The Manchester United Thread

The U21's made it a hat trick of wins - for the first team, U18's and U21's - with a 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Both goals for Joe Hugill.

Team: Vitek - Jurado, Kambwala, Hardley, B.Williams - Iqbal, Savage - Emeran, Hansen-Aarøen, Forson - Hugill.

Hopefully we can get a result or two go our way today for top 4 challenge. Well one will with either Ars/Spurs dropping points

Keep going 🤩

Why are Manchester United so bad at selling players?

Bad transfer strategy. Usually players are on high wages and they are hard to move if not good enough.
Even with youngsters, United tent to cling on for way too long. Garner was the first in ages to go for over 10m if we count academy players. Even when United do have some moveable assets like Lingard, Evans, McTominay etc, they refuse to move them for whatever reason.
There are rumors that Newcastle are willing to pay premium for McTominay, and United are refusing. Elanga is another one who's never going to be a good player unless he leaves and starts playing regurlarly.

Also important to remember we have been terrible at selling players for ages now…even before Fergie retired. For example, we sold Berbatov for a measly 5 million at 29.

That's what I'm talking about.
We have always been atrocious at selling players.
For a club that prides itself on its ability to make money through marketing, it's insane to think they get their pants pulled down yearly on players heading out the door.

Signing bang average players or past the best or old crocks on huge wages and contracts won’t help lol

Perhaps, that’s the reason. We’ve never really been a selling club and have only sold players we’ve either wanted to sell or, in the rare instance, had our hands forced by the player. Since a huge chunk of our revenue comes from sponsorship deals, we’ve never really cared about recouping money from player sales.

Clubs know this and lowball us on players (typically on the fringes).
