God everyones still so down after Sat'day.

Really could do with a thumping win to lift people again.

People are kicking off all over social media that we're welcoming the bus. "Southampton aren't Dortmund or Villareal". ******* embarrassing. A semi final is a semi final, regardless whether its domestic or europe, whether we're playing Real Madrid or Accrington Stanley.

Personally can't wait for Wednesday night.

No accounting for idiots mate. The same 'fans' (term used VERY loosely) across different platforms are now back to having a major meltdown and blaming everyone and everything. Even to the down right ridiculous extent of questioning whether Klopp is the man for this club and why Sakho isn't brought back into the fold? Seriously.

Thankfully the match going fan isn't half as reactionary in the main. One thing the first leg should guarantee is a bouncing atmosphere. And if Southampton can be beat before they've even entered the stadium like Villareal last year all the better.

who the **** think klopp in not the right man need to lay off the drugs ******* muppets

I think the defeat had definitely been coming. And there's certainly some work for him to do. But that's the nature of every club. Happens at one point or another.

Credit to Coutinho as well, not holding out to try and squeeze out more money or insist on a release clause etc.

I remember during the Sterling contract saga a couple of years ago Coutinho signed a new 5 year deal on about 80k I think when Sterling was turning down 100k. Completely different attitudes in terms of their priorities

I don't think it's a difference in priorities and attitude at all. Sterling is doing very well,is under a very good manager, and is being paid well. He's never been a bad trainer. Praise Coutinho in you must, but ragging on Sterling is bollocks tbh

Just working it out. Since I first got taken the match (ironically in the League Cup in a second round second leg game against then 4th Division Bradford City back in 1980 ..... A full strength L'pool, then the best side in Europe, had lost 1-0 the first leg. Could you imagine the meltdown if that was now?!!!!!) , this is my 13th out of 15 League Cup semi's we've been in through that time. With only two of those being loses. Easy to forget through the current title drought just how frigging successful this football club has continued to be. Christ knows how many more FA and European/ UEFA semi's I could add to that. We really are privileged as Liverpudlians to have experiences and memories that very few other fanbases could share.

Look's like Van Dijk is out for a few months which is a big bonus for tonight. With Clyne still suffering with his broken ribs so Trent should slot seamlessly in for him. Daniel is also heavily reported to be starting which should of happened Sat'day. The overall feeling from everyone leaving St Mary's the other week was we dodged a MASSIVE bullet there with Southampton having the chances for more than the solitary goal they take into tonight. Along with them not being able to play any better. But L'pool not being able to play any worse. (Although we gave that a good go Sat'day against Swansea ..... ).

Fully expecting a BIG response in front of what should be a bouncing crowd and a comfortable 3 or so victory. There's not been that much wrong the past up and down couple of months save for massive players missing and the style of play dropping. Now we have the likes of Matip, Lallana and Phil back, along with Gomez and Ojo getting stronger by the week and Sadio soon to return, the whole team and bench options are looking way stronger. And hopefully the return of the missing pieces will see the style revert back to the fast pace pass and move it was in the heady days of late summer/ autumn.

A return to Anfield South and a chance to face probably Utd with a fully fit first XI for the first time this season could well be just the launchpad to get 2017 up and running finally.

Up League Cup Record Breaking Reds!

Over the 130 minutes of this tie so far, Karius has single handedly prevented Liverpool from being smashed on aggregate. MASSIVE chance from Tadic, poor finish.

Edit: And there's Davis with another wasted opportunity. Soton very dangerous looking, but like the first leg, they need to be more ruthless. Matip getting torn a new one by Redmond this first half.

Yeah him and Arnold. But Matip not being helped by the young lad being caught up field half the time. Leaving Matip in big trouble!

Liverpool are so lucky to be in this. Can see them stealing it

Over the two legs, no doubt Southampton have been the better team. REALLY surprised how lacklustre Liverpool have been this second leg.
