The Manchester United Thread

Seems much more realistic than Ancelotti, any good manager is going to have to be persuaded (apart from Van Gaal) because they are not available.

been talking with GC. The Carlo thing is weird, someone somewhere wants this to continue being a story, its not jus random media speculation. Who, I don't know, but he hasn't said no either. Unlikely but not dead.

Just wanted your opinion mate what sort of timeline do you think the owners will leave to announce/find new manager. 2 weeks, a month?
when they are done. Giggs knows he is only interim, so it wont effect him. They will be a lot more detailed than last time

Would require similar kind of transfer fee as Shaw to go through. As he said in article he will only leave if club says he needs to go for financial reason. Has said many times that his intent is to play his whole career at Milan a la Maldini who is his role model.

It'd be less, Saints better off money wise than Milan are.

Roma to Manchester United is a big step no matter how you look at it. Does CL really play a big part for a manager? I wouldn't think so... if it's a project and he is getting backing in the summer then you'd imagine it will be 1 year without CL... which may suit some managers as they get to start with a pure focus on the league.

Ooof, you're verging dangerously close to hubris there! Didn't think it would be possible for United fans after this season!

But in all seriousness, CL is a pretty big thing for managers. Even without it, Garcia's very much a project manager. He'll be done when he's done, but not before.

It's really odd. Not dead by any means, but very unlikely. Either it's someone on Carlo's side sneakily making him available, or it's some hack making it up, or more amusingly it's United really desperately trying to hint to him. Plenty of arguments why he'd stay, mind, but just as many why he's leave. Worth keeping an eye on.

Not seen much of De Sciglio this season, I know Milan have been struggling but hows he been doing? And would he be the same price transfer wise and how does he compare talent wise to Shaw?

Meh, Ancelotti is pure class, probably is best manager for United. Some might say Klopp but a more experienced head may be more needed in these next few years.

Had some injuries, but still done quite well considering Milan have struggled. Milan are not as well off as Saints as Mike said, but Milan will sell half off the squad rather than let the best homegrown defender they've produced since Maldini leave. Widely regarded as best RB prospect in the world.

Whoa whoa, wouldn't go that far. Quite a few Milan fans aren't too happy with him because he has quite big lapses in concentration occasionally. Nothing that can't be ironed out, but still. Also, this hasn't been his finest season, hasn't really kicked on.

That's a bit dissapionting was very impressed when watched him last season. Who would you choose between Shaw and Di Sciglio even tho he is more of a RB. Or would you go left field and go for someone else?

That all depends on the price.

Di Sciglio for 20 mil and 40k p/w or Shaw for 30 and 100? De Sciglio. If you knock five mil off Shaw's fee and more importantly at least 50k off his wages? Shaw.

EDIT: But seriously you guys Ricardo Rodriguez

Yeah bit much that best RB prospect after this season, but season before he was pretty great.

Shaw's a good player who will likely become great. He is not worth 100k p/w.

He's 18. Just think about what his next contract will be like, let alone his first one. The best left back in the world in David Alaba isn't even on 100k p/w. That's crazy money.

You spelt Azpilicueta wrongly ;)

You just have to listen to Van Gaal's interview to really love what he wants to bring to the club or anywhere where he works. He has some sort of arrogance like a it's his divine right to play attacking football no matter what.

There is one of his interview with FIFA where he talks about his philosophy, players he likes, how his captain should be. It's excellent.

IMO what we need right now is Van Gaal. He has big ego and will obviously fall out with management and players but wherever he goes, he will improve the club and playing style. Also he has the ability to promote players from academy. He always retain at least one staff from the club and will take his inputs on young players. He will ask them to train with first team and if they impress him then boom, they will in the first team squad.

He clearly said it doesn't matter whether player is young or old, all that it matters is they should play the role he asks from them.
