up and the wingers run past him into the channel and rooney slots them in (Hence the tightness between rooney and the two wingers). Kagawa sits right in behind them and looks to get rooney through the middle.

There are still a few things which I can perfect with your help and a few things which my team arent quite doing but im not sure how to fix it- but i feel i have a good base here! Having said that I am now being battered by liverpool but like i said the tactic needs work and it isnt fluid yet

Yes, the High press version. Attacking mentality, runs from deep/with ball, cross, tballs etc on mixed, passing and creatove freedom on mixed (only Closing down not touched). YOu might consider using huge touchline and if being a real top notch team, using the widest of widths.

Thanks for the help.

Having looked at this tactic, I see only a few tweaks needed. Why not just use the TC settings regarding Width, tempo etc, but keep the tweaked Counter box and the focus play through the middle. This way, you will use more of the width when attacking.

As for the other settings, I would not restrict the creative freedom this much.

Roles:
Here, I think the Fcs partership is really good. Perhaps when playing away, change the Deep FC to a defensive FC on support and see how he puts more pressure on the opponent.

AS for the AMC. When playing teams sitting deep, It might actually be better to use a TQ that stays in the hole more often, at the times when a counter attack is not on.

The MCs, well here I would chnage it depeding on the opponent. Home against a lesser team that sits deep, a team that is lesser to us but still a good team at defending, its important that they provide width and look for space. Perhaps use free roles ?

Fullbacks: Well, against these deep lesse teams, why not have them on Attack duty ?

These are just my initiall thoughts

Thanks a bunch TBH , i'll have a few tweeks into now and try it over the weekend and get back to you.

And by free roles , do you mean " Automatic " or is there another issue?
