If we beat West Ham this avvy, that would put us, for 24 hours or so at least, second in the league. One **** of a turnaround that in the 2 and a half years Klopp's been here from the 10th placed shambles he inherited that had won just 3 of their opening 11 games and only gotten past 4th tier Carlisle at home the League Cup on penalties.

It would also leave us just 2 points short of the '13/'14 side at this stage the season that came within a game of the title. The closest we've been the PL era. Which just attests to how utterly brilliant City have been this year and the misconception they've created with many the gap the league table. 28 games into '13/'14, we sat 4 points off Chelsea, level with Arsenal, and 2 ahead of City. A real 4 way Championship battle with 10 to go. We win later, we'll be 15 behind City and they'll have played a game less! Most any other season than the last two, when the two Champions had the anomalies of league record-equalling/ breaking mad winning runs, and there's a superb 5-way title battle going on now. But City are just having 'one of them' and then some. An almost perfect season for the ages.

LFC's future's more bright than at any time the past 28 years as he continues to build and improve this.

With still all to play for this year and as good a shot as anyone at the biggest prize in World football come May 26.

Most important moment of the match was Karius tipping Arnautovic chip shot onto the crossbar. That goes in and its a slogfest against 10 men behind the ball.

Liverpool peaking at the right time. CL business end and the form team in the race for runner up. Most impressive thing, and borderline scary, is that they're doing this with a midfield that includes Ox & James Milner (with all due respect, aren't world beaters), and even Can is as Scouse says, consistently inconsistent.

Add Keita & Lemar for next season and you can be very bullish about big things.

Can scored. Had a super assist for Firmino's goal. (Who scored again whilst looking the other way from the goal. For the third time. I can't decide whether he's arrogant or just beyond brilliant?). And yet still managed to look the worst of the midfield three by some distance. Which is quite the impressive achievement and shows how stats can be completely misleading. Honestly not gonna' miss him at all personally. He'll probably look sound in a lot slower, more tactical league but he's nowhere near quick enough, in speed of thought or consistent technical ability, for the PL if you have serious ambition to challenge.

Super display from everyone today bar Matip continuing to panic the living P out of you. Mad how he's suddenly rotating van Dijk's partner like he done the 'keepers. Some things just leave you scratching your head asking 'why?' with the mad German *******. But then everything else makes you quickly forget that and thank the Lord he's ours. Could well have had double figures there with the woodwork struck twice and some great saves from Adrian. Milner MOTM for me. He was everywhere. Run a close second by both FB's ..... What a buy Andy Robertson has turned out to be BTW. For what is effectively a free transfer with the sale of Kev Stewart to Hull off-setting what we paid, he's playing at a super high level. And what Trent's doing the other side at 18 along with Joe ..... England can be thankful the backend is looking stacked. Wijnaldum-esq first half from Alex. Absolutely superb the second. The highest scoring, and well arguably best, front three in Europe doing what they do. (You'd rather be a part of the Barcelona mess than a part of that Phil? SERIOUSLY?). And Lori Karius continuing his very good, building recent form with another commanding display. The save as dilakh noted from Arnautovic's chip was superb.

With the added bonus of now having a better GD than Utd forcing them to have to win to go back clear second tomorrow.

Up the 100 Goals before the end of February Reds!

Not interested in Lemar anymore according to Bouhafsi and Pearce.

FWIW, Joyce has said tonight Napoli's Jorginho is right up the top of our summer list for midfielders.

But honestly, since the club, naturally, has shut everything coming out down coming out since the initial van Dijk fiasco, even the reliable local corp are getting next to nothing and being mislead on other things so it's impossible to know who's still in play for us and who isn't.

Getting REALLY narked with Sky and BT picking games that 'could' be moved for live TV.

Can't book anything for West Brom as that could flip from the Sunday. ****, the Palace game in three weeks could flip from the Sat'day morning. Still waiting on that for Pete's sake! Same for anyone travelling into the City the Everton and Stoke games.

3 out of 4 games announced live in April could change dates. As always the paying supporter is the very LAST person under consideration.

I was half hoping for snow and no game as it’s been baltic cold and I’m getting too old for that ****. But nottin again over night. Completely passing L’pool by. Feels a lot warmer today than it has been so there is that.

Always wary of Rafa and him setting a team up defensively to get a point. Seen enough of that when he was here to never underestimate him. But all the momentum is with ourselves and this is a ****** good team we have playing some of the best footy not only the PL but Europe wide too. So there’s no reason not to be 100% confident going into every game we have left this year home or abroad. And r majestic Muslims on a mission.

I’ll take another 3 or 4 goal licking.

Up the Geordie Gobbing Reds!

Nice, professional, 'taking care of business with little fuss' on a bitter night. Newcastle made us work for it like. As is the minimum you'd expect from Rafa. But one World Class coach outdid another with his World Class team as good, if not better, than anything the returning legend served up his 6 season's leading the mighty Reds.

I make that only two league defeats at home now the last two seasons. And with such giants as Watford, Bournemouth, Stoke and Brighton left to visit this year, surely an unbeaten league season at home. Yet another box ticked off under the mad German btard. Fortress Anfield alive and kicking once more.

A few notables:-

Lorie Karius. Continuing to make many, myself included, eat their words with another superb display. Next to nottin' to do. But when he was called on, a top-drawer save to preserve the hard grafted HT lead. Exactly what boss 'keepers are supposed to do the few times they're called upon. Dominated his area and is getting more vocal by the game the more confident he gets. Becoming a real presence. Maybe, just maybe, he is what we thought we'd bought upon his highly rated arrival a few summers back.

Talking vocal .....

It's unfair just HOW good big Virge is without even looking like he's trying. Worth every last penny of that ridiculous fee. The whole defence has been elevated to another level with his addition. Special player to have that effect.

Oxo-Chambo. 4 goals. 6 assists. Endless work rate and top ability. Seamless fit into one of the best footballing sides in Europe. And a glaring, technicolour example of just HOW badly Wenger has completely lost it at Arsenal and is, or was in Alex's case, bringing everyone down with him.

Jordan Henderson. 'He's just a sad Mackem *******' yanno! ..... So sad he's captain of the second best side in England and one of the best in Europe while yuse are fast plummeting back from where yers came! Dickheads. Dominant, controlling display.

Some fella' that is turning lads Muslim and wanting them to ditch the bevvy's and go the Mosque. 32. THIRTY F 2 now. At the start of March. Better than Suarez ever managed. Soon be better than Robbie and El Nino. Rushie, he's coming for your's too. And then he'll probably celebrate with a bowl of Scouse whilst solving the Brexit carnage and bringing unity to the land. He's that F cool!.

Special mention to the lino Kop side for being an extra special ******** the last few minutes. Stonewall penalty not given. Stonewall red for the barcodes captain turned down not long after. Even Scott was looking at him like ''Sake ********. Yuse are directly in line. Help me the F out here!!!!'

Roll on Utd next Sat'day dinner. If these Reds continue to be on it, that IS going to be fun!

And I was aiming for a laconic 'Second best side the land back up to second. 'Pool!' XD

These buggers are just too **** good for that even when they're not fully on it.

How are you progressing? .....

That was part of a debate we got into after the debacle against Tottenham back in October when Mignolet and Lovren contrived to be exceptionally **** poor and the whole team had their collective worst outing of this season.

Well, this is everyone's record since then the PL.

Yes mate. Klopp's L'pool are progressing very ****** nicely. ;)

Put ma phone on charge and comeback to United ending up winning 3-2. Ffs really wanted to go into the game on saturday ahead of them so the onus wouldve been on Jose to setup to attack. Now im chanelling my inner Keegan and would love nothing more to thump them at their ground. Arghh

Yep it reminds me of growing up and thinking Carrick was absolute ***** yet he is probably the most underrated English talent of his generation. Same thing with Hendo who gets beaten with the same useless stick that he only passes sideways, when they fail to see how he controls the tempo and how he keeps the play moving unlike Emre "has to always take 3 touches" Can. Or when he gets compared to the useless yard dog Wilshere who has the same positional nous he had at 17 in the centre of the park. Inspite of all this he will probably be phased out next season as Klopp just cant count on him to be fit anymore, hence the Jorginho link. Same thing with Lallana being phased out with the arrival of Keita and the form of Chambo.

I don’t normally do the line-up thing but If it where down to me,, I’d play as little as what will play Sat’day dinner Utd tonight whilst still being strong.

Something like:

Karius

Clyne (Presuming he’s good to start finally)
Gomez
van Dijk
Moreno

Milner
Wijnaldum
Lallana

Mane/ Salah (Half each all being well)
Solanke
Oxo-Chambo.

If Clyne coupdn’t start, then flip Joe to RB and put Klavan in there. And be looking to bring Woodburn off the bench at some point. Earlier the better.

Thats not so much changing as rotating as most all are regular first teamers regardless. Which seems to be how Klopp is spinning/ justifying changes too. Not that he should have to in a completely dead tie like but yer know?

Struggling to find much of any enthusiasm for this one in truth but on a mission to go right through from Hoffenheim to Kiev. Never managed that Europe. Always missed 1 game here or there so can’t afford to swerve it.

9 down. 6 to go.

Up the European Royalty Reds!
