The Manchester United Thread

Surprised Fosu-Mensah is back already. Hopefully Ole plans to use him as a midfielder.

Matej Kovar, Max Taylor, Dishon Bernard, Teden Mengi, Ethan Galbraith, Arnau Puigmal, James Garner, Dylan Levitt, Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes, Ethan Laird, Dmani Mellor, Largie Ramazani & Mason Greenwood all traveling to Astana

Only Grant, Shaw, TFM older players who travelled

Oh yes :)
Thats only 17 players. Surely more have travelled like Jones, Lingard, Mata?

So Carrick, McKenna, Phelan all staying with the first team. While NickyButt goes out to be his assistant for the trip.

Either that or the fact the talk in the last window has made him realise that media transfer talk means nothing and he isn't going to get a better offer from elsewhere just yet. Signing a long term contract benefits both Lisbon and him as now the bargaining chip (so to speak) moves back into the sellers hands. That said 85m in the current market is still good value.
Think that’s the case in the Summer no parties were genuinely interested. Now he’s doing it again second season putting up same level performances clubs might start taking a serious note. The higher release clause limits his options to a certain extent though

Based on what? This board gives out contracts to literally anyone to preserve player value.... just look at Jones and how **** he is yet got a 5 year deal recently.
Its a 1 year extension. What’s the problem. He’s played nearly all his loan mins at rb which isn’t even his position. And done well there for spells getting praise from media and opponents at the same time. Maybe Ole who actually managed him before wants to give him a chance to see what he can do. Moaning for moaning sakes!

Solskjaer says #MUFC squad decision was "common sense" - Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw & Jesse Lingard need minutes, while Lee Grant will make his first start. OGS looking forward to seeing the youngsters playing men's football

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms DiShon Bernard, Ethan Laird, & Dylan Levitt will all start for #MUFC v Astana

Solskjær has told Shaw that he has fallen behind Williams in the pecking order at #mufc. Ole now views the 19 year old as the better player. Plans to sign a full-back in January or the Summer have been cancelled #mulive [telegraph]

Been watching both Eirling and Sancho tonight. Both would automatically transform our attack. Eirling not long been on and got an assist with good movement into the channel and a perfect timed cross. Then scored a sublime nutmeg finish on the keeper 1 on 1 only to have it ruled out for a foul in the build up.

Sancho is an interesting one and he’s clearly got issues with Favre who said in the build up he’s dropped him for not being focused lately. Brings him on at HT and he’s been Dortmund’s best player scoring a banger of a goal, then give Favre a smirk afterwards in his direction.

Edit: Eirling just scored his 8th CL goal. Perfectly timed run, strength and pace leaving the defenders looking stupid.

Håland now becomes the first teenager to score in 5 consecutive CL matches.

Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't see any of them coming here with Ole in charge.... the attraction to play for us in the Europa League? Maybe if we offer them stupid money then yes, but that kind of kills the point going down this route anyway.

Think the same, CL is a must for them and it might happen somehow you get it. But still Haaland wants first team, will you then sell off Martial?

Maybe they want to come here and play for Ole knowing full well they will play first team football be guaranteed starters and can actually see Okecand the club are trying to build something. Of coarse we will over pay nothing new there Utd have always overpayed one way or the other.

By all reports Sancho isn’t happy in Germany and would like a move back to England and be closer to his family. Plus the fact we would of signed him in the summer But Dortmund didn’t want to sell. And Sancho was more than happy to come despite us not being in the CL. Not to mention the fact that 4 of his best buddies play for the club who he is always on holiday with.

Haaland is very keen on the move also and as Daniel Taylor said in his athletic article he would love to play under Ole again who he has a fantastic relationship with and also with his farther and agent. And Riola wouldn’t be an obsticle in negotiations either.

Yes we are not in a fantastic place right now. It it’s not all doom and gloom either. We actually don’t have a bad squad when everyone is fit and available. The football hasnt been great but there’s been flashes of what this team can do under Ole at the same time.

I actually don’t think Oles is doing a to bad job tbh. He’s shifted out most the deadwood. And made 3 very good signings. Yes you could say he left us short but I rather that then waste money on players who doesn’t really want. Just so they can come in and do a job for ridiculously high wages. Then the very good job he’s doing trying to get the talent players from the academy into the first team.

My thoughts have always been since the start of the season. Yes there’s gonna be ups and downs especially with the thinness of the squad and how hugely the average age has dropped and will again next summer. It’s gonna be a case of short term pain for long term gain imo.

? Ole names a youthful XI to face Astana...#MUFC #UEL

Grant, Laird, Tuanzebe, Bernard, Shaw, Garner, Levitt, Gomes, Lingard, Greenwood, Chong
