The Manchester United Thread

Perhaps but I still feel £75m a year feels a bit disproportionate compared to what other big clubs like Liverpool and Madrid receive. Like United is definitely the biggest club in the world but surely they don't dwarf the competition so much in terms of 'size'?

Can they offer a return of £1.5bn? That's the key here. It's really not disproportionate when you look at the return they expect to get.

Only Real Madrid can offer the same commercial reach. Liverpool arent close at all.

Hey, just be blad that big bussiness is willing to spend so much money on football. Because personally I've never understood in what way exactly kit deals or kit advertising gets them any revenue in return. When I watch a game I watch a game, not contemplate whether Chevrolet makes good cars.

This kit deal will be very good for us though lol considering we are not in Champions League next season and I think revenue generated by being in Champions League is quite a lot

Yeah have to give major credit to ManUtd commercial team and Woodward.

Thats what they are estimating though ... As I said, we can't really make any accurate deductions without knowing the full picture but it does seem disproportionate no matter whatever said and done. More than double any what any other club get? That's essentially saying that the revenue Adidas can gain from united is more than double the revenue they can get from sponsoring clubs like Madrid and Liverpool

I expect many clubs will attempt to renegotiate higher deals now ... Although a sizeable gap will definitely remain between United and the rest for sure

Hmm they obviously get a share in revenue of any kit sales. I suppose it's a lot in the intangibles as well ... Improves their brand value and reach when they sponsor a club like United who are watched by millions every week while it's players wear their kit

The fact that you've brought up Liverpool in this so called "debate/argument" whatever you're trying to get out of it, shows you have not a scooby doo as to what you're talking about. Liverpool are no where near on a global scale what Manchester United are. It's not me being biased, it's just the plain truth which somehow I have no idea how you don't already know.

Are you seriously trying to believe Adidas don't know what they're doing when making these types of multi-million £ kit deals? Lol.

Andy Mitten on Vidal today:-

Vidal - YouTube

He thinks it will be done and there is negotiations happening.
Just seen that :) Also been looking around about 2 trialists, they are suppose to be 2 of the brightest talents coming for years, and Benfica have been trying for ages to tie them down, and UTD will most likes sign them up as if not Barca/Madrid defo will as all 3 clubs been after them for about year. But we seem to have come out on top.

You're not grasping the economics here, Alcaraz, it's not a random guess. This is what they specialise in. It's not disproportionate when they expect to DOUBLE their investment. It's more than just a random estimation. You seriously underestimate how much work goes into stuff like this. They wouldnt sign a deal unless they were very sure they were going to get the return they wanted, in this case, a profit of £750m. Can anyone else get them that? Right now, no. And thats why United are getting £750m, because they are the club who can currently deliver, and therefore they can name their value. Not disproportionate at all it's economics 101

A club cant just randomly ask for more, there has to be something in it for the sponsor. There are two clubs who could probably really get into this level: Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. Perhaps Barcelona.

I think another point of the massive amount we are getting is that Addidas have just basically given the finger to Nike saying "don't want to negotiate a bigger contract? That is ok, we will offer double while you just lost one of your biggest clients". Remember that Addidas have now managed to double their profit while taking potential earnings from Nike at the same time. If we were always with Addidas then I imagine we would have got a similar contract as what Chelsea, Madrid have around the 300m mark but as I said we were once with Nike and it is a massive statement. Thats why we have such a high deal with them. The exact same would happen if Barca didn't renew with Nike and went to Addidas. It is not all to do with the club and its fan base(although that has a massive amount to do with the deal).

FFP and FIFA are blocking the transfer of Di Maria to PSG as the club spent all there budget under there punishment on Luiz. The club will have to sell players of the same amount or player to be able to fund Di Maria transfer. Wonder who they could sell for the price of Luiz player/players.

No mate I think you are misunderstanding me ... I was looking at it from another perspective. Okay fair enough that Adidas believe they can profit hugely from the sponsorship deal with United. But then don't you think that the sponsorship deals that the likes of Madrid are getting is rather low comparatively?

Hmm but that may not necessarily be because Liverpool are not as big as United? Perhaps they have leased skilled executives idk ... I was basing my deduction on intangibles on the ground. In Asian countries, Liverpool have as many fans as United for sure. Maybe slightly lower but it's very comparable. I live in Asia so I would know

Not unless Madrid can help return £1.5bn. It will be up to Madrid in future to show they can, they and Bayern are really the only clubs who could current have a chance at that.

They probably can't but I reckon that after this new sponsorship deal between United and Adidas ... Clubs such as Madrid will be looking to renegotiate for higher fees as soon as they can at the very least although a sizeable gap between them and United will remain imo

Then it's up to Madrid to prove they're worth being paid as much as United are.
