One should be very carefull looking at results from 12.0.4 as that patch had 4 small flaws to the engine that totally lead to ( and this is something I stated all a long) that the game was waaay to easy.The corner, the fullback, the AI backup tactics and the morale issue flawes all gave us a huge advantage over the AI and once you got onto a good start, you would rock the league and one could take almost any team and challenge for the title. The tactic COULD be working on 12.1.1 alhtough I doubt it, the actic being slightly unbalanced. The Cautious in Causton on the other hand does work

I Would probably use any of the team tactics instead though. The provide much more fun

If you were still looking for suggestions, I'd certainly be interested in seeing a 4-4-1-1, for a team like Everton.

That, and/or, a narrow diamond formation circa, perhaps something similar to what Ancelotti used with Milan and Chelsea?

Lastly, I'd be curious to see if you could work a sort of anti-football tactic, you know a rough and tumble sort of tactic similar to Leeds in their glory days.

hi. I'm playing with new york redbull in the American League MLS. if you had played with them which of your team tactics would you choose? I wanted to use t. henry as long as he can do before he retires .. thanks for the help

I Will make à flat 4411, using Everton in the middleteam tactic.
As for the narrow Diamond, its in the pipeline as well. My only concern is for the underdog or à really poor team as playing à narrow Diamond Will see them get destroyed down the flanks.

I am sorry, I have not played with them at all.

There will be many more tactics coming up though in all kinds of formations

A MIDDLE TEAM TACTIC





Disclaimer: This is in no way emulation.

Basically, I have been using these settings. As you see, there is nothing fancy here. I just let the players do their stuff. Here, we take advantage of the fact that our team has pace up front as in numbers as well. We play on the break, either by pushing forward and exploit the middle or, as in the 2nd​ and more cautious approach, slower and down the flanks.

Also suited for

Aston Villa, Newcastle, Everton ( if getting more squad depth), there are more teams but you are getting the hang of it



The players

FC-Poacher
Left MC – DPL-support/defend
Right MC –CM-defend


1st strategy: Tight counter exploiting the middle


We keep a tight formation when attacking on the counter, exploiting the middle and trying to get those t-balls onto the front 4, making runs into channels. We are pushing up the team to keep it even tighter along with putting pressure on the opponent (press more)

2nd Keeping possession down the flanks


Here, we still play on the counter but we try to keep the ball in the team by letting our defenders look for the more easy passing option. The midfield drops deeper together with the d-line but when the ball gets to one of our 4 attacking minded players, the move forward will be on and despite is playing a slow and probing approach, its in the transition phase only and not when these 4 gentlemen get the ball

Notice that here, we tweak the focus play and set it down the flanks, just like in the screenie

No need to make a download in my opinion, if there arent any player tweaks then they have all the info they need :)
 
I am waiting patiently for your sets with 4-1-2-2-1 as I'm struggling with Boro in the premeir away from home. Very good tactical thread this, thankyou so much.

I'm new to the forum and I only just bought FM12 yesterday, haven't played the series in a while..anyway giving your 'into oblivion' a try with Académica in Portugal, I'll keep you updated!

Edit:

Just completed pre-season, made a couple of free signings to boost the ranks. Played six friendlies, won four, drew and lost one. So far, so good. We struggle for possession at times, but overall the team are playing some nice football!

Looks good. I have not used this tactic with the new patch so it will be good to see how it performs

I am doing really good. I am going to play some Matches with Arsenal, man C and Chelsea before presenting it. So far, I have been playing with Man U and here is the latest match :D


Count the Clear Cut Chances. (The 3 pool had was actually from the one and same single attack)

Notice how LIverpool is actuallt sitting 2nd in the league and are not exactly been doing bad, at least not until they faced us
