Benteke finally agreed. £27 million plus add-ons that must be well attainable to take it to £32 mill. On his way down for a medical:

Christian Benteke: Crystal Palace reach agreement for Liverpool striker - BBC Sport

Great business for all sides. We get almost all our money back a year down the line and they get a proven PL goalscorer to keep them up and in the PL for next years mega TV money windfall. Everyone's happy.

BBC Headline makes me laugh... 'Palace reach agreement for £27m Benteke' whilst yesterday it was 'Liverpool reject 30m bid from Palace'

Choosing when to include add-ons and when not too.

And FAR more attainable add-ons at that than £4 million on Palace reaching the Champions League. Still can't believe they SERIOUSLY tried that one. Add-on's are supposed to benefit the selling club to reach their demands. Not to pad out your offer with something that'll NEVER be reached.

A couple of hundred years down the line you could have earned that money you never know

We're only 5 months removed from Pardew calling Benteke a cheat and wanting him suspended and worse.

That should be a fun first meeting. Gobshite.

Like £100M after one international match for a German player when you haven't removed the fake German team

Surprisingly, given what most would think of the opposition, big one for me today. Fully expecting a 2 or 3 goal victory. But it'll be a hard earned one if it is to be that. The next two games we're facing 2 of the 2 or 3 sides the league that will work as hard as ourselves this year. Burnley are interesting in the fact they've not changed much since the last time they were up. More or less the same personnel and the same traditional 4-4-2 way of playing. And very solid defensively. Not too many teams will roll them over at home this year. Lot of respect for Dyche the way he goes around football. Honest, hard working, leave nothing on the field. But our far superior quality should shine through matching that workrate. A fast start would be ideal.

These are the games that win you titles. And these are the games we've made a PL habit of messing up. (It shouldn't be as the consistency and form improved massively after Chrimbo, but that December disgrace at Watford still haunts you when you think of facing another lesser team.). Won't be easy and we'll have to work hard for it but imperative we follow up last week's outstanding start with another good win. 6 out of 6 going down Tottenham next Sat'day dinner would be a fantastic position to be in.

Mighty Reds.

As you said mate these are the expect to win by 2/3 goals but its never as simple as that no more, liverpool now have to win these types of games more often to show how competitive towards the top we can be. I never worry about us facing chelsea utd because were 9/10 always looking like we can win its the games against the lesser sides i worry

Good business by Liverpool, Benteke was never a Liverpool striker.

Just in keeping with a fantastic window. Been helped by the new riches, but the hard nosed negotiating has been brilliant and refreshing to see. To get nigh on all we paid back, a year down the line when he's dipped, is awesome.

Great deal for all party's. They get a proven PL goalscorer to probably ensure they stay in the league and next summers increased riches.

Yes, that price is very good for Benteke all things considered.

For me this season will come down to consistency and being clinical beating the 'smaller' teams in the league as to who will do the best. United had the best record beating the top teams last season but still finished 5th. Regardless of performances, you need to pick up them 3 pts against the smaller teams consistently in order to finish in the top positions at end of season. Although the big games are still important, if you don't back it up against the smaller teams it counts for little.

So, this is a game today Liverpool need to win, it's great beating Arsenal, but you have to back it up now with this fixture. Or else your work in the last game becomes undone by dropping points to a team like Burnley.

Be interesting if Mane features and if you can keep the momentum rolling from your first game victory.

Glad we managed to make the money back from Benteke. Never really understood signing him in the first place.

Will always remember him for his goal against United though

In it's on way it was equally as stupid as Mario. The 'committee' signed him in desperation the end of the window. A player that was never going to fit. The manager actually banged on the table for Benteke. When every man and his dog knew the one thing he needed to replace after Suarez and Sturridge out injured in his system was movement up front. The very thing Benteke doesn't give you.

Praise the Lord we now have a management team only signing players that are right for what they want to do.

..... Not a bad stat at all

Top PL scorers in 2016. Not bad at all. Fantastic entertainment that has you waiting to go the game. (Far cry from this time last year huh?). Which brings it home even more when you miss one as I am today sat typing this **** it! Lol.
