Well that didn't go as expected.
5 points lost from winning positions 3 times the last 2 games. Not too clever to say the least. If last week was just a frustrating 'one of them', with L'pool losing the game rather than Bournemouth going out and winning it with a mad, nightmare last 20 after the preceding 70 was almost the picture perfect away display; today, against a real poor West Ham side, was the complete opposite and the first time this year you've been left real mad at these Reds.
I didn't actually think we were that bad collectively. (Individually is another matter.). Controlled the first half without being great (the tempo of our play was WAY too slow), conceded two bad goals to flip it and go in one down; then come out a whole bunch better and dominate the second half without ever really feeling like we'd comfortably win. A real strange day. Flip a Randolph Worldie save from Henderson, a Clyne howler blammend over, and two penalty's that on another day would of been given, and we're talking about a different game and result. Funny old game footie. But we aren't. And the reality is L'pool dropped two bad points we never should of so let's get the bad out of the way firs:
Loris Karius. Oh yay!. Another few days/ week of the new National rhetoric to bash L'pool's 'keeper. This WILL be fun! (Rolls eyes.). Not that he helped himself at all. I don't understand his thinking the Payet free kick at all. That was central. So why stand to a side regardless? Let alone SO far over one side? After he'd positioned his wall badly to begin with. That is completely on him. But then you have to question the boneheadedness of Lallana for giving away a cheap free kick to begin with when Payet is in the opposition XI. Base stupidity all round and a horrible goal to concede. The second I don't blame him for as the deflection off Henderson threw everyone, Matip included. Then he comes and cleans Carroll out second half who very few goalkeepers ever even dare face upto. He's struggling right now, no question. But it's support he needs not the constant narking from our own fans.
Talking of ..... If ALL you want to do is cryarse and sit there with yer arms folded, narking and loudly groaning when every attack doesn't result in a goal, or the players go backwards to go forwards, please, feel free to **** right off and do one back to whatever ***** town you've travelled from and follow you're pissant local club there and be a ******** on there time! The knee jerk, cryarseing from absolute bellends, mainly wools, is getting behind tiresome. If you aren't invested in believing in what these lads are doing in this title charge, and aren't prepared to fully get behind them, ******* do one! The ******* Southern knobs in front who booed half time (they soon shut up and totally **** it when they got told in NO uncertain words about that inbred, Sunday league behaviour) had to be seen to be believed. 6 points off the top the league, semi final of one cup with another about to start, not even out of December, and they get that **** for their seasons efforts. No wonder Klopp is getting exasperated at some of our so called 'support' at times.
Have a ******* HARD word yer selves before you return Stoke and ******* support your team! Or just don't ******* bother! *Calms.
Talking of Klopp, the one constant gripe with him was again frustrating the living **** out of me. You have subs for a reason mate. USE them to change things will yer! Bring Alby on wide. Give Woodburn a shot the last 15. Anything. But do SOMETHING when it's patently not going to happen with what's out there. Southampton springs instantly to mind when Coutinho was totally goosed half time but he left him all game and brought Daniel on WAY too late. One thing Jürgen needs to change about himself. Loyalty's great to the XI mate but you selected the subs for a reason.
Thought all the midfielders were shockingly off today too. And Bobby had his worst game of the year. Woodburn should of been well on for him late.
A bad, maddeningly frustrating day overall.
But then there's the perspective of L'pool being 6 points off the top the league. In December. Two games clear in the top 4. Amidst a SERIOUS title challenge. Whilst also going all out for both domestic cups with yet another League Cup semi to look forward to in January. How bad are we?
A few positives of note:
Big Div Origi. 4 goals in 4 games. 9 goals from his last 10 starts. 16 from his first 49 games in red. 1 in 3. And still only 21 and nowhere near the developed end product. Yet he was overall ***** today. But he can't stop scoring so how do you leave him out? Quite the paradox for the manager.
Lallana equalled his league goal total from last year today. In 17 less games.
These Reds scored their 49th goal in only 19 games this year today Failing to score in only 4 games in only 4 games on the season. With a goals per game scored/ conceded ratio of 2.6- 1.1 they'll continue to win way more than they lose/ draw.
The unbeaten home run now stands at 15 games. and counting The best for 7 seasons.
Mané looked the best he has in over a month which is real heartening for the Chrimbo run.
Bad , maddening day at the office no doubt. But not half the disaster the cryarsing would have you believe. Have to win at Middlesbrough though now. Can't drop again. And that concerns me as I had it down as a draw given L'pool's woeful record at the Riverside.
