***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Looks good. I have not used this tactic with the new patch so it will be good to see how it performs

Yeah, it's doing pretty well tbh, a few inconsistencies but perhaps I could blame it on team talks, I've not really gotten the hang of it yet. Also, my players start moaning if I don't start them all regularly so that could be a factor, too. Regardless, sitting in third and on equal points with second (Sporting) in December is something I'm happy with!

Advice needed. I just won league 2 with my Sutton Utd team, in my 4th season.

I need a tactic which consistently gets results. We will not be the strongest team in the league this season, but I think we will still be a good side on paper. Which tactic do you recommend?

Could you describe the team to me ? For all I know, you could have a team with 6 good attackers and no wingers (perhaps a narrow 4123) or many wingers and only one attacker and no AMC ( perhaps a Wide 41221).

Cheers

Yeah I have good depth in most positions. 2 good strikers really. Wingers are strong too. Wide 41221 could be the answer to be fair.

Actually, In that case I would probably go for a flat 442. Not only would it suit your team but its also a great formation to use when climbing the ladder. Its stable and easier for players of lower wuality to keep their defensive position in and its also a formation where attackers and wingers have lots of free space/options if they are up for the job. and of course, its a good formation to use when signing players as you dont have to say no to anyone, something that one just cant afford in your position

So, either Aston Villa or Bolton.

MY FM11 TACTICS BROUGHT INTO THIS THREAD.

As there is verfy little difference between Fm11 & Fm12, I have brought in these tactics here to.

Have a look at the latest results form a user at The Dugout. Results is with 12.1.1 with the Grande 442

West Bromwich Albion - 2011/2012 Season Review

First off, the Premier League where we won and in style too! 14 points above Citeh, most goals scored, least goals conceded..all in all one of the best seasons I've ever played.

The reason to our success? Consistency. All the way through the season we kept on winning and winning and our morale was never hindered by losses (only three, which is quite something)
For example:

When we lost to Man United away, we bounced back with an astounding 6-0 win against Blackpool in the cup and went on a 10 game unbeaten streak (we were unbeaten in 10 before losing to United too).

Cups

24 goals, 1 conceded. Not bad for a Mickey Mouse cup is it? I took these cup games seriously because at the time of the quarter final, I wasn't sure if we were going to win the league because of Fulham and United being up our arses up until January.

Another great cup run, where in the Hull game, Tshabalala scored 2 goals and assisted 2 after coming off the bench.
The final was a very, very lucky one. We got absolutely dominated by possession and only had 2 shots on target. Still we won with a goal in the 9th minute by Odemwingie.

Players of the season:

3: Ben Foster

Foster was an awesome goalkeeper for us. It's not normal for me to have a consistent goalkeeper but Foster was what I believe to be consistent. He's only on loan from Birmingham but I am very confident in getting him on a permanent deal. How much? I don't know. But 19 clean sheets, a golden glove award and great consistency is making me think that even £10M is worth it for him.

2: Chris Brunt

Despite his average rating which is much lower than some of the other players, Brunt was a mainstay in the first team because after a bollocking when he was playing **** for a few games he started banging assists from everywhere. He also provided great cover in positions when players like Dorrans and Tchoyi were injured and even covered as a central midfielder a few times when Muamba was banned for disciplinary. I'll probably reward Brunt a new contract as he has two years left.

1: Jonas Olsson

Captain Fantastico. One of the best central defenders I've ever had in any team. That's all I've got to say really. If I can sign Kyriakos Papadopalous next season then it's going to be scary how good these two will be in the league.

Will keep this brief as I feel I'm rambling a bit too much:

Player's Team of the Year

Earlier last year, we had a " Sticky of the week/month", a thread where a user having put in an effort where rewarded. However, in those cases, it look to me like the thread actually got less attention, almost like people dont look at the stickies ( no way, everybody reads them right ?)

To test this, I wil promot my own therad as stickie of the week and keep a count on how many view and posts it have had in comparishment to lets say last week.

Thread should have been stickied ages imo. Has great tactics for every team, and since many are not tweaked, they encourage the user to understand and use shouts

When will you release your top team wide 4-2-3-1?

ARSENAL 4231
- A TOP TEAM TACTIC

Disclaimer: This is in no way emulation.

here, we will find not 2 or 3 but 4 approaches. The key is to see if your players are finding space thatthey can exploit or of they have to create it them selfes, if the players need to sit deeper and counter or if you have to push up and gain control by hassle the opponent

Also suited for

Man City. Liverpool. Chelsea, Spurs, Man UTD

1st strategy: Attacking Possession

Although this is the main approach, you will probably need the other ones just as much. Perhaps not as Man U in your 4th season in the league but as Spurs in the CL, you need to be more cautious then this. Here, we play a fluid control based approach and let our wingers provide lots of width and we hassle the opponent and at the same time we try to keep possession when getting back the ball

If you have complete wingers, use them as Defensive wingers. If they are weak but really pacey , the use them as Wingers

Extra Shout: Against team sitting really deep, with lots of players behind the ball, its important that the runs from deep dont come too early from the advanced players in th wide postions, creating too many gaps between our stratas Here, I always include
overlap.png
from the start

nr1x.png

2nd Strategy: Direct Counter

Here, we play on the counter, getting the ball forward. Unlike in the first approach, we use inside forwards instead of wingers, a poacher instead of a complete FC and a TQ instead of an AMC, all with the purpose of making the AMR/L able to find space inside. This approach is mainly used against teams that do provide us with some space to exploit, like most middle teams do at their home ground when they try to attack.

nr2h.png

3rd Strategy Cool it man!!

A way to cool things down without sitting too deep. This is an approach I rather like when wanting to see out a 3-0 result and I don’t want to score more at the cost of risking conceding

nr4d.png

4th Strategy Cautious Counter

Here, we are playing much more cautious, perhaps an approach that will mainly be used away to really good teams or when wanting to grind out a result

Match against small team - Top team 4231, Using the Main ( 1st) approach AND of course all the shouts at matchstart. This is what can happen if the team play as an unit.71 % Possession, 90 % Pass Completion

Next Formation up: The Wide 41221

Top team: Chelsea
Middleteam: Suggestiosn please. Newcastle ??
Underdog: Wigan

I think they are performing poorly IRL at the moment but they did well last season if I recall correctly :)

Anyway, I am starting a new save with United soon and going to be using your top team 4-2-3-1

Then My suggestion would be for you to use wingers / attack and with the overlap shout when using the 1st strategy.
