I'd say he is more than occaisonally dogmatic, when you consider he has been trying to put Gerrard at the heart of a possession based 4-3-3.
It isn't great. Managers need to be adaptive, to realise when their approach isn't working and change it up. Rodgers' possession football is good to watch and it is very effective the majority of the time, but when the opposition set out in a way that neutralises it effectively there MUST be a plan b. Rodgers, much like Guardiola's Barca, has no plan b, and he paid the price. As a side note, it's the reason why I'm so pleased we have Lambert as a manager: he's so amazingly adaptive. Though he can't play possession football like Rodgers can set a team up to do, he can mix and vary his styles effectively.
Haha. Been trying to wind you up if you haven't noticed mate. We truly got benteke'd. We actually didn't play too bad, but same old story about not having a clinical striker, or anyone that can even finish for that matter.
I still think we should stick Stevie up there. He normally finishes his one on ones off no problem.
Of course, I've been doing the same.

Liverpool played well actually, but it was just a case of playing well, but right into the opposition's hands. It wasn't even a case of not having a clinical striker, there were just too few good chances for you to take. Each Villa defender individually had magnificent games (again, they've been great recently) but there was such a lack of both width and verticality in your style they weren't forced out of place too much.
Gerrard as a striker? It'd be a rare case of a player moving UP the pitch as he aged rather than down. Might be something to try as an unorthodox switch in a match, but that's just it. It'd be unorthodox, and I don't see Rodgers actually being inventive enough to try it.
Suppose we'll let GC have his little digs, Villa have had less to shout about than LFC this season, which is hard to do
Hahaha. I've just been wanting to see how long I could go doing nothing but trolling before Mike. pulled his finger out. I got to three straight days before he infracted me.

Though I'd argue we've actually been doing pretty well this season by our standards. Youth coming through, squad finding their feet, new signings looking effective, manager who seems to have some serious chops, we're above where we finished last season already and crucially an absolutely deadly strike partnership up front. There's plenty to be pleased about as a Villa fan recently, but hey; this ain't the thread!
