I know it's the done thing in football these days to overreact hugely, but football is rarely ever that definitive

I respect your opinion mate but one or two things is an understatement your first team squad is pretty good on paper that is but your defense is non existant your midfield relies on Pogba turning up and upfront Lukaku ( love him as a guy) can't trap a ball to save his life. Like I said I don't doubt you will throw money once again to fix the problems but it hasnt worked for like the past couple of windows and wont work with Woodward not having a clue about the footballing side. Spurs are ****** ahead of you and who would have ever thought that in post fergie times, yous lot have been mismanaged to **** and back since he left.

Spurs are only ahead of us because of managers lets be honest, their squad is paper thin and he's working miracles with what he has there. Sadly same could not be said for Mourinho and his typical 3rd season meltdown where he takes a club to the ground. He done exactly the same with Chelsea and next season they won the league.

I genuinely don't believe we're far off in terms of what we have if we had a manager who knew what he was doing and tried to play the right way. Lukaku bagged 27 goals last season and was one of the better strikers at the World Cup. He has his limitations but we have Rashford who is probably best young English attacking player at the moment.

Take your point about defence but Liverpool are the shining light of what one commanding CB can do, which is what we're lacking. Lindelof was one of the better CB's at world-cup and has shown it this season as time has gone on. He just needs the right partner I'm hoping we get Koulibaly. Don't want to turn this too much into united because we're in Liverpool thread after all. But if we get that one key CB to fix the puzzle then I believe our squad has very few flaws really. Our youth is still as good as anyone so Pochettino would do wonders if we got him.

This isn't me mocking Liverpool anyway just for the record, you've had a fantastic season up till now. But I think you're over egging (how far ahead you are) because it's only one season... Mourinho is still going down as a more successful manager at United than Klopp at Liverpool unless he wins something. The history books will show some trophies despite the terrible football Mourinho produced.

Maybe thats the case with us as we just dont have the revenue Utd or City have or the wages the pay. It just means that they will have to throw more money and more wages but the lure of playing for Utd will always be there. The truth is they can still turn it around by hiring a DOF just get Woodward away from the footballing side that way when the managers come and go you dont have to restart the footballing side of the team and go through transition after transition. God I hate that word it just reminds me of the Woy and Snake oil salesman Rodgers days.

This, in a nutshell. Even United can't do that forever either tbh, which is why Jose got sacked and they want Mitchell to come

It was the case for most of rhe PL era.

But now wages are levelling out players are looking at the project and CL first and foremost. There’s only so much wealth you can garner. (Unless you’re a flat out greedy btard like Sanchez.).

Look at our own squad. By Mane’s own admission, he flat turned Utd down three times. Southampton wanted a bidding war on van Dijk. City and Chelsea could have blown us out of the water. No doubt Mourinho and Utd would have been front and centre too. Except he let it be known from the get-go he pnly wanted to go one way. They could all anihilate us salaey wise.

Most top players now are more about CL and the overal project as much as salary.

They miss out this year and compeating with the very too clubs becomes that much harder again.

That's certain players though but I feel both those players signed because of the manager and in the case of VVD the manager (who despite the rules clearly tapped him up it happens but hey we can't point fingers when we done it ourselves) and were we are going as a club. Like Mike said it only becomes a problem if this continues for much longer there's only so much money you can throw at players but if you haven't been a consistent CL team you will end up shopping at a different level to your rivals.

Except this most top players are about the CL still hasn't borne out in reality either. And wages are absolutely not flattening out. City and Chelsea didn't want to blow you out the water, not sure why this myth persists

No other club had a chance to even if they’d wanted. That’s the point.

It’s leveling out in so much as I’n offering you lets say £180k a week, with a project and manager you’re comfortable with, in the CL and challenging for major honours, and x club is offering you, oh lets say another 40k basic but has none of that, players aren’t chashing the bigger wage packet.

But hey, dip out of the CL this year, six/ seven years removed from the league and over a decade the European Cup, and let’s see rhe market you’re left to shop in if you still believe money can outweigh anything.

We’ve lived it. And the parallels, including exactly what you’re saying, are uncanny. And before you know it 5 years becomes 10 becomes 15 etc. The longer you’re away from it the harder it gets from all stand points.

You have to give them credit thought Scouse as they have now clocked you can't just throw money at the problem as they're chasing a DOF. Hopefully, he is Damien Comolli in disguise now that would be hilarious.

I don't think we are but be funny if we appointed the supposed guy who really wants it.... 'Peter Schmeichel'.... sigh.... he has 0 credentials! I think it will probably be that Paul Mitchel from RB Leipzig.

I’m sure getting his career off the ground to the tune of 21 PL appearances, with 5 starts including rhe Merseyside derby, a top level goal, playing a part on the wondrous journey to Kiev, culminating in a place on the bench the CL final, along with a full England cap would have him think the experience was a good one.

Really need to sort your mad youth situation out man and at least have some sort of first-team pathway. Particluarly with the new loan rules coming in.

Eh you are clutching at straws here. The experience was in no way meaningfully better than it would have been for him at Chelsea and it likely would have resulted in the same outcome as well: A perm transfer to a lesser club.

Why would you even post that nate?

He had a grand total of 17 mins football for Chelsea the CL a dead group game the previous three seasons. 1 game off the bench. Being an unused sub one more game the LC. That was his Chelsea career. He was nowhere near the first team squad and didn’t
extend because of it.

He’s now spent the next 18 months as part of Liverpool’s, training day in, day out with top class players and coaches their first team. Got 27 appearances under his belt. 21 the Pl with 5 starts. Part of every PL match-day squad last season. Been on the bench in a CL final. Made his full debut for England.

And left with a wonderfully classy message thanking everyone for that and all he’s learned here through it the past year and a half.

He wouldn’t be now making a £19, potentially £25 million move to a PL clubs first team squad without that, thats for **** sure.

And all thats ‘in no way meaningfully better’ an experience’ than being stuck in Chelsea’s ressi’s goong nowhere?

You’re just making yourself look silly there mate. Not our fault your clubs poor attitude to youth is what it is.

He would easily have made a 25m to a Premiere League club if he stucked around at Chelsea. All his time at Liverpool confirmed is that he isn’t good enough for this level which Chelsea pretty much knew from the beginning.

But ofc he made a few appearances and left a classy message so that changes everything.

Genuine question, why is it that a majority of fans of other big clubs (Arsenal, City (although they're more obvious in this context), United, Chelsea, Spurs etc.) absolutely hate the thought of Liverpool winning the title? .

Could stem from the nonsense rhetoric emmanating from a certain section of their English fans?
"We are different, we are special...".

No... You are just the same as any other British football fan.

You need a WAY bigger boat and stronger line kid.

Anyway .....

Early team news is in for Monday.

We have to decide to be innovative and not play a goalkeeper.

Just super. We now travel in hope rather than expectation.

Why are knobheads all over social media loosing their collective **** over a third choice RB, who would never have played, being loamed out amd somehow seriously weakening the depth? (I know. Rhetorical. They’re knobheads.).

The things people freak out over has to be seen to be believed.
