He's got room to talk after signing Andy Carroll for 35m and Stewart Downing for 20m....

I still don't understand how you guys think Suarez won't leave Liverpool for Arsenal when you are already trying to line up his replacement in Soldado. Plus I like how Rodgers contradicts himself by saying you guys don't need the money yet said he is trying to move Reina on in a "money saving" move.

Liverpool already admitted that was inexperience and they trusted Comolli and Dalglish with the money

He may leave for Arsenal, but you will need to pay more than you are offering... you have completely twisted what Rodgers said

He said it was money saving as a 2nd choice Goalkeeper on 100k a week was not needed... it wasn't a necessity to sell Reina, just made sense considering Rodgers wants Mignolet as his preferred goalkeeper

we have only spent 2million net spend, we have money spare still

£40m was a great offer for Suarez, I would of took it and ran.

No, no it wasnt.

Tbf he isnt twisting what BR said on Reina, it was a complete U-turn on what he said originally.

It made sense to sell what Rodgers saw as a second choice keeper on the biggest wages in the club

People can make of that what they choose

No, BR said that he wanted to have the pair of them and have competition. Then does a U-turn and said it didnt make sense to take up that kind of funds.

A move to Barcelona fell through due to Valdes staying.. Rodgers wasnt going to say he was for sale

No other club seemed insterested until Napoli came in.. Perfectly understandable

No, no it wasnt.

Seriously, 40m £ would be top 10 highest transfer fee in the history.

Not only that, but have a look at rest of the top 10: CR7, Zidane, Ibra, Kaka, Cavani, Falcao, Figo, Torres, Neymar. Seeing a pattern? Most of these players (with exception of Ibra and Neymar I guess) have a reputation for high professionalism and work ethic, and none of them is even close to behavioral problems Suarez has.

40m £ is a fantastic offer for a player who is so much trouble, I would take it and run.

Comical.

Love it.

That being said, away from the comedy circus, getting a combined 90million for a blond haired has-been and a racist, flesh eating scumbag is pretty good business even with the gross overspend on Carroll.

The Valdes move was dead long before you signed Mignolet. Rodgers and Mignolet both spoke about the competition for places and that both would be staying. Then soon after Reina is off because it doesn't make sense to have such a high paying GK on the bench. That is the the very definition of a U-turn.

EDIT: also turns out Reina wanted first team football.

No, it is not a good enough offer... not matter what you think, Liverpool agree seeing as they rejected the offer

Liverpool rejected it because they think the wording of the clause is on their side.

We rejected it because it is not a good enough offer... he is one of the best strikers in the world, you have to pay a premium to get those kind of players

Same happened with Torres, and has happened with Cavani and Falcao this summer

why does he have a clause any way

Because he is a top player and would want some assurances that if a better team came in he could talk to them

LFC, the whole reason for the bid is that Liverpool and Guardiola have different interpretations of what the clause means. Arsenal's whole bid was based to see for themselves what it actually means, hence the £40,000,001 bid. This whole pay a premium thing becomes entirely moot if the clause is in Guardiola's favour. The real interest is what happens now, in terms of clearing up the clause. Will Suarez push for a move? Will Guardiola get the lawyers involved?

cant see why he would go its not a step up well it is if he want to play in the cl but not win anything its just a sideway step
